Dennis and Ann Pence started Coldwater Creek when they decided to leave New York City in 1983 and start a business they could operate from the pristine rural location of Sandpoint, Idaho.
At first Coldwater Creek was a mail-order catalog business with a catalog printed in only one color. By 1985 the catalog had evolved to be a four-color catalog called Northcountry, which had commissioned original artwork and photography of rivers and mountains alongside the photos of merchandise.
The fast-growing company upgraded its computer systems in 1991 and began to track customer data, allowing the purchase records and demographic information to be used to increase sales. That same year, profits were $1.6 million on revenue of $11 million.
Coldwater Creek opened its first retail store in 1995 in Sandpoint. Other retail and outlet locations followed.
The company went public in 1997, trading on the NASDAQ under the ticker CWTR. The IPO raised $37.5 million for the company.
Today Coldwater Creek has more than 350 retail stores, over 6,000 employees, and had $742.5 million in sales in 2012.

First time ordered a skirt and a flannel long jacket. Skirt arrived but was too big called company who informed me to place it back in bag and send back for another size. this was in the third week of September. I called them on 9/25 as I was billed for both skirt and jacket. I informed the woman that I never received the jacket she stated that their record showed that it was shipped with the skirt. No way as the bag was small and left in my regular sized mailbox. I called my credit card company who credited the jacket. I have called another two times as no skirt and no jacket. This was the first and last time I will ever order anything from this company. The irony of this was that the catalog was put in my mailbox by error. It belonged to another neighbor. Please rectify.

This company sucks big time. Placed an order for three items over 3 months ago. Got one item in 9 days, got the second item in 6 weeks, still no third item. I called to cancel the third item and was told I couldn’t be cancelled, but they had no idea when it would be shipped. What kind of company does business this way? They sell stuff they don’t have but don’t tell you they don’t have it. Will never, ever, shop at this place again and neither will my family or friends.

I have been a Coldwater Creek customer for over 30 years. The former owners had a store in a great outdoor mall just across the street from me.
However, I had given up trying to order on your site until last night. You have a terrible data base and ordering system. I cannot change my email address to the one I have had for years. You just keep posting the very old one. Therefore, I cannot order!!! The customer service person on the phone last night was terrible. The only thing you did do was post to my checking account right away. Today, it took 15 minutes for anyone to find my order. They say that I cannot be notified when or if it ships. This is a dress for my daughter for a wedding she is going to attend. If this goes on for more than a few days, I will cancel. So very sad. Always was my favorite clothes company.

To whom it may Concern,
I have been ordering from this company for over 20 years. A few times the merchandise has come late, but I’ve always received the merchandise in a timely fashion. However, I have ordered order# 02604396 { Pintuck Leather Flats in Copper //size 7 1/2 wide]. I was told that it was on back order, but would be delivered June 9th. In June I called to check on my copper Pintuck Flats. They to me it was not going to be delivered until July 11th. In July I contacted your company, again. Now I’ve been told August 19th. I am very dissappointed that I have been treated so unfairly. It has been four months.

I’ve called the business office twice now asking them
to discontinue advertising on my computer! But, so far they not complied.
PLEASE discontinue your ads on my computer. I have placed two orders and don’t want to be tempted to order anything else!!
Thank you. I do look forward to the winter catalog though.

I have written, called, complained and still no response from CWC! I am so very frustrated regarding this last return & I don’t know what else to do except write the CEO of CWC. Still trying to get a credit for my 2nd return on 6/11/18 on some jeans that I no longer needed. Please contact me or I’m putting it out on Facebook what a terrible time I’m having getting a credit from your company. I patronized Coldwater Creek when they had shops in the Denver area but since they have closed their stores here, I have come to realize that it’s too difficult to shop and try and get credits for returns. If I ever get the last return settled, I will no longer be a customer of Coldwater Creek.

I so agree with the lady Merilyn 12/3/17 3:27pm, your things are outstanding-but you have closed your store in “The Avenue”, Upper Roswell Rd, Marietta, Ga 30062 I was so disappointed!! I have gone with the flow & ordered on line but today I tried to fill out a form, & went back to the shopping cart, saw I had ordered too many blouses, I tried everything to find the spot to X one out & could not, so I called customer service for help, 800-510-2808, I got a recording that said I had won a hundred dollars, then the second time I called I got a recording that said I had won a cruise, then it was something else, then when I did talk to a person they wanted my CC before they even fixed my shopping cart to delete 1 blouse, they were Indian speaking people, no disparagement on the people from there, but I could not understand either of the 2 I spoke too! I know it probably costs less to put the customer service in India but, now I won’t get the blouses I want, because I was given the run around & around!! Please put that store back I loved going to, it was easy to get to & all! Also I am not a happy camper & will most likely tell my friends of my dilemma! Thank you for listening, whoever reads this!!

I want to congratulate CEO Jill Brown Dean on her buyers. I am 87 & SO glad to have a company that doesn’t cater to only 22- year-olds (& their figures) & doesn’t have 99% of the clothes full of spandex. I have a closet full of CC clothes from years past that still look stylish & good on me. Yes, I have outgrown some, but… I pass them on & order more. I was devastated when the store closed in Columbia, SC. I heard that CC was considering opening another store here. I HOPE you don’t open in the Harbesson (I don’t know how to spell that name) Mall. It is a mess over there, traffic is a nightmare. Stick to Columbia NE. I think you must be the only company that advertises “easy fit”, just right for us older folks with some unwanted rolls around our middles. Beautiful clothes, lots of 100% cotton. I can find something I love in every catalog. Thank you!!!
I want to add that I was in the very first CC store – was it Idaho? My husband & I went to many Elderhostels (now called Road Scholar) around the US & somehow we were in the vicinity of a store I had never heard of so we visited. Loved it.
