Concord Pet Food & Supply, often called Concord Pet, began in 1978 when the Mutschler family began looking for an easier and less expensive way of feeding their horses. Larry Mutschler began by selling pet food, including horse feed, out of a mobile home on the family property. Mutschler opened his first retail location, a 1,000-square-foot building, on Concord Pike in Wilmington, Delaware, and thus began the name. Larry Mutschler was the only employee at first, but later added family members and a family friend as a partner. This building is still in use today as a warehouse for the company.

Today, Concord Pet has 28 locations between Malvern, Pennsylvania, and Seaford, Delaware. The company focuses on personalized attention such as carrying food bags to customer’s vehicles and offering expert advice on the proper feed and care of animals.

Just had a remarkably rude interaction with the assistant manager at the Concord Pet in Baltimore Pike. One of 3 CP I regularly shop at, 2 young guys behind counter could not have been less interested in helping me find a dog water bottles. Told me they didn’t have any. I merely politely noted to them that in my experience they often don’t have what I’m looking for (at this particular store for some reason). The assistant manager, instead of saying, I’m sorry to hear that, took offense and started mouthing off to me. Asked if I had seen all the stuff they do have to offer in the store. Told me it was a private company and told me to leave the store. I said politely he should spend the rest of the day working on his customer service and attitude. Then he really got angry and pointed to the door and said leave. His name was Troy I think. What a rude, rude guy. He should be retrained, at the very least, or probably fired. I’ll never go in that store again.

I have been shopping at the Milford DE store since last August. From my first visit, seeking help to feed my newly diagnosed diabetic dog, I have been helped on almost every occasion by Kit, who is kind, knowledgeable, pleasant and concerned to help me get good quality at a reasonable price. I look forward to her assistance or simply her friendly attitude when I shop. Actually, every employee I have encountered at the Milford store has been pleasant and professional. Kit and her co-workers are an asset to your business!

    This email is regarding Cashier 6113 / Register #2 on 5/21/2017 @ 12:13pm.

Hi – I am a frequent shopper at the Fox Run Bear, DE store. When I come in I always purchase 2 of the largest bags of Blue Buffalo dog food – so I have my name on file for the free bag after so many purchases. Here is the exchange word for word between the cashier 6113 (young man with black hair) and me:

Me – Hi, My name is on file for the Blue Buffalo.
Cashier – No, doesn’t work today
Me – OK, can I provide my name to write down for later (Thinking the computer might be down).
Cashier – No, can’t do that.
    Me – OK?!
Cashier – There is a 20% off of the entire store today so you get the 20% off, not both.
Me – OK, that is all you had to say to me. No need to be rude.
    Cashier – $81.58
Girl standing next to cashier – Can I help you out to the car today?
    Me – no, thank you
Me – (nodding toward the cashier I had) Customer service at it’s finest?!

I walked to the door and as I was leaving…
Cashier – (to the girl cashier) I don’t care!
Cashier to me – (Yelled in a sarcastic tone) – Have a nice day

I took my bags out to the car and brought the cart back inside as I always do. Then I hear again across the store in his sarcastic tone “HAVE A NICE DAY”.

When I was around his age I worked in a super market and we were given the directive to always care for the customer, assist them as needed, treat with respect, etc. I have never experienced such attitude before and I’ve been with a well known bank for 18 years.

    Thanks, Penny Carlini
