Cracker Barrel was founded in 1969 by Dan Evins near Lebanon, Tennessee as a way to improve gasoline sales for Shell Oil.
In the 70s, many of the restaurants were built with gas pumps on site. The chain began to do away with this practice during the gas shortage of the late 70s/early 80s.
In 1981, the company went public. By 1987, there were 50 locations in 8 states.
The company grew quickly during the 80s and 90s. By 1997, there were 314 locations.
In 2012, company founder Dan Evins died of bladder cancer.
Today, there are over 600 locations in 42 US states.
In April 2023, the company closed all locations in and around the greater Portland, Oregon, area due to rising crime rates.
The Cracker Barrel corporate office is still located in Lebanon, Tennessee.

I just want to THANK YOU for updating the menu – order on line to include Beans n Greens, along with the other standard menu items. I travel a lot with my Job and I go to a Cracker Barrel most trips as they are convenient, I am familar with the menu, and food. I was never able to place an order on line for the beans and greens so had to call it in or go to the Cracker Barrel restaurant to place my to go order. Everyone is always so busy at key times and everyone place the staff has always been gracious and provided good customer service. I would let them know I wish they would add it to the on line options. Specifically the Burlington, NC restaurant said they would let the Manager know and it my request passed on. I am sure other folks did the same.
Today, while in my regular office I thought that was what I wanted for lunch and I would check if it was available. AND IT WAS ON THERE. This is customer service.
People as in customers need to be more kind and understanding that you don’t have to be ugly to get your point across. This pandemic has impacted the work place and restaurants hard, staffing issues, supply issues etc., I love the cracker barrel.

Do NOT order any food from Cracker barrel, 2618 Shackleford Road, Little Rock AR! We were order # 594072802 and ordered at 10:45am. We received a message at 11:43 am saying our food was ready. We were in line for curbside pickup at 11:40am and waited for 1 HOUR and 15 MINUTES to get our food! I know this is under coronavirus circumstances, but seriously! Other restaurants have figured it out by now but obviously Cracker barrel has not. By the time we got home, we noticed that they had forgotten to include the fruit cobbler we had paid for. We will never go back to this Cracker Barrel until my mother-in-law insists that we come. On another note, the food did taste good once we were able to eat it. Such a shame. Will happily accept a gift card for the missed fruit cobbler and poor service so as to nudge us to visit Cracker Barrel again (at another location).

I have been eating at CB for years; Gallup. NM, Okla. City, and Lawton (weekly). Reason: usually best coffee in town, excellent Cole Slaw, and usually good salads. I want to praise waitresses Sabra, Rhonda, and Miss Terry in Lawton. They are excellent people. I also praise the resident manager. I rate the food; Halibut, Trout, and Pork Chop dishes are excellent, Roast Beef is tough, smeared in greasy brown gravy and thankfully small portioned, Chicken Fried Steak, Fried Chicken, and Fried Chicken Breast are too heavily breaded, overcooked (both pre and warm-up), the white gravy is like wall-paper paste, meat loaf is ok, I eat in CB also because of the vegetable menu variety. I would like to see the return of the baked half-chicken in apple sauce and the foil-wrapped dishes of half a chicken and roast beef with potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and a cobb corn. Those dishes were well-prepared, appetizing and healthy. I think the resident manager at the Lawton restaurant is an excellent manager but running a training school, he can’t be there all the time. The trainees are often officious, overbearing, and I saw one cause the termination of one of my favorite waitresses. Manager trainees should have no say in wait-staff. AS I said, I eat at Lawton CB primarily 6-7 days a week and know the staff.

I usually enjoy CB…. but the location in Hampton VA is often a problem. Understaffed and as a result a 15 minute wait with a 70 % EMPTY store? This is at least the third time and tonight I just walked out. No reason except poor management at this location.
Sitting at Denny’s… how bad does it need to be to eat here because CB can’t seat 1 person .

Just ate at the Cracker Barrel on 40 East on Executive Dr.in TN. Everything was good and we like to eat there, but today may be our last time. A young man walked in with a small dog in his arms had it near the top of the table. That is not a place for a dog or any other animal. When did Cracker Barrel start letting dogs come in where people are eating. ?

I couldn’t not agree with you more. I don’t like to see dogs in Walmart much less a restaurant. If they are letting dogs in there no more CB for me.

After reading a few of the complaints, it is a MAJOR WONDER the Cracker Barrel is actually still in business. It seems as though nothing is accomplished with the amount of complaints I have just read. I have traveled through most of the states as a tour driver and have stopped at a lot of Cracker Barrels. Was I just lucky to not have this kind of experience? There are about three locations that stand out as being above and beyond for service and friendly atmosphere. One in Stringtown, Ohio, Shelbyville,Kentucky and Baltimore,Md.

I live in Mt. Orab Ohio. The nearest Cracker Barrel is about 45 min or more from our area. Mt. Orab has grown significantly the past ten years. There are may rural areas and town all around us. This town’s traffic has grown since the growth also obviously. So many come from other towns and rural area’s to do their shopping and eating here. We mostly have only fast food restaurants here. If you want a sit down dinner you have to travel even further. I think Cracker Barrel should look into opening restaurant here. Home cooked meals in your restaurant would be a big hit just as our Super Kroger’s is, that parking lot is always full from dawn to dusk!

This article appeared in the Bend Bulletin or local paper, and I wanted to share it with you.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Restaurant
Bend, Oregon
The setting: Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, a restaurant just off U.S. Highway 97 at the north end of Bend. The time: About 9 on a recent Monday morning.
My dining companion and I are seated at a table in the heart of the spacious eatery, surrounded by walls of kitschy farm antiques, not far from a stone fireplace. We are handed tabloid-sized breakfast menus, two feet long when fully open, and printed on both sides. There is no shortage of choices.
A server approaches. “May I get you started with something to drink?” she asks. My companion requests decaffeinated coffee. I start my day with the real thing.
“I’m so sorry,” the server says. “We have decaf, but we’ve just run out of regular coffee. Would you like a latte instead?”
If you’re a coffee drinker, you know there’s nothing worse than sitting down for breakfast in a handsome new restaurant and being told there’s no caffeine available.
It is on the menu: “Freshly brewed, premium blend coffee, $2.99. Bottomless refills.” The couple at the next table is getting those refills. I tell our server I’ll wait for a fresh pot. She again suggests a latte: It is real espresso, she assures me, with a choice of vanilla or caramel flavoring at the push of a button. That’s not what I am looking for, I tell her.
“But we haven’t received our shipment of coffee (from corporate),” the server says.
My companion rises, walks a few steps into the adjacent (and voluminously stocked) country store, and returns with a bag of Cracker Barrel Old Fashioned Premium Blend Regular Coffee. “You might start with this,” she says.
Our server promises to suggest that to kitchen management. She returns to say that’s not the way things are done here. Even though it is Cracker Barrel’s own coffee, it cannot be used to keep the customer satisfied. I wind up settling for water.
Breakfast fare
On to the menu. My companion orders a Sunrise Sampler ($10.39) with eggs, bacon, sausage and ham. I select Grandpa’s Country Fried Breakfast ($10.69) with “all the fixin’s.” That includes eggs, grits, fried apples, potatoes and country-fried steak.
“Oh, I’m afraid you’re going to be disappointed again,” our server says. “We don’t have any country-fried steak today. We ran out yesterday, and the truck hasn’t arrived yet. Would you like chicken-fried chicken instead?”
No, I insist, I don’t want chicken for breakfast. Isn’t this a from-scratch kitchen?
Apparently, it’s not. “We have to wait for the truck to arrive,” the server politely says.
I acquiesce and order a Country Boy Breakfast ($12.69) with three moist scrambled eggs and two slightly overcooked pork chops, made more flavorful by juicy fried apples. The “fixin’s” are inedible, especially the watered-down grits and a white “sawmill” gravy that accompanies a handful of buttermilk biscuits.
My friend nibbles at a cheesy hash-brown casserole that came with her over-easy eggs. Her bacon, billed as thick-sliced, is as thin as the paper on which the menu was printed. Her country ham is exceedingly salty. She takes a bite of smoked sausage and pushes the rest aside.
Another couple leaving the restaurant tell me they had an almost identical experience. When I mention the debacle to a Cracker Barrel staff member (who shall remain unidentified) and assert that with so many good breakfast places in Bend, I won’t be returning here, the employee nods, smiles and whispers: “Plus, most of those others serve bloody marys!”
Indeed, there is no alcohol service at Cracker Barrel, despite seating 180-plus diners.
Turkey and catfish
Just as coffee would have been nice in the morning, a glass of wine would have enhanced our dinner experience. My companion did the best she could under the circumstances, ordering an Arnold Palmer (iced tea and lemonade).
We came on a Thursday evening when Cracker Barrel offers a weekly Thanksgiving dining experience: roasted turkey and dressing ($11.79). My friend jumped at it.
Two slices of turkey breast were fine, she said, but a portion of brown gravy had a film as if it had been sitting for a while. Her cornbread dressing was dry as if cooks had used the company’s own mix without adding onions, celery or other ingredients that augment the flavor. A sweet-potato casserole was satisfactory, nothing more. Turnip greens, simmered with country ham, were grossly overcooked.
I ordered farm-raised catfish ($12.99). Given a choice of spicy grilled or cornmeal breaded and fried, I requested one of each as a sampler. But the kitchen didn’t get the message, as I was served two of the latter variety.
They were not to my taste. The breading was thick and insufficiently seasoned. Gratefully, the restaurant manager responded to my dissatisfaction and brought two unbreaded filets, grilled in butter and seasoned with pepper and other spices. I practically inhaled them. They were delicious.
I would have liked rice with my fish. But that was not an available option, even though Cracker Barrel serves a chicken ’n’ rice dish on Saturdays. There’s nothing New Orleans about the restaurant’s cuisine, and precious little Low Country.
Of my three sides, my favorite was a gently dressed salad of shaved Brussels sprouts and kale with pecans. Pinto beans with a touch of ham were also good. But the breading on fried okra was too thick and oily to enjoy.
Southern theme
The Bend restaurant opened Feb. 4 as one of nearly 650 franchises across the United States. Still based in Tennessee, where it was founded 50 years ago, Cracker Barrel pursues a Southern theme in its food and its country store.
Wooden rocking chairs line the front porch. Two displays stand out just inside the entrance, one of them patriotically festooned with Stars and Stripes, a second promoting Christian literature and music.
Patrons are encouraged to stay awhile, before or after their meals, as they peruse a collection of gifts that include clothing, stuffed animals and Cracker Barrel’s own line of pancake mixes and jams. And coffee.

