Bealls Florida, often simply called Bealls, was founded in 1915 in Bradenton, Florida, by Robert Beall. Beall used his entire life savings to purchase merchandise and rent a store. He had no money for display cases so he used the packing crates his merchandise had come in. The original name of the store was “The Dollar Limit” as nothing in the store cost more than $1. Bealls might be the original dollar store. The name was changed in the 1950’s.
Today, Bealls has more than 500 locations throughout Florida, as well as outlet stores in several states and online shopping. The company offers a wide range of clothing and shoes for infants, children, women, and men. The company also offers bedding, household appliances, patio furniture, and housewares such as dishes and silverware.

Very disappointed in Bealls department stores the last two years. The quality is gone, no name brands anymore. Checked the one in Port Charlotte Fl. and it was the very same as in Englewood, Fl. I will no longer be shopping at your stores. Have heard many people with same experience.

I shop Bealls Vero beach out of necessity. Yesterday I was in the area of Bealls in Port St Lucie #023. It was like 2 different companies. PSL was the best shopping experience ever. Associates were more than willing to go up and above helping you! Everyone was pleasant. This is the kind of shopping experience everyone should have. It makes me want to work there. Vero beach the associates are rude when you can find one. They see you coming they run the other way. Never say hello, have a nice day I can’t believe it. I have noticed a difference in the traffic in the store not like it used to be. You have no one to blame but yourselves. Been in the store 4 times in the past 3 weeks NOTHING on sale. No more coupons mailed out. Sorry Bealls you’ve lost it too!

Had the worst experience at the Beach blvd Bealls store in Jacksonville Florida. On June 19th at around 530 pm I was greeted at the store by a nice women welcoming me and telling me all clearance was an additional 40 percent off. I was shopping with my college aged son and teaching him how to find his sizes. We shopped around found many shirts for him. We went to the scanner to check prices. We made our selections and went to the check out counter. Clerk was not very friendly as I told my son to watch the prices. The clerk said oh they are different a lot of the time. Not our problem. We both finished our transactions . We decided to go back to the scanner and compare prices. They kiosk scanner prices were lower. I called a mgr over and asked. She was a guest service mgr. I inquired as to the prices she responded with yeah that’s the online Bealls not us, so prices can be different. She was short and quite rude. My son as shocked at her treatment to us. I left store but stopped to ask greeter the managers name. She had NO idea. Wish I had more time and I would have spoken to the male mgr who was behind the register. I am a secret shopper by trade. What kind of service was this, inexcusable in my opinion. I will shop at the Bealls outlet and no longer return to this Bealls store.

I have NEVER been more humiliated, mortified, embarrassed and angered. I went to purchase a necklace at Bealls in Englewood. I was denied, as the clerk said the account had been closed for lack of activity. She offered to open a new one, which would also carry a 20% discount. I was hesitant, as I did not want a hard pull on my credit that would post to me credit report. No one could tell me whether it was a hard or soft pull. Never expecting – in a MILLION years – I decided to proceed. After several minutes of the clerk and me, as well, speaking to, what I assumed was the credit department – by whom I was asked several questions that were just this side of them asking for my right arm, my first born grandchild and a pint of blood – I was told they need time to complete the decision process. WHAT???!!!!! With the 20% discount, the entire purchase would have come to approximately $15.00. I have an excellent credit rating, which Bealls has affected with, not only closing my account, but then denying a new one. After several phone calls to “Customer Service,” Equifax Credit Reporting and the corporate office, there still are NO answers for me as to why I was denied. The last person, to whom I spoke, verified my information, then told me to call Comenity Bank, who is thw bank they do business with. She also said that I wasn’t necessarily denied, they just needed more information – like I said, did they want my right are, as well???? It was $15.00, for God’s sake!!! I had ALREADY spoken to Comenity, who told me that it is not them that approves or denies credit, that it is Bealls. I will NEVER, EVER enter a Bealls store again, never mind buy anything there.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced! They do not care about what their customers want. They take the easy way out and do not care even when the “screw up” was their fault. They are rude and disrespectful on the phone. They told me, “If you want to know why it was undeliverable, you call FedEx, the wait was too long!” The nerve! They do nothing to make it up to the customer! They also hung up on me. Very disgusted!

We returned to Florida for and as always looked forward to shopping at the Bealls in Avon Park, Florida. To our dismay the store has changed how it arranges the clothing. We always loved that the Petite clothing was in one section and we enjoyed browsing, but, now all the clothing sizes are mixed together making shopping more time consuming and less fun. Please change this new clothing arrangement back to separate sections. I will be looking for other stores that arrange their clothing in a more customer friendly way. Thank you.

