Your Mexican workers in La Habra California give very poor service to Asian American and black American customers . They give us the wrong items or just completely leave out the items we order and when brought to their attention they don’t fix the issues. They speak in Spanish to each other , assuming we don’t understand and they say racist things about Asian Americans and black Americans to each other . Please hire non racists or train the ones you hire that in this nation , discrimination towards paying customers is bad for business . I’m warning everyone about your racist workers

The Birthday Breakfast coupon didn’t work, when I attempted to redeem it, it took me to an unsecured site and no further. Cashier asked me to contact corporate. Hubby ordered Bruce’s omelette and me the Roast Turkey open face sandwich off the sandwich section. The open face turkey sandwich came with no red potatoes or cranberry sauce as the menu described. The turkey was great, but the potatoes would of made it better. Bruce’s omelette looked good, but the wheat toast was charred black. We didn’t complain to our server, it was busy there. Thought you should know. I have photos if you want em.

Really bad place to work… after opening two weeks, currently getting on day a week and get sent home after a short shift.. Meanwhile the girl who’s mom and aunt work there ( she was hired AFTER ) gets all the shifts she seems to want. Nobody can survive on one shift a week… management seems to be nonexistent…
Food… mashed potatoes are NASTY and was served black hard meatloaf, took 20 mins to get that replaced and it still tasted like Sh*t plus it had towel lint stuck to it…

Love love love Black Bear. Food and service is always excellent. I would like to suggest that they look into putting one in Oakhurst CA. With over 4 million tourists visiting Yosemite. Highway 41 is one of the main corridors into the park. With 3 new hotels and numerous air b&b and BB’s. There are a couple of locations along highway 41 that could easily be remodeled into a diner. There is a Denny’s but the service and food is terrible.

Did you know that Black Bear offers franchising? Sounds like they would be a great idea for new business in that area. Love Black Bear!

Big fan of black Bear dinners as I use to travel up both on 99 Freeway and ate at the all the time. Love the food and great service. When they open the Signal Hill and Buena Park locations I attended both on a regular basis. But I just had the worst experience at the Buena Park location today where I will not eat there again. Took a party oh nine for lunch. Zak told my wife a 25 to 30 min wait. After 40 minutes asked Zac how much longer. Stated it wii be another 20-30 minutes. I explained that I understand the wait, but will it be 20 minutes more or longer. He than started to argue with my wife that he said it was going to be 45 minutes. I explained that I just wanted the truth so we can make a decision to stay or leave. He than told me “dude I’m doing the best I can”. I decided to walk away to not make a seen but asked a counter person for the manager card. In ten minutes Zak came to me to tell me or table was ready. He literally walk up to me and started walking to the dining area. I asked him to stop as I did not hear what he said. I told him that I understand he was young but he was being quite rude at this point. He than started to apologize for his behavior. We were seating and I happen to notice it was the manager Rich. I told him what happen and he stated he heard a little bit about it and would look into it. Rich unfortunately never came back to talk to us or give a simple apology. They have lost a long time customer who regular ate there once or twice a week. P. S we waited another 42 minutes for our food.

I trained at your St. Charles, Missouri location. When on the last day of training I received my schedule, it was opposite of what I said I was available in my interview. The management had no intention of changing it so I had no choice but to find another job. Anyway, I never received pay for my week of training but I did receive a w2 in the mail. I can’t seem to get a response from corporate so I thought I would try this.

I would like to share my recent experiences at several of your Diners. I have visited about 14 of your diners. I would like to thank the young man from the Fresno Black Bear Diner informing us of the passport. The service at your Los Banos diner was excellent. The manager came to the table and asked how everything was, at that time we shared with him we had visited several of the diners. In fact he introduce the owner to my husband and told him we had been to several diners. The service at the new Fresno store was excellent, along with Madera, Visalia, Tulare, Yerka, Redding, Shasta, Turlock, Oregon just to name a few. I did have a concern with Merced, it took awhile to greet us. The place was semi empty. The service was slow. Every Black Bear Diner I have visited is always busy. We are enjoying the different diners in the different communities.

After dining at your stores in So. Nevada for many years, I find it necessary to complain about COPERATE DECISIONS concerning staffing at the 8565 West Sahara Las Vegas Nevada 89117store. MY wife and I noticed slow service in welcoming, waitressing, and cooking, so I started TIMING. The time for us was FORTY FIVE minutes to get our food after ordering and a HOUR and a HALF total. I checked with neighboring diners and found this to be average. When I inquired about this situation I was told that CORPERATE was planning on more downsizing, and in fact naming DARIAN as the next person to go. This is WRONG as he is one of the best waiters I’ve seen. There does seem to be a problem here, but it has to be in CORPERATE not it the work force, as they are woefully understaffed. Solution being too much supervision and not enough working people. This isn’t the BEAR that I know, and if it is I, being the customer, won’t patronize your stores. I’ve been in SO. I went for a much anticipated Rib Roast dinner, served only on Saturday only and was so disappointed. This happened in the Murrieta, Ca. Location. First of all, there were no utensils on the table, only fork and napkin. So the waitress took our Rib roast order and later brought our soup and I ordered salad, still only fork and napkin at the table. I ate my salad, hoping she would bring me the rest of the standard table setting of fork, butter knife and teaspoon, didn’t happen. I buttered my muffin with my fork. Next , she brought our Rib Roast, no au jus! It’s dry and no good. I have been going out from fast food to the finest restaurant and never once asked for the standard eating utensils and of course an au jus that comes with the Prime Rib. Not a very good first experience on your diner.