We had previously had a good experience at this Cracker Barrel in West Memphis Arkansas on 1600 W 6th St. So, we decided to stop and eat here again on our way back home to Texas. We arrived at the Resturant at 8:30pm, five of us. We waited for 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged we were there. We were okay previously good experience . Hotess came and said a table would be cleaned and available soon. The line behind us grew. The hostess was shuffling menus and telling us we would be seated soon. She started seating people behind us. While telling us our table would be cleaned soon. Long story short we waited 30 minutes. She ended up having to clean the table herself which she could have done earlier. Then when we received the food it was overdone and did not receive what we asked for in the side dishes. My son in law asked to speak with the manager and she was not helpful at all. She made it seam like we were the problem. Even in our dissatisfaction we were not rude or disorderly. Better customer service sorely needed.

May 26th 1 pm. Cracker Barrel Zainesville Ohio… I ordered 3 over easy eggs, they came out, 2 solid well done, no runny yoke, 1 had tiny bit of soft yoke, bacon 4 slices cooked nice, 1 completely raw, order buttered rye toast, barely toasted and no butter. Sent eggs back right away and then the raw bacon. A very nice server overheard me say bacon was raw and asked if she could take care of it. The manager Cole Heintzman, came over to I can only guess, apologize, but instead basically said it was no big deal and it would only take 45 seconds.
He came back with the eggs and to my surprise they were not over easy, they were hard. I tried to tell him and he said they were perfect eggs and I need to calm down. When I tried to take a picture he would not give me the plate. I then said forget this and went to eat the piece of bacon and he snatched the plate away from me. He actually played a tug of war with the plate with the eggs on it too! In complete frustration then I said you have got to F’ing kidding me and said I’m not paying for this and he said the door is over there.
I have never met a food manager that was so rude and does not realize that when you order bacon, eggs and toast (easy items) you might want to eat them together.
I would NEVER eat there as long as Cole Heintzman is manager and I will be taking this matter all the way to Cracker Barrels HQ.
Update 6/5/2019: I was contacted by Chylee Ann Johnson to give her my contact information so we can communicate through mail. It has been a week and no response. Cole Heintzman is still the manager, I just called and checked.
At this stage in my life my friends and family are retiring and driving around the country. We all like Cracker Barrel for the store, the books on CD that you can rent and return some place else. We all agree it is ok for breakfast but the store and being able to stretch out while driving.
I can not believe that Cole Heintzman’s representation of Cracker Barrel is ok with the Corporate Office. I have been a business owner and never would I tolerate his behavior. At the very least he should be demoted and retrained.
He publicly embarrassed me and was RUDE beyond belief. Playing a tug of war game with a plate of eggs so I can not take a picture to send to your CO because he knew he was wrong is absolutely insane.
I will keep contacting Cracker Barrel until I am told what their investigation showed. I have suggested you look at the video which you should have in your store.

I have not been to a Cracker Barrel in some time.. I do not wish to have a food coupon or voucher (gift card) to come back either.. I will not be a customer at all most likely ever.. So it would be pointless… I want to share with you my experience.. 1st the waitress had what looked like the start of Pink eye.. and her clothing was filthy.. I overlooked it as she is at work and perhaps she got this dirty at work? 2nd the menu’s where oil stained with some food debris dried on them and had been colored on with crayons..and the table was pretty much the same.. not clean also the card which is displaying the buttermilk pie had dried up food on it as well.. This is just the beginning.. I ordered eggs in the basket with hash brown casserole asked if I could substitute the bacon for fruit? she said NOPE only a meat could be substituted for another meat not fruit.. so I said okay.. and she just stood there looking at me oddly.. I said I will just take the bacon and give it to my dog… so when the food finally arrived.. a different waitress delivered the two meals for my husband and I… she gives me the eggs in a basket with no hashbrown casserole and says oh I will bring you the fruit.. I stated no I just want the hash brown casserole and not the fruit.. My husbands eggs looked like they have been cooked in the microwave and were cold and rubbery. His bacon was soft and undercooked so he didn’t eat that.. You may ask yourself why didn’t we send it back … It was already a hassle … No sending it back as it would just take longer, and I didn’t have time.. When asked at the register “how was everything” I said well it was not okay and that the food was subpar at best.. She says of I am sorry, and went on about some children in the gift store… So I just paid and left.. It was 29.31 …
This location is in need of a cleaning and management that actually manages and cares about the restaurant ..

I might add .. I didn’t take the bacon to my dog.. it was not cooked properly..

We have years of positive memories with Cracker Barrel♥️ Unfortunately Feb.21st was not one of them… A friend and I went to Cracker Barrel in Lake Park, Ga. The parking lot at 2:00 pm had 2 cars in it! We looked around the gift shop and I placed a blouse on the counter to buy on the way home. Waitress sat us right by the kitchen Knew it was my birthday but the food specifically Turkey /gravy was sooo dried out it was crunchy!! Very sad but then she did not bring a piece of cake or sing happy birthday!!!?This is the second time we have tried this place!! Please get new managers and staff in there as it speaks terrible of Cracker Barrel’s warm, family oriented restaurant .??