Went to our local Bealls in Seminole Florida with
some neighbors and we were all totally shocked
To see how they changed the store around. I’m
A petite looking for the petite department only
To find all sizes were mixed together. You have to
Look for the brand. It was so confusing and
Difficult to shop Not interested in going through
Size 20 18 to look for 10 petite. Spoke to a few
Other customers wandering around, and everyone I spoke to was just as frustrated as we were. Think I’ll go to Steinmart til you fix things up
Hope you will reconsider your marketing plan

I purchased a black cotton dress on clearance. When I tried on the dress at home, it seemed a bit thin to wear out so I decided to wear it as a nightgown to bed. When I woke up in the morning, my white sheets and comforter were stained black. My skin was also stained black on my armpits and chest. I washed the sheets and comforter several times, but the stains would not come out. I took the sheets and dress back to the store. They provided a refund for the dress and stated that corporate would send me a check to replace my sheets and comforter. A few days later corporate called. The woman was very nasty on the phone, accused me of trying to swindle them out of money and said I was lying! I don’t deserve to be treated like that. I am very upset and just want to be reimbursed for the damage that Beall’s clothing did to my sheets, comforter and my skin.

I called your outlet store in Orange City today May 16th, 2019 at 4:05 pm and was told by the lady that answered that you had a pair of Boca Classic khaki cargo shorts in light brown size 40 with velcro closing cargo pockets. So I drove out from the Lake Mary area to get them. When I arrived 50 minutes later there were two ladies working the cash registers and one lady was at lunch. So I asked them where were these cargo shorts? Both ladies told me they did not talk to me on the phone and there was a third lady who was at lunch who they said I probably talked to. The older taller lady with gray hair checked the floor and could not find a pair of Boca Classics in any size. At my request she checked to see if the pair was set aside and did not find any. So I asked her to contact the lady at lunch and she said that she would not do that because she was at lunch and said rudely there was nothing more she could do.
I drove all the way out from Lake Mary on the bad advice of one of your Sales Ladies and none of your employees seem to care.

I have been a Bealls shopper for many years but since the LakeMary/Sanford store closed it has become extremely
Inconvenient to shop at a store. It is now 30 miles to the nearest store in either direction. Shopping on line is difficult if you want to try on garments and shipping fees do not make it financially smart. Are there any plans to open another store in the growing area of Lake Mary?

I am a former employee and my tax information was not sent to my mailing address P.O. Box 69XXXX, Orlando, FL 32869. I was told I could print my tax form, but I had forgotten my employee number. I was given my employee number but still was not able to print my tax form. As we are approaching April 15th tax day, I would like to file my tax form, but still am not able to access that information. I need my employee number again. I will call corporate office and see if I can speak to someone concerning my dilemma.

I have been a customer since 1992 with perfect credit. I go in to make a $95. purchase today and was advised my acct. had been closed due to the Patriot Act – no physical address. I contacted Cust Serv to see how they could close my account without notification? BTW I paid my balance totaling $285. in August and my account was closed on 09/07/2018 and the credit reporting agencies were notified on 09/08/2018. I was told notification to me about the closure was either by email, phone or mail. I have my emails as far back as 2016 and the latest email I received from Bealls was Aug. 2018 thanking me for my payment. At this point I don’t care if I have a Bealls account or not. However, my credit score will change due to the account closure. Any thoughts on how you can retain valued customers of 26 years without closing their account. Maybe when a customer comes in the store to make a purchase the sales clerk could get a flag in the system asking for a physical address. Talked with 2 customer service representatives and a supervisor. The 1st customer service rep happily told me that Bealls was closing all “old” accounts. The Supervisor said he understood my frustration. I am filing a complaint with the BBB. I understand the Patriot Act and support the requirements. I don’t like my account closed and reported to a credit agency where my score is affected.

I’m thinking, I payed the full amount of my payment for February. Getting my new statement for March show a late fee. I call customer service that person did not help me. I spoke to the supervisor. She didn’t help either. I STILL GOT CHARGED A LATE FEE of $38. Because I was LATE $1. Really!! Thats not right. Hard working people like myself & others. Trying to pay our bills. All I ask for was to waive the late fee. ? A LATE FEE over $1 DOLLOR That’s Ridiculous!! I’m very disappointed. I love shopping at Bealls. But because of this I’m having second thoughts. ITS WRONG!! Bealls hope your company changes your late fee policies.

Wednesday I went to Bealls. I picked out a purse and wallet for a Christmas present for my mother. As I was checking out, I was informed that I could not purchase the purse or accessories. I had to come back on Thursday or Friday, because it was not in her system yet? I thought she was kidding. But sure enough. And then I tried to,purchase a couple tank tops. One did not have a tag, but was the only white extra small. I had the exact tank in gray, but was told once again, that I could not purchase the white tank. She said she was to busy to go check. I left the store infuriated. It was 9am. I work in customer service, and have a high tolerance for ignorance, but this incident was in excusable.

When you place an order make sure it’s received on the other end as I sent my grandson a gift ordered online and a month later nothing. When I called I was told “oops we made an error and it’s not going to ship”…I ordered it in November and it’s a Christmas gift…are you kidding me. No refund either if I hadn’t called. NOT acceptable business for me to shop from if not made right!!!

When you call the customer service phone number listed on the Bealls Florida website (800-569-9038) there are many options for different departments (credit, delivery, order not received, etc) but no option for customer service. When I used one of the options (I think it was #1), I was told that the customer service people liked to hide. Interesting!
