In 1977, Neil Faiferlick moved his family from Iowa to Missouri where he was surprised to find that there were very few furniture stores.

Faiferlick opened Camdenton Furniture that same year.

From that single location, the company slowly expanded over the years. Today, Missouri furniture owns 8 locations around the state, with the newest location opening in Washington, Missouri, in late 2022.

Neil passed away unexpectedly in 2014 but his wife and sons continue operating the family business.

In addition to furniture, the company offers mattresses, hot tubs, outdoor furniture, and appliances.

In June 2022, some Missouri Furniture showrooms were damaged by local flooding.

Floyd Home Furniture was founded in 2014 by Kyle Hoff and Alex O’Dell. This pair of entrepreneurs began business by selling a single item- the Floyd Leg, a clamp stand that turned any flat surface into a table.

Soon the company expanded with the Floyd Bed and then the Floyd Sofa.

Hoff and O’Dell knew that most furniture companies today use the same basic design and mass-produce furniture with lots of waste involved. These businessmen wanted to revolutionize the industry by using simple designs that never go out of style and using high-quality materials so the furniture will last.

Hoff notes that the company keeps parts in stock, so if a leg should break off the sofa, you can buy a single leg and repair it. This is something no other furniture company does.

There are numerous reviews of the company’s products, the majority of them good. Even companies like Gear Patrol call some of Floyd’s pieces “the most exciting pieces of furniture”.

Today, The RoomPlace has 27 furniture locations in Illinois and Indiana.

Bruce Berman is the current CEO and is a direct descendant of Sam Berman.

The company changed its name to The RoomPlace in 1985.

The RoomPlace marked its 100th year in business in 2012.

In July 2019, the company acquired the eCommerce furniture company Apt2B.

In June 2022, The RoomPlace donated $150,000 to the Eskenazi Health Foundation.

JoyBird was founded in 2014 when a group of friends decided that furniture should be both comfortable and stylish.

The company designs and manufactures midcentury modern furniture, specializing in sofas.

The furniture is often brightly colored, reasonably priced, and the company offers free shipping in most cases, making this an attractive option for many.

Originally an eCommerce company, JoyBird has since opened 8 showrooms in major US cities such as Chicago and Los Angeles.

All furniture is made in Tijuana, Mexico. There are no warehouses, furniture is made when a client places an order. Most items can be custom-made as well, such as changing the lounger on a sectional to be placed on the right side, rather than the left side, a sofa that is 6 inches longer than the one shown, or making the legs shorter or taller than what is considered standard.

The company will also email clients photos of their furniture as it is being constructed.

In June 2018, La-Z-Boy acquired JoyBird furniture for an undisclosed amount.

The Lovesac Company had filed a lawsuit against JoyBird furniture for patent infringement. In June 2022, both parties settled privately out of court, with the terms of the resolution being kept confidential.