I live in Frederick MD. The last 5 times that I have ordered take out by either calling on the phone or ordering on line or in person something always goes wrong. I am not sure why I think when I go back anything has changed. I always have to wait for my to go order even if I give ample time for my order to be prepared. The experience today to over an hour……”RIDICULOUS”Many times the vegetables get left out of the order. I have tried talking to many of the managers at this Cracker Barrel. This last time I ordered on line. I was given a time of about 20 minute for the order to be prepared. This was a late lunch. I gave about 30 minutes when I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order. I paid for the lunch and the cashier called back to let them know that I was there. While I was waiting another lady walked in to place a order to go….chicken and dumplings dinner. After about 15 minutes of waiting a to go order came out but it was not mine it was the lady that just order her to go order. I asked the guy that brought her order out how was my order coming along…. he said he does not know he just arrived at work….left me hanging. I then turn to the cashier that took my money for the order,,,,she laughed and stated maybe I should start coming in to place the order (I am steamed at this point and was in no mood to joke about it) I have in fact given that a try in the past and to no avail same situation. Anyway the cashier did call back and say the I am still waiting. Then she said she would get the manager, Never showed up…not surprised. I had ordered roast beef dinner with 3 sides and requested Corn Muffins Only. Got only 2 of the sides and bag full of biscuits and 1 corn roll (haha). I also ordered open faced roast beef sandwich was suppose to come with cole slaw just wasn’t there. The roast beef was so full of fat and gristle I may have gotten to bites of meat. the gravy was half spoonful and was served on burnt toast. I have talked to one manager in the past and his fix was to give me a bag of corn muffins. I called once and said that the vegetables were left off the order they asked me to come back and get them and I lived to far from the restaurant to go back was told that the next time I came in they would take care of it… and of course when I went back the manager was no longer there and the new manager would not accommodate. I am afraid this was the final time for me placing an order to go from our local Crackle Barrel. Customer service was just so disappointing. Cracker Barrel use to be my favorite place. Customer Service and the food of all things are not to par. I actually feel sick from eating there today to the point of throwing up. Fair warning over all situation was not good at all. I have found the Cracker Barrel’s in the south so much better and generally never have a problem. The southern restaurants are worth waiting in line for.. STEP UP Frederick Cracker Barrel. I may wait for a couple more month’s to try again….. just hoping when I do that will not disappoint again. Thank you for letting me vent about this…..just hope someone responds to my complaint. Kind regards, Edna Simmons

I am a long time employee at cracker barrel and recently there are a couple things that i feel i should point out. the first thing is the mold in my building, the employees are meant to do our mac duties so that the store stays the way its supposed to but the gm doesnt care about everyone doing their job he only cares about certain employees in the building doing it all, then when its too much to handle he gets mad and makes you feel like your not doing your job well enough since you cant do the job of 50. my next issue is that everyone is talking about our gm being on mind altering drugs and noone from the other managers to corporate will check in on this when its clearly true. ive been working for this company for a long time and because of these issues i cant say that i will be for to much longer. if someone with any authority reads this and would like to respond back to me ill send you some pictures. im trying to avoid taking further actions by sending this complaint, and would rather not go to the better business bureau but will if these issues continue to occur and be ignored. store #684

I went to purchase a rocking chair at the Belleville Michigan location. We decided to have dinner there and we were disappointed for many reasons. We were seated At tables that were far too close to each other and could not get in and out of our seats without moving the table. My husband ordered the pork chop dinner with mashed potatoes and both items were extremely dry and the potatoes were hard. We did not see our waiter so my husband continued eating. Then a child right next to our table vomited all over the floor and his chair. The father went to get someone, the mother, who tried to clean it as best she could with the napkins on the table, told a waitress, and I went to get someone two times to help her. I spoke to the manager who told me they had to get a kit to clean the mess up. I understand they need to protect themselves when cleaning up a mess like that, but really, how could we eat our dinner while we sat there with vomit on the floor, right next to our table? It took more than 15 minutes for someone to come to clean it. I did not get an apology from the manager, she was clearly irritated that I was upset that it took so long. She told us it wasn’t their responsibility to clean that up and that the mother had napkins to use. She had 4 napkins- the ones wrapped around the 4 placesettings at the table. No one gave her anything to use. We left our meals, drinks and biscuits on the table. I will never go back to that location again. The waitresses were rude and the manager was worse.

I eat at Cracker Barrel a lot. I am very disappointed at your advertising the Campfire meals especially when it show Chicken, either the white meat or the dark meat. When I called to see if I could get one of those meals, they said that they only have the beef meals. If you are going to advertise, don’t show the chicken so that people are wanting that and they can’t get it. That is pure false advertising. I wouldn’t go to your restaurant when you start doing that. I had my heart set on the chicken one. They even have the posters with the chicken on it. You need to make it right on the television ads and the posters. Otherwise you owe people a meal with the chicken. The last time you had it, you served both the beef and chicken. If you need to contact me, use my email address.

Sunday 3/25/18. Starting at 3:44 PM CST I attempted to reach your Casyeville Il location to place an order for carry out. At 5:04 PM after 13 attempts because the line remained busy, I gave up. Now, not that I think the phone business was that busy, but, inadequate staff who did not want to take orders. I base this on two previous orders I had placed when I was give the wrong food the first time, drove home and 20 minutes later had to return. The 2nd time I ordered within a few weeks, I checked the food before I left, guess what, it would have been the wrong order again. Thought I would share this with people for this location. I had sent a complaint direct to your office with the 2nd order, and no response from you. This tells me your locations perform like the corporate office – take no responsibility or concern over the business of a food establishment which used to be good. Time for a change in management from the top down.

I visited the Cracker Barrel in Victorville for the very first time. After hearing on the Nat’l news a new location was opening in Victorville, California. I was pleasantly please with the overall experience. It was very busy on Sunday, 3/5 and waited at least an hour to be seated. It was nice that you can shop while waiting to be seated. I actually purchased some items. The waitress was very nice and the Manager even stopped by our table to see if we were enjoying ourselves and happy with our visit. I was told that Sunday is the busiest day of the week for the restaurant. The food was very good. I had meatloaf, mash potatoes, corn. My husband had the fried chicken with mash potatoes and cabbage. The cornbread and biscuits were really good. Once seated the waitress took our order within a few minutes. I would have to say just waiting for the bill took a very long time. I actually flagged down other workers to ask for the bill. Only improvement for this location would be to give the customers their bill as soon as they receive their food and that would take care of that issue. I really like that you can pay on the way out at the registers located in the front country store. Again, handing bill out immediately after food delivered to table with be a HUGE improvement on service. This is just our visit experience.

I have gone to Cracker Barrel @237 two times in the last two months and was hot happy with the quality or taste of the food both times. My ticket number on the last visit was 1453487. My son was with me on both visits and neither of us liked the taste of the food. It tasted like it had been just dumped from the can and heated and dipped on our plates. There was no seasoning added to the food. Also about a year ago I stopped at this same store and had to send my food back because it was very under cooked and I was not the only person who was sending their food back that day. I think this store needs help to bring the food quality up to Cracker Barrel standards. I have eaten at other Cracker Barrel stores and the food was really tasty. It also took me forever to find this link to send you a message. Can you also make it easier for old geezers like me to contact Cracker Barrel?

I went to the Cracker Barrel on 52th in St. Petersburg Fl. and the dining area was filthy. The table was by the wall and the ledge was so dirty you could have wrote your name in it. The picture frames and decorations were filthy and I spoke with the manager and expressed my concern that if the dining area was that dirty what did the kitchen look like. To top it all when I started to pay and run my card a bug run out and I had to wait for the woman to pick up a napkin and kill the bug before I could pay the bill. Cracker Barrel has always been my favorite place to eat but someone is going to have to clean them up or they are going to be in big trouble. I quit eating at the one on Roosevelt in St. Pete because it was so filthy. Please send someone down here that they don’t .expect to check them out.

Hello, my family and I had breakfast in the Milford Conn. location. I’m Building Engineer by trade. I will never understand the lack of concern when it comes to cleaning. The first thing after walking in the door, is the smell of grease. Than once we were seated , it didn’t take long to figure out why. The grout has become a layer of grease , along with the base of tables and the lower portion of the chair legs. (where the mop hits) I’m sure the HVAC and grease traps are contributing factors. If you would like some means or knowledge on how to correct these issues don’t hesitate to contact me.
Just trying too help.