Hi! I have been going to the Modezto Black Bear Diner since they arrived here. At first it was great! Now, almost everytime we order out to go meals, there is at least 1 problem. Example no bacon on my 3 egg, bacon breakfast. Forgot the potatoes on my chicken dinner. No tomatoe on my husbands burger. No salad with our large meal. No cornbread muffins woth our dinners to go. These are the examples of just a few things we have faced. It seems to happen most the time.
The manager is nice when we hv to call, but the point is…all I want is it checked everytime to make sure it is done right. We finally decided to try another restraunt to see if they get it right? Out of 5 times they got it right. I told them thank u for always getting it right and asked how they can? They assign 1 person a night to check on to go meals to make sure it is right! Great idea!!!
I bet Modesto has lost customers.
I have tried the prime rib 4 times. I love prime rib. Never got it right once! Just quit buyiing it!

My wife and I have eaten at Black Bear Diners all over the West and usually thought it was a good value and good quality food. Still feel that way except for a couple of meals. Yesterday afternoon we dined in Woods Cross, Utah. Wife had the meatloaf dinner which she really enjoys. We also enjoy the turkey dinner and pot roast dinner. This visit I tried the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast. I regret not taking a photo to share but it was the usual oval plate with the top half covered with the diced red potatoes……2 eggs on the side below that…….and the smallest Chicken Fried Steak (beef fritter) next to the eggs. I suspect the fritter was a 4 ounce, but the smallest fritter I’ve ever seen….. about 4 inches in diameter. The food was well prepared and the service was excellent, but from a corporate level I think you’re really missing the mark with this meal. For $11.49 the COG’s was probably $1.25 or less. I’m all for profit, but this is a little overboard. No, the meal was not filling although I ate most of the potatoes and the pancake I appreciated in lieu of a Biscuit. I assume the menu’s are corporate based and I’d hope you’d take another look at the portions of some meals. This breakfast plate did not meet your promotion of “hearty portions with extra to take home”. I anticipated the fritter would cover half of the plate. Not so and not filling nor a good value. We’ll continue to go to Black Bear but will be more careful what we order. I don’t fault the WX Diner because I’m sure they serve what Franchise requires, but we’re seeing a decline in Quantity in recent visits across the west. If this is a Corporate Diner……….I’d hope you’ll take another look at least at the breakfast plates and quantities. Potatoes are cheap; eggs are cheap; pancakes are super cheap and meats, including the fritters, should be comparable to the pricing. This meal as served should have been priced in the $6-8 range. Thank you.

Went to the Madras location on our way back to Portland and when we walked in we were not greeted at the door we had this blonde lady yelling across the room how many how many I looked at my husband she talking to us again how many I said 2 she said go sit over there! I think this is a very unprofessional way to greet your customers, well this same lady waited on us and gave us a good deal on our food but told us not to say anything or she would get in trouble if we come in we have to ask for her section. I found this very disturbing as a business owner I would not appreciate my employees giving things away and Kim is definitely lacking in integrity!

Vacaville, California location. We eat at Black Bear Diner a lot and have never been so disppointed with them until tonight. Ordered the Beyond Burger when it arrived the patty look funny, took a bite and it was disgusting. I lifted the burger and it had only been cooked on one side. Told the waiter and he took it back, the manager told me that that is how they are cooked. I explained how disgusting it tasted and want a regular burger. My husband was done with his meal and I still did not have mine. I asked for the receipt and the manager offered me to take the meal home, I had ordered with potato salad and here she had it boxed with fries. I am so disappointed, my Valentine Dinner was ruined.
Please let me know when this is handled.

My wife and I went to the Yuma AZ Black Bear Diner the Friday before Xmas Our experience was discusting, No one to greet us ( another party of three said they had been waiting about 15 minutes to be seated ) on hearing this an employee who was sitting in the lobby said he would find someone to seat us. A few minutes later we were led to a table, a waiter arrived moments later and he was the only positive of the whole experience. we ordered their fish fry special which arrived burnt and covered with grease, the waiter returned it to the kitchen for a remake when it eventually returned it was now undercooked and greasier than our first order. There were 3 balls on our plates and I had to ask my wife what they were, she said Hush Puppies …. all I know was they were hard , dry and uneatable. Could have been handy if we wanted to play baseball. The following day I sent an e-mail to their corporate office, no response so about 2 weeks later I sent another e-mail, still no response so this morning I phoned the corporate office at 11:20 PST and got a message that they were closed. I left a message asking what kind of business closes in mid morning. I also explained my 2 earlier e-mails and ask for a call back. I am not expecting to hear anytime soon so I guess our experiences with Black Bear Diner ( s ) has ended.

