Originally founded as an ice cream parlor in Richmond, Virginia, Convenient Systems, Inc. of Winston-Salem, North Carolina purchased the chain in 1941, then numbering 50 stores.
Today, the company has 60 locations, with the majority of them located in Maryland and 4 locations in Pennsylvania.
In October 2020, High’s launched a new sandwich called the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake.
In July 2022, the company opened its 60th location in Owings Mills, Maryland. This location will have 12 gas pumps and a state-of-the-art car wash.