To Whom It May Concern:
My husband and I enjoy eating at Cracker Barrel whenever we are on road trips. We live near Piketon, Ohio. We think Piketon, Ohio would be a wonderful, profitable location for Cracker Barrel to build a store. Piketon is location on State Route #23 very near an intersection with State Route #32. Piketon is located in Pike County Ohio which is in the southern part of the state of Ohio. Some towns nearby that don’t have a Cracker Barrel are Jackson, Ohio; Chillicothe, Ohio and Waverly, Ohio. There is a large property for sale at the south end of Piketon that would be perfect for Cracker Barrel to build a store. Many, many cars and trucks go up and down Route #23 and east and west on Route #32. Maybe someone from your Feasibility Study group could make a trip to Piketon, Ohio and consider it a great place to build and operate a Cracker Barrel. Hoping to hear from you.

My order was a to go order. I called and placed order with raymond and was told order would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes at the most. I waited and arrived 20 minutes after placing the order. I did this to go order because I was on way to get my child I was assures it would be ready. So when I get there u go to cashier who then proceeds to attempt to look order up where it is no where to be found (THAT TOOK FIVE MINUTES) SHE then asked me who took my order I told her Raymond whom she the proceeded to go and try to find (ANOTHER SEVERAL MINUTES EASY)… RAYMOND THEN COMES TO TELL ME MY ORDER WILL BE RIGHT OUT…. FAST FORWARD TWENTY MINUTES NOW I AM ANGRY , LATE TO PICK UP MY SON, AND NO GOOD STILL WAIT TIME TOTAL INSIDE STORE TO THIS POINT (30 MINUTES) FINALLY I ASK TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER WHO (TAKES ANOTHER FEW MINUTES TO FIND) HAVE TO EXPLAIN WHOLE STIRY AND HE GOES TO BACK IF RESTURANT AND THEN ABOUT FIVE MINUTES LATER Raymond comes with my food which I’ve already paid and ripped for… Total in-house experience in a to go order over 45 minutes and it wasn’t a mad rush there. I get home which is about 10 minutes away just to find most all of my good was and still is cold sitting here in front of me. I have been a long time customer but I must say today I felt like anything but. I truly believe that as a long time customer that I should not only be comped if not more for this. I’m not real happy with my treatment today I never ever complain but come on now 210.815.XXXXX

After waiting for 15 minutes for the clerk to reopen the store during business hours the clerk did not process my lottery request correctly she blamed it on me. She was rude and very much wanted to engage me in a hostile verbal exchange. She also stated that she did not have to serve/wait on me. I was very upset and shaken over this incident upon leaving the store. Not that Cracker Barrel cares………unfortunately I will have to utilize another convenience store nearby. Never want to go through such a scary experience at a convenience store especially at night again

I ordered 2 meals from Cracker Barrell in Dickson, TN. I eat there regularly but this time it was awful. I drove 30 minutes to get there went home and found my fish dinner was not complete, hush puppies were size of a marble, was shorted on my fish which were small and hard, no biscuits, pinto beans were awful. I never complain abt my meals there, but this time was truly disappointing. I went back and the manager told me I should have order two fish but I was not asked. She was rude making me feel like this was all my fault. She did not refun my money but did give me an extra piece of fish with the other cold crunchy one. I was very disappointed and will not go back.

I had ordered a tray of stuffing and 2 pints of turkey gravy for today and when I drove to the store I was informed by your staff they had no record of my order. They proceeded to ask me if I ordered it from that store. I showed them the phone number and said is this the right number. I spoke to your manager Michelle and she toldm she did not appreciate hoe ugly I was being. After the store getting not getting my order at all in the system, she said we could wait for an hour while they got the order together. This was not acceptable. I said after we drove here to get it and she replied oh really where did You drive from. Andshe said where do you want me to drive from? I called back to get her name and she would not give me her last name and she proceeded to inform me that I ordered on the 23rd of November and I cancelled my order which was incorrect. she told me I cussed her out which I did not. Not once did she or anyone else apologize
for their mistake and I told her I was calling corporate and she said fine. I will not do business with the Lawrenceville-Suwanee Ga location again. She continued repeating how rude I was and I told her she was rude too. If this is the caliber of manager you have at your stores it is truly a sad situation. iI ordered on the 26th of November and they lost my order.

I live in Cartersville, GA and am regular diner at your Cartersville location. I wanted to take a minute to sing the praises of our FAVORITE waitress there Mrs. Rita M. We are always met with a warm welcome & she takes care of us just like we’re family. Her service is impeccable. I have made sure to mention it to the manager as well, but wanted to make sure you know what a fabulous employee you have!! Take care of her like she does her customers 🙂

My husband and I ate your Davenport, IA Cracker Barrel last night. The worst part was that we nearly froze and we weren’t the only ones. The lady in the table next to us said she was cold also, another was sitting rubbing her arms and another went out and returned with her jacket. Do you not want us to be comfortable when eating. I call having cold air blowing down on you punishment. My husband was even cold and he does not get cold easily. They always used to have the fireplaces going in cool weather which always added to the atmosphere of the restaurants and warmed you Most of them don’t do that anymore either. When I asked the wait person why it was so cold I was told it was to cool the back for the cook staff. When I cooked in a restaurant, the object was for the customers to be comfortable. I just had to tough it out. I am also seeing the quality of food not what it used to be in several of the Cracker Barrels we have visited lately. My Husband’s hamburger steak was over cooked this time. I sometimes wonder if you are concentrating more on the shopping end these days instead of the restaurant. The store is so full one can hardly get through. I think you had better be careful and concentrate more on the restaurant or you may go the way of Shoneys. It seems most of their restaurants have closed. I first visited both in Nashville and thought they were great with great food.

Last night while dining in the Opelika, Al location I witnessed something terrible. There was a table of 3 close by me and the lady did not get her food cooked properly so she sent it back and it came out WORSE than before. The manager was so rude to these people that it hurt me to watch. The night shift at cracker barrel has become horrible at this location. I will not be eating in there again until things change and i will be posting about the experience on social media to let everyone know how the managers treated the customers.

I have long been a Cracker Barrel customer and advocated for your bringing a store to Morganton, NC. That said, you people know very little about opening a new store. My wife, my mother-in-law and I have frequented your new Morganton store several times, all having been very unsatisfactory eating experiences.
About two months ago, I wrote to your corporate office explaining these unsatisfactory eating experiences while telling you I had discussed the same with both your managers at your Hickory and Statesville stores where we also frequent.
Next, I received your ticket for two free guest meals. In the meantime, there appeared in The News Herald (Morganton newspaper) a news story saying your Morganton store would be closed for two days to enable the installation of new equipment that would speed up table service. The story went on to quote a corporate person as saying the change of kitchen equipment would not be visible from outside the store. Being an old hand at public food service, I knew exactly what that meant. That meant the store manager was being replaced in order to more successfully recruit and properly train new table wait staff, which ” would not visible from outside the store.”
A few weeks later, my wife and I visited your Morganton store again and were seated. After twenty minutes waiting for a wait staff to approach our table, and with no beverage to drink, we left. On the way out, I met and spoke with your new store manager. He was a nice speaking oriental fellow, the former store manager at your Mooresville, NC store. He explained how sorry he was and that he was new and trying very hard to correct matters at the Morganton store.
Today, Saturday May 21, 2016 my wife and I and her mother again visited your Morganton store. We were greeted at our table by a very nice, polite and efficient table waiter who took our three orders.
My wife ordered lemon northern trout, Cloe slaw, and batter fried okra. Her mother ordered chicken tenders, fries, and coleslaw. I ordered the rib eye steak, house salad and baked potato. All with corn muffins, butter & ice tea w/lemon. The ice tea arrived without any lemon.
According to my cell phone clock, the food arrived in 22 minutes which was satisfactory considering the size of the order. My steak was Luke-warm, yet tender. I was not offered any steak sauce. My baked potato would not melt the butter and was NOT freshly baked. My wife’s trout was good she said. She began to enjoy the trout, UNTIL she noticed a long hair in her Cole slaw. That did it for my wife. She ate nothing more!
ONCE AGAIN, WE HAD ANOTHER UNSATISFACTORY EATING EXPERIENCE AT YOUR CRACKER BARREL MORGANTON STORE.
If you people at the corporate office cannot get it right in Morganton, NC…hang up your aprons!
I frankly do not get it. You people do well other places, except at your Lancaster, PA store. Admittedly you are no MILLER’S AMISH FOOD RESTAURANT, neither do you know what you are doing to improve food and food service in Morganton, NC.
What should we expect in the near future?