This evening my wife and I were at the Black Bear on Hesperian Blvd in Hayward CA. We both ordered chicken parmessian dinners, as we have done many times in the past. When our meal came, my wifes chicken was totally black on the bottom and she was unable to even cut it, mine was very brown but edible. I flagged down a young waiter who returned her meal and we waited for a new meal The pasta that was served with the meal was at best luke warm and was very dry with little sauce. Not once did our waitress come by to see if the issue was corrected or not. On the receipt the waitress is identified as cashier 3, and I don’t recall her name, other than mentioning to my wife I felt she had no idea of what customer service is. When I went to pay the bill, the young lady at the register asked how our meal was and I told her we were very disappointed with the food and the lack of service. She said there was no manager there to speak to but she said they had a new cook and perhaps that was the problem/ We have been loyal customers and have enjoyed many locations for dining, but we will seriously contemplate if we will return. Very disappointed.

GROSS!!!! And let’s just say…how is the restaurant managed. Quality control.
What if he gets sick– i said to the manager. (hepatitis, flu just to name a few things I worry about) AND she says- I will comp his meal. WOW thanks so much—

We eat at Black Bear Diner approximately once a month. My daughter loves the pancakes, eggs & crispy bacon off the kids menu.
My husband is vegetarian, and has limited choices but used to always order the MorningStar Veggie patty to swap out one of the burger options & was happy with this option. Corporate has recently changed the MorningStar Veggie patty to the Beyond Beef vegetarian option.
The Beyond Beef veggie patty is a meat-copying substitute which is a great, healthy choice for meat eaters, but for vegetarians who don’t enjoy the taste of meat, it is a change that makes the option undesirable.
Many vegetarians CHOOSE to be vegetarian because they DON’T LIKE the taste of meat.
We sincerely hope the Black Bear Diner will change their choices back to include the MorningStar veggie patty (as well as the Beyond Beef patty) and continue to offer more healthy choices!
Thank you!

Black Bear diner in Colma has dishonest employees and a store manager who is unapologetic for the mistakes they make. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BELONGINGS UNATTENDED! Better yet DO NOT come to this location!
I went in for breakfast with my family, everything was fine until we were leaving. I noticed that I forgot my sunglasses. When I went back to retrieve them the table had already been cleared. I then asked our server who shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I walked back to the car with my son and double checked there knowing that I left them behind on our table. My husband then went back in asking serveral employees of the restaurant, and there they were passing him on to other employees when they could have communicated with each other. They told him to check the bathroom and other areas of the restaurant that I was no where near. He walked out of the restaurant empty handed. I walked back in to the booth we were sitting at got down looked under the table and pulled back the condiment rack. While I was doing so I noticed all the servers and hosts congregated in little groups whispering. That is when our server walked back to this cabinet behind the booth were sitting at, looked me in my face and told me no one found my sunglasses, then 10 seconds later pulls them out of the cabinet! (Keep in mind my husband walked to the same cabinet with a female hosts/server and she opened the opposite door stating the same lie.)
At that point I was frustrated and asked for the store manager (Ross). I explained what happened, and there was no real concern or apology for the actions of the employees. The actual response was, “well I’m glad you found them.” I asked for a corporate number from Ross only to get a cell phone number instead.
I googled the corporate number spoke to a lady named Denise, further explained my story for her response was, “people do strange things”. Still no apology or acknowledgement of their wrong doing.
Yes, it was my fault for forgetting them, but Black Bear Diner employees be honest, take accountability for your mistake and admit when you’re wrong.

We visited your restaurant in Emeryville, Ca on 8-19-18 and our bill with tip was $149.82. There was 7 of us. The food was good and big portions. I am not complaining about the food, however when we left the restaurant we were approached by a police officer who asked it that was our white van. Someone had broken out the passenger side window of our van which was a rental and stole a backpack from inside. We were parked in the first space under a light across from the restaurant. Luckily this was our last day of vacation, so it didn’t ruin our vacation however it did put a damper on the visit. I suggest some kinda of security is done on the premises so this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

On 8/14/2018, we went to the Black Bear Diner in Grants Pass, Or. After ordering our meal, I went to the restroom to wash my hands. It was grimy from lack of being cleaned. The sinks and counter hadn’t been cleaned in days. (if not weeks) I lost my appetite and wanted to leave the Diner. I can only guess how gross and dirty the kitchen must be. But since we had already ordered the meals, I could not talk the rest of my party to leave, they were afraid that they would have to pay for the meals ordered. So we stayed. I noticed dead flies in the window sill by the table. We also had to wave flies away from the table while trying to eat a meal that didn’t taste good. One taco salad had the shell over cooked. I had a side of potato salad which I only took one bite, it tasted off. It was gross!

Management in black bear diner tarzana is the worst I have ever witnessed. As a server I did not get to take a break a couple times. There was also a forever changing schedule in the middle of the week with no notice. The manager gossips telling other servers that he won’t schedule people hoping that they will just quit. Does not tell employees how to improve their work ethic or give warnings to let them know what they are doing wrong. Always put of supplies and lower management has no idea what as going on .
