In 1981, Kathi and Kevin Blackwell started their own juice company, Surf City Squeeze. This later became a franchise.

Pizza Patron is a franchised chain of pizza restaurants founded in 1986 by Antonio Swad. Swad is also known for founding Wingstop restaurants.

The logo of this franchise is a man wearing a fedora hat. “Patron” in Spanish can be translated to “the boss”.

The company’s slogan “Mas Pizza Menos Dinero” (More Pizza Less Money) was used between 2001 and 2017. The new slogan is “Pizza like a Boss”.