While dinning in the Morristown , TN location we were seated in the window section and a employee came over and proceeded to let the blind down at our table when I asked her why she said the sun was bothering other customers at other tables, however we like the sun and being able to look outside. I told the young lady that we didn’t want to sit in the dark.. About 15 min. Later this funny frail man came over and started to let the blind down and I told him we will keep our blinds up. He said other people want the blinds down. So I responded it doesn’t matter what we want .. When I told my waitress I was unhappy and I would like to speak to management, the manager never showed up.. However this leads me to concur that had I been Caucasian our come would have been different.. I will tell all my friends on my social media to never eat in Morristown, TN at Cracker barrel;!!!;!

Cracker Barrel located in Summerville SC . Was a very bad experience . We had family visit on April . We decided to have a late evening dinner and cracker barrel would be nice. My family came in from PA. We were a family of five with senior people .. One of the men went to the restroom and left his IPhone. It was found by the staff and then given to the wrong person. Now keep in mind it was late and it was not a lot of people there. We were told the person clamed it. The problem is. Did someone really clam it or did a staff member take it? If someone said its their phone . Why wasn’t that person ask to call the phone and prove it was theirs ? DID THEY really give it away? It was NOT THAT PERSON PHONE. We spoke to the manager and he was very nasty about this issue. The silverware was dirty and we had to wait a while to get a server . The phone was stolen and we will not eat at Cracker barrel again. I see why these reviews are bad . This need to improve .

I was in your resturant in Smithfield, North Carolina today and they were not busy. They did not have any biscuits. My family does not like cornbread muffins. They said that it would be 10 minutes would I like to wait. I had gotten a to go order. They had the rest of my order ready before I was even told. I asked the manager why they were out of biscuits and they were not busy. He gave me an excuse about he had just thrown away 4 pans and all he would say was I am sorry. I was giving this store a second chance. I was in this store on March 26th. Even though they were a little busy. I waited 50 minutes for a together order and they forgot part of my order. They can not seem to get it together and their customer service lacks enthusiam. They say it just to be saying it. I would know I ran a resurant for over 20 years. They should at least offer a free dessert or something. Not a nonshalant I am sorry while rolling their eyes. Not to sure if I will be returning to this particular store.

I was visiting the Ormond Beach, Florida area in February, 2016. I purchased a queen sized quilt at the Cracker Barrel store there. Upon arriving home in New York, I noticed that the security apparatus had not been removed. Removal of this by me, will cause damage to the item. I contacted Cracker Barrel and was advised to mail the item back via USPS or UPS, at MY expense. I already paid a fairly good sum of money for this quilt. I cannot believe that because the associate neglected to remove this apparatus, I am responsible for the charges to return and remove it. Not to mention, my inconvenience. There are no Cracker Barrel stores in the NY area where I live. I will be back in Florida in six months. I am not agreeable to packing and returning it then, as I will incur the additional baggage fees at the airport. What do I do now? I am not happy with your customer service.

My name is Carly and I work at a Cracker Barrel in Alabama. They shouldn’t have you spend even more money to get that fixed. You might could go to a department store and see if they can take it off. We have had the same issues here and we aren’t a store that even has the equipment to take it off or put it on. I hate that happened to you! Maybe a store can take it off without damaging the quilt! Best of luck!

We purchased this flag holder about 6 or 7 months ago that is an eagle sitting on the Liberty Bell. It is now crumbling and has big chunks that have fallen off. It was a fairly expensive gift for my husband, something he had been wanting for a while! Why is something that was made to be outdoors falling apart in less than a year?!

I recently work at Roseville MI cracker barrel. I fell in the kitchen area and they avoided it. Has me writeva statement on a napkin. Then last Thursday I was taking food out and fell hard I hurt my back neck elbow. I asked to fill out a incident and she couldn’t find it. The district manager Brian is great e told me previously to be patient that changes are coming. It is so dirty and unorganized there they go through waitresses because the girls are mean to new hires. A manager named Zokie is mean unprofessional and picks on people with power trip. Gil is very fair and nice. Marlene is awesome. But they let the waitresses bully new girls. I’m considering calling my lawyer.

I had the worst breakfast ever this morning (2-23-16) at the CB restaurant in Maryville/Alcoa TN.
I ordered two eggs and thick sliced bacon. The bacon came out cold and hard as leather, not to mention greasy. It must have been held over from yesterday.
The waitress (Lori) never returned to refill my coffee or to offer further service even though the restaurant at 9:00 am was virtually empty of customers.
It would seem that the store manager as well as both the kitchen manager and cook ought to receive some retraining or perhaps more. The waitress apparently enjoyed talking to some of the customers more than she did serving her customers that were already eating.
This restaurant is capable of better service and better food. I have eaten there many times for lunch and occasionally dinner. But if I get one more meal like the one I had today, I will be only a FORMER customer in the future.
There is absolutely no excuse for the kind of food and “service” I received today.
My breakfast cost $10.08 and was worth about 2 cents.

I am sure Dan Evans and James Brown are rolling over in their graves because of the way Cracker Barrels are being run today. I just noticed today you no longer have the guts to run reviews through each store now but are running them through Yelp! I know for a fact before you made this change you were pulling bad reviews from the store sites too. I am not saying you were pulling all of them but I know for a fact someone at corporate was doctoring them. I don’t need a response unless you are willing to tell me the TRUTH and I know it better than anyone at corporate does right now! You don’t know me but my last name should give you a very good hint! And this business below that I have to with share, like or tweet my comment to make sure it gets seen is pure crap. If you can’t guarantee your customers all comments are important to you I am even more disgusted! All you are doing is asking me to advertise for free for you! I know your little tricks and I am going to share it…with one friend who also knows just how corrupt this company has been getting over the past few years!

Email me back. This is a complaint about store #86 located in 1960 Mel Bowling St. Bowling green, KY 42104. I wish to talk to a actual person to discuss the issues that are taking place behind the scenes. This restaurant has great hard working severs and how they are being treated is unfair and not right in anyway and if no one takes the time to look in to this then this store is going to lose the servers who put their hearts into this company for the love of their co-workers and regular costumers. Please get back to me on this.

I went to cracker barrel on 1/26/16 around 8 pm at the Tupelo, Ms location. I almost refuse to go to any of these restaurants because of the service and food. Tonight was no different. There was almost no one there but after 20 minutes we finally ordered. About 20 more minutes we get the food. As usual I did not get what I ordered. When I showed the waitress she told me that is what I ordered and said she was sorry and kind of laughed and walked away. A person sitting next to us verified he heard and saw me order as I also pointed to what I wanted. About 10 minutes later a manager walked by and I stopped him and explained that I didn’t order this. About 5 minutes later I saw I was talking to the wall so I just told him to take it back I was not going to pay for this. These people are very unprofessional. I personally will never visit one of these restaurants again. All I have to say to these people is DO YOUR JOB, KNOW YOUR JOB, BE MORE PROFESSIONAL. Your restaurant is not the only one that has problems even though it is one of the top 10 worst ones.

Sirs; I have been a long-time fan of Cracker Barrel, both for its food, service and the store with so many cool gifts I have been able to find there over the years. I am sorry to say after our stop at the Oxford, Alabama Cracker Barrel on November 24, 2015, it is doubtful I will ever set foot in a Cracker Barrel restaurant again. We arrived just before opening time in the morning looking forward to a wonderful breakfast, being the very first customers of the day. Fresh biscuits, fresh omelet, fresh hashbrowns, fresh coffee, you get the picture. It turned out to be the most horrible meal I have evern eaten, and my husband is of the same mind. He loves the gravy and bisuits he usually gets at a Cracker Barrel. The gravy plopped out of the bowl like a jello mold. The bacon was overcooked instead of the way he asked. The hash browns we both ordered tasted like they had been cooked in rancid, VERY rancid oil. I ordered a simple mushroom and cheese omelet after being assured real eggs would be used. Not only was the concoction not made with real eggs, the mushrooms tasted rotten and the cheese was fake, and it and the hash browns also were cooked in that same rancid oil. The coffee and the service were good. Unfortunately, you have lost us as customers of any Cracker Barrel as now every time I pass one, my stomach roils. I do hope something is done to turn things around at the Oxford, AL restaurant before sometime gets poisoned! Someone in the kitchen, along with the manager, needs to be fired!! We were served something that should have gone into the trash bin. I have gone from being a very loyal customer to someone who now shuns any Cracker Barrel. So sad! And more’s the pity, you probably won’t even take the time to read this.

Last year on dec 26 we took our grand daughter there for her 6th birthday as this is what she requested. she loved going to the store to pick out gifts. Our meal was terrible. wrong fish came to the table and by time they made up for it the rest of the dinner partys food was cold while waiting for the correct order to arrive. they had run out of dinner rolls so that was another 15 minute wait. The manager was a complete a++ hole.Steak fries looked like they had grabbed them off another plate as they were stone cold and broken up and mushy. the savings grace was the chocolate cake for my grand daughter they brought out for her. So another year goes by since we have even thought about going back ans as my grand daughters request..she wants to go to cracker barrel again. (now mind you..it is just for the store…she is seven years old) So party of six and we go there. once again…HORRIBLE experience. SAME MANAGER!!!!! My daughter in law ordered the chicken fried chicken with extra gravy. so when our orders arrive 25 minutes later…I had to ask for corn bread to keep the two children happy,as none was offered to us..they say it comes when the meal arrives..in my opinion the waitress should ask you if you would like the dinner rolls now or with dinner..anyways.. our food arrives and there is NO gravy on her country fried chicken. the waitress tells her she feels bad esp since she asked for extra gravy and it would be about ten minutes for the gravy..OK complete bs..like my hubby says thats like sending out pancakes without the syrup. The manager walks by our table and I ask him about what is going on..he says very sarcastic we are working on it. again,,,everyones meal is getting cold as we are waiting for her meal so we can begin to eat together. he said there was a mis communication on the timing of when the gravy would be done and that it would be right out. THEN he says to me..i NEVER SEEN ANYONE GET SO UPSET OVER GRAVY!!!..i SAY EXCUSE ME…so we begin to eat finally..everything is stone cold …my son is eating his chicken livers and I notice they are bloody!!!.Josh had never had this before so was not aware that they were not even cooked..the manager asked him if he ate any and he told him yes. I call the manager over to the table and he agrees they are NOT cooked..again he has his sarcasm and says it’s not like eating raw chicken it is undercooked livers. UMMMM excuse me..YES that is dangerous to eat!!!! the point of the matter is he was actually humilating me in the resturant and trying to argue the fact.He asks my son..what else can he get for him…josh says some chicken tenders. 19 minutes later his dinner arrives and josh says..where are my french fries!!! they were on the other plate of RAW chicken livers..the manager goes back to the kitchen and brings him out COLD and broken up and mushy steak fries. he says don’t worry his meal was coming off the bill. I says to him…ALL our meals are coming off the bill!!! I have NEVER been so humilited as I was then. Even my grand daughter was clearly upset and could not eat. she was worried about her daddy getting sick. NO cake was brought to her..we packed up her meal and his tenders and left. we did tip the waitress and assured her this was NOT her fault.WE had to ask the manager about the food safety report in case my son gets sick..he did take his name and phone number. I have NO idea if he even filed a report. NEVER will we go back to this poorly run CB.the manager should be so ashamed of himself. He could have handled this in a much nicer professional way…but he chose to try and make us look as though we were at fault.

This is coming from a former Cracker Barrel retail employee …I wore my four stars with pride and very aware how headquarters would expect customers to be treated. I travel to Fla several times a year and stop eat and shop at least once each day I’m on the road. I’ve have never complained to home office ..although I have spoke with at least 3 managers about the attitude, customer service skills and body language that the retail mgr. in Elizabethtown Ky. has. Don’t take my word for this..send someone to see this first hand. I just left the store after spending over 100 dollars the ladies in the store was doing their job ..very helpful…but..I have been in there twice this week and just stood back and observed her…not one time did she have a smile on her face..offered to help customers..I’m sorry but this young lady needs to be retrained in what is expected when you have the title as a RETAIL MGR. AT CRACKER BARREL.!! But on the bright side you have one of the BEST RESTURANT MANGERS.her name is Jennifer. She is always walking the dining room.talking with the guest and just a delight…a real STAR.. I will tell you this when I was having lunch a couple of wks. ago there was a leak in the front part of the dining room the male mgr walked out ..took a pic..never never spoke to the guest..how’s your meal NOTHING…he was a short gentleman with a limp……I notice these things because again I know how the staff are suppose to treat the guest. The managers in Lakeland Fla are always on the floor and the retail mgr and staff are 10 out of 10..:) and the parking lot is always full..I just fill if you are holding the position as MGR…then when people are shopping they should be able to pick out the MGR… I spend 500 plus a year in retail so I feel it is my obligation to let you know what I see to help Cracker Barrel keep the good name that Lebanon Tn. started yrs. ago..Thank you…..God Bless and Merry Christmas Shelia

My Wife and I stopped to have lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Slidell La Restaurant # 138 on Nov. 6th ’15 Ticket # 4971. 248808 Twanda S. We were on our way back to Hattiesburg Ms, from Oshners Hospital in New Orleans were my wife had a follow up after cancer surgery. We eat at Cracker Barrel regularly when we travel, and normally have good service and quality food, unfortunately this was not the case, this visit at this restaurant, we ordered two sweet teas, which both were extremely weak, it was like drinking sweet slightly colored water, Not Good. My wife ordered CD Catfish fried, half of the fillet was extremely over fried, to the point she was unable to eat it, Not Good. I ordered the Fish Fry, (Cod) Marconi & cheese, Cole Slaw. The Fish was over battered and over fried, after trying to remove the thick crust from the fish, there was very little fish, Not Good, the Mac & cheese, was dried out and bland, Not Good, the Cole Slaw was Very Good. The waitress was some what friendly, after we received our meal, the only time she came back was to give us our ticket, Poor Service. I had to request new silverware as my Knife and fork had dried food on them. overall visit very unpleasant. Sincerely Mark Wing

You provide excellent down home food and friendly service eveywhere I attend. I was in Dickson Tennessee just yesterday, Spartanburg SC last week, and I can’t recall how many other locations I’ve visited from Florida throughout the southeast over the past few months.
My point is that they are consistently excellent in quality and service. There might be a little glitch here or there but that comes with being operated by humans. I don’t think I could ever be critical of Cracker Barrel. I really like what they do…

I am very disappointed in Cracker Barrel. I visited last week mid week for early dinner, around 6:45pm. My fiance and I were seated and had to wait longer than expected for our drinks. Then waited 10 minutes for a tea refill. We finally were waited on by John and we ordered chicken and dumplings dinner. He returned and advised they were out. We ordered differently and ate. The service was not good. But we left a tip, knowing lots of young people are students. **Today, 10/26/15 we returned , again for chicken and dumplings and AGAIN they were out. We were there at 5:30pm!! I cannot believe this occurred twice in a matter of a week. I am from out of town and very disappointed in this location. It is a shame the service is so bad. I tried to send complaint via website and it is not allowing. Location : NW Loop 410 and jonesmaltsberger, San Antonio, TX 78216.

Do you realize that one of your employees in the Madisonville,KY store had scarlet fever and strep throat and was made to come in to work? She had not even been on medication for 24 hours. The retail manager told her that she had it the week before and that the employee would be fine. Really??? Working with the public in a food establishment? FINE with scarlet fever and strep throat? I wonder what the health department would say about this or the labor board? I cannot believe that this would be allowed in this establishment!

Husband and I went to Trevose Catcher Barrel. Worse breakfast ever! Ordered pecan pancakes and sausage. The pancakes were burnt. Tasted like burnt butter and oil. Sausage burnt. Waitress very nice. Brought out a new order of only pancakes 15min later. These were raw. Husband was finished with his meal. Would like to eat properly cooked food at same time ad my husband is eating.

I recently ate at cracker barrel and was mislead and very disappointed by your menu. The menu describes the chicken fried steak as a
(USDA choice steak hand battered and deep fried) when what I received was a terrible processed frozen pattie that was a far cry from a USDA choice steak. False advertisement if I’ve ever seen it!

Sun. July 5, 2015 my husband and I ate at the I-80, North 27th st Cracker Barrel in Lincoln, Ne. We frequent this store and enjoyed your food. However, we placed our order to the waitress and she acted like she didn’t know what we wanted, two egg sandwiches on toast. We ordered coffee and waited 10 min. then saw her conversing with another waitress and helping her clear a table. I asked her if she would bring our coffee. Another long wait and I was getting upset but said nothing to her. The order came out wrong and we were not offered a coffee refill, I asked for the mgr. Paul. He came over and said ” Why are you giving my waitress a bad time, she worked all weekend, did you work all weekend? We tried to explain to him and he dismissed us and said it didn’t matter. Very rude mgr.

Good afternoon,
I am not one to write a bad review, but our experience with your Cracker Barrel in Cypress TX (Mueschke & 290) was so bad that I have to do this.
My daughter (4yrs) and I decided to go to dinner on March 3rd at the Cracker Barrel in Cypress TX. As we were waiting for our order to come, my daughter accidently split her lemonade all over the table and floor. My daughter was horrified and was crying. After several minutes, the waitress finally cleaned the table off but she would not clean up the floor under our table. It was a sticky mess. I asked the hostess twice and our waitress to clean the floor, to no avail. Finally the hostess brought a sign that said floor was slippery, but would not get it cleaned up. It was very embarrassing. So, we sat with the sticky mess under our table as we waited 45 minutes for pancakes and french toast. My daughter was so hungry and embarrassed. The waitress kept telling us our food would be out soon. When we finally received our food and paid for it, we had been there for 1.5 hours. I asked the lady at check out if I could talk with the manager and she said she would go get her, so we waited and shopped in the store. I went back up to ask again and to check out with over $70 worth of merchandise and was told that the manager was too busy cooking in the kitchen to come out to talk to me. I was really mad that I had been kept waiting and this manager could not pull away for 5 minutes. I am so disappointed. We were so excited to have a Cracker Barrel open near our home and had been there several times, but now I will make sure that all my friends, neighbors and colleagues are told how slow the service is and how we were treated.
Your mission to please people has not reached this manager and the staff here in Cypress TX. Too bad.

I loved cracker barrel. Have been taking my family there for thirty years. I would say let’s eat at cracker barrel we can’t go wrong. Until yesterday Dec 27. In Monroe Michigan. My now adult son found hair in his food. They returned very fast witha new order. I ask for a container to take my leftover home. While eating today l found a long blond string of hair. Two in one day. I am done and so is seven others. It’s called hair nets. How many find hair in their food that don’t complain it’s so common. Done.. Goodbye my favorite restaurant.

We eat at Cracker Barrel in Richmond ky every Sunday and sometimes 1 time a week. We ask for the same waitresses every time ! We don’t need menus and they know what we like before we sit down!!! That keeps us coming back!!! Last few years you have been sending managers who are horrible to the employees and if they were doctors they would rate an F for bedside manner!!! WHY???? You have local people who run a great store and people love them. AND I hear a change in some of your music. Cracker Barrel is “Old Country Store”. Old Country people believe in Jesus!!!! Sadly. If changes keep coming we will be forced to do like our favorite waitresses!!!! QUIT!!!!! But unlike them. I will tell everyone I know! Publicly!!!!!

I have twice typed my experience with a manager who both lied more than once, but treated me like an idiot, admitted sending inferior quality food to customers which is to be teplaced only when caught, and put a server in tears over his own mistake.
Unfortunately the message has also twice disappeared, so i summarize here. I will be in touch, but in the meantime, a good number of people will be hearing about our adventures. Oh. his behavior caused me to feel the necessity of going back and getting the hostess to slip the server another $15 in addition to her tip in hope that it would take the edge off the chewing out. It was clear the hostess appreciated the understanding, further confirmation that the problems with the half-full-at-6:45-p.m. restaurant are systemic.

On a recent trip we stopped at your location on exit 427, off I-75, at Lake City, Florida and for the third time waited over 35 minutes for an order of eggs w/sausage and an order of pancakes. When traveling, we don’t wish to lose that much time waiting for a simple breakfast, so we will NEVER go to another Cracker Barrel and we will warn all our friends to reconsider when they are traveling or eating locally. We have a Cracker Barrel in Boynton Beach, but stopped going there long ago.

I would like someone to contact me thru email ASAP please. I tried to email y’all and it said it didn’t go thru. I came to the Brooks, Kentucky location on Sept. 8, 2014 around 6 p.m. I came in with my family of 8. We had 4 kids there with the coloring books but no crayons, the waitress said they get their shipment on Mondays and they r always out of something until Tuesday. The kids weren’t happy at all. 2 of the kids got a drink from up front and I asked for cups to put them in. I finally got em after the 4th time asking. We got our food and one of the mashed potatoes had white gravy on it instead of brown gravy so I told the waitress and she brought back just brown gravy. I think she should of brought back a brand new mashed potato with brown gravy since the other one had white gravy on it.

Cracker barrel is broken and seriously needs to be fixed from the top down.
I live a good 20 minutes from my “local” cracker barrel. I would say out of my last 12 visits, 10 times they were out of meatloaf. Now mind you the manager “Jeff” and myself have gotten to know each other over say the last 10-15 years. Jeff isn’t the problem, the staff (management) needs to be fixed. this past Sunday we went to eat at our Germantown CB, I asked before we were even close to being seated if they had meatloaf, I was told yes, after about a 20 minute wait (rush hour Sunday night 6:30 PM) they had run out of meatloaf while I stood waiting to get seated and they 86’D the meatloaf meaning they weren’t going to make anymore, I told them I could go shop and come back in an hour but was assured they weren’t going to make anymore. I could have called Jeff Monday Morning and gotten a free meal “again” but thought I’d call corporate first, I was sent to some girls voice mail, I explained the issue (politely) left my name and number and never received a call back, I waited a few days and recalled corporate on Wednesday and asked for the CEO’S secretary, again voice mail and asked whom could you forward me to to try and fix the issue of no meatloaf in Germantown, Wi. She also never returned my call.
here’s the big issue if all cust. service is going to do is give me a free meal, it’s still not worth it because even a few times with my free cert. they didn’t have meatloaf.
it’s a fairly long drive with heavy traffic to get a meal and then they don’t have it.
Now, jeff will make sure they at least start one and keep it on hand, but most managers couldn’t give a rat’s butt either way.
I’ll be in Nashville next week and plan to stop by corporate and see someone high up to fix the problem personally. I’ll update you all and let you know how I goes.
I wonder how they stay in Business with the lack of respect I’ve been given from corporate!!!!

Our server Margaret was very sweet. She was very patient with our 85-year-old aunt Mary. Her service was an A, however our food was a D at best.
My rice was cold with my chops sirloin dinner and so was my sisters however my sister chose not to send her brown rice back. Both my sister and my chopped sirloin was medium 10 but we were so hungry that we ate it anyway. My aunt Mary’s steak was overdone and also she did not care for the cuXXXXber salad. There was no visible manager nor did any manager stop by to see how we were doing so we really didn’t have the time to stick around and look for someone because we had a long journey back to Philadelphia. We told our server I’ll be at Mary’s dismay of her dinner and that’s about as far as it got. Oh well, we just thought that we share this information with you three of us had a very subpar experience at your Cracker Barrel in Frackville Pennsylvania yesterday eveni

I would like to thank Debbie (in retail) at the Cracker Barrel in Alpharetta, GA for all her help. I was trying very hard to find a “sold out” item from the retail store. Although Debbie’s store didn’t have it, she searched on line for a store that might. She found it (actually several) at the Canton. GA store. She contacted them for me and had them call me. Thanks to her efforts I am awaiting shipment on 2 of these items. I was very impressed with the effort she put forth and also very pleased with the retail manager from Canton (didn’t get her name) for her help. Actually, every store I called (about 8) were very friendly and pleasant to speak to. Thank you Cracker Barrel!

Just came from the Cracker Barrel in Marion, IL where I ordered the campfire chicken dinner. What a surprise when it arrived at the table so full of fluid. Why didn’t you call it drowned chicken which is what it was. I couldn’t eat it because it was served on a plate the same size as the foil and since there was so much liquid I couldn’t turn the foil down enough to get a good grip on the food. I finally asked for a take home container and pulled the food out of the fluid. I told the manager I would have to eat it at home. Why not before servicing this dish try punching a hole in the bottom of the foil to release the fluids,(I don’t think anyone is interested in drinking it anyway) and then place it on a dish that is large enough so you have room to unfold the foil for eating. Just saying!

I visited store #240 in the evening of June 29th with my son after a long drive across state. We ordered chicken fried chicken and french toast. The french toast came out raw. While waiting for the waitress my son tried my chicken; he liked that much better so when she came we changed his order to that instead. When it arrived it was not chicken! It was steak again waited for waitress who was very nice and apologetic. I told her that we did not want to wait for a 3rd meal for him that he would just eat the sides. I had also ordered a to go irdrr for my husband at home which would be coming out so I didnt want that to get cold waiting. For another meal. Here is where my awful experience really begins. When I received my bill I was charged for the meal that my son never ate! She the waitress said thatshe put a piece of chicken in the bag. I said that I didn’t ask for that I don’t thinkshould have to pay for it especially because of the inconvenience of the whole thing. Any other restaurant would have comped his meal. At this point she brought the Manager over his name is Alfred. Alfred was horrible and abusive from the moment he walked over to the table. He made me empty my to go bag like I was a criminal yelling that I cannot take food out of the restaurant without paying. I was shocked and humiliated in front of a restaurant full of people and my child!! I began to tell him my story maybe he didn’t realize or know what led up to this. Nope!! He did not care!! He took piece of chicken (that I didn’t ask for) and said he would take it off bill. I sat there waiting for him to bring the bill back which he didn’t I had to track him down! He then said that only the waitresses can do that!! WHAT?! I was so horrified that this man was so nasty that I questioned his behavior and asked why he never even appologized for the experience. He stood their waving me off and followed me out to register like I am a criminal again. Again shocked trying to make sense of this abusive behavior from one of your managers. I asked him again what was the matter with him. He then physically grabbed my hand a ripped the bill from it slammed it on the counter and told cashier “get her out of here now”! I was so upset my heart is racing now I I write this and its been a few weeks I wished I had gotten the policeman out front to file an assault charge against this man. But I did not want to upset my son further. I got home andjust cried.
I decided then that I was not going to let this go. I went back the next day hoping there was a general manager there. I walked in and was shaking and the cashier that was there the previous night immediately asked if I was ok after last night. She remembered me right away! I said no I am not that’s why I am here. She called for manager and I told him my story and I am sorry I don’t remember his name. He of course was horrified at my treatment and invited me and my son to lunch on him which we did.
I still felt that I could not let this go because I will never feel safe at that restaurant knowing that this awful human being is still there. I will never be able to step into ANY Cracker Barrel again without thinking about that horrible night. I called the corporate office and told her my story and again this woman was shocked and horrified at what went on there.
It has been almost 2. Weeks and I have yet received any sort of an apology from Cracker Barrel. Like I said before I cant in my right mind let this go. Thats why I am writing this.
I frequently went to Cracker Barrel. I used to love it and this one is very close. I woukd have to travel at least 10 miles to get to the next closest; but frankly I may have to give up and go elsewhere from now on since this issue was never dealt with properly from your office.
Thank you for your time. I hope that its read but I have my doubts.

I want you to know that my family and I eat at your restaurants quite often. Tonight, my daughters and I had yogurt parfaits. Mine was fine, Sarah’s was fine, Lydia’s was NOT fine. She had glass pieces in it. I want you to know that she is 7 years old. The location where we ate tonight was at your Pooler, GA location. The manager was kind and made a report. He took care of the bill. However, I am still horrified and most importantly extremely worried. I talked to my pediatric nurse that was on call. She informed me that the small glass pieces would not even show up in an X-ray. However, I will be making sure that her Pediatrician checks Lydia out and look further into her care. I, as a parent, want you to know that the glass mason jar, that you have serving our kids and other customers the yogurt parfait in, is a bad idea and sorely an aweful one. Because it is dangerous. My baby is only 7 years old and I am terrified of what the future may hold for her due to her ingestion of your yogurt parfait that had pieces of glass in it. I am outraged and very upset at the carelessness of your kitchen staff and extremely worried for my precious 7 year old baby. Please get rid of your glass mason jars and please make sure that you send out a memo warning your kitchen staff to take care of what they serve.

Beaumont, Texas #451 First off I want to say. I love Cracker Barrel (or so I use to). But in the past 6 months of my family and I dining here, there has been problems at each visit! We usually eat at Cracker Barrel 4+ times per month. Sometimes twice in one week. Not sure if it’s new management or what, but gosh this place is surely getting worse. They ran out of silverware the last 2 times we came. They never have a menu item called Oven Fried Chicken. It’s my husbands favorite and lately they have been out as soon as lunch begins. Last time our server told us they simply didn’t make it one day. What!? If it’s on the menu how could they just not make it? Most of the time they are out of biscuits and cornbread. One time they ran out of grits for 25 minutes! They run out of meatloaf faithfully. This list goes on but I’m sure you get the picture. The servers are usually very nice and very attentive but I can tell it bothers them as much as it bothers me that they cant serve us things they simply don’t have. The food use to come out in under 20 minutes and would be hot. Lately it’s taking at least 25-30 minutes and is lukewarm. I guess the only positive to this place are the nice servers and hostesses and the clean environment. I think we will definitely be taking a break from CB. I hope this message gets to the right people and makes some changes. I think Cheddders is our new food spot.

I work at store 200. We have some serious issues in this store. Our GM, Ron, has certain people that he tends to favor. They get the best sections hardly ever have to roll silverware, because they go up to him and say sign this. Two of the employees ate servers.. Pam and Stephanie are constantly touching the GM which is very improfessonal. Other employes have contacted corporate with this matter and nothing is done about it. Ron was seen grabbing Stephanie’s butt, Pam comes in early when she knows he opens and spends thirty minutes before her shift in the office with Ron. Pam gets whatever station she wants if she doesn’t she will pitch a fit. These managers do not know how to to rotate sections among servers! Some people with end up getting three two tops for several days in a row when Pam and Stephanie always get five tables of four tops or six tops. This is cutting into our money when you can’t rotate! If corportar doesn’t fix this situation then maybe I should just contact my lawyer!
Unknown says
Not to mention she will sit down and eat lunch with him after her shift. Her friend Andrea is the host so she gets way more tables than any other server. Pam walks in the door and will get a party of 9 which she takes by herself, never gets written up for it while other server do, and another table when other servers who have been on the floor longer than her haven’t even had two tables. Maybe someone should look at the video recordings to see what is truly going on in store 200

My husband an I do not eat out often so when we do I expect a good meal. We chose CB in Terre Haute IN. My meal was good but my husbands was a joke and I have a picture to prove it. The sides were better than the main course which is sad. Our waiter never asked or gave us a refill on drinks until we asked while he was handing us the bill, the drink cost $ 2.19 so I thought that included refills, had we not asked we would of not been offered, my husbands plate had already been taken by a woman that appeared to be other than a waitress and was wearing a headphone set, she didn’t offer either when she took the plate. I was still eating and only halfway done, so my husband sat with an empty glass. When the waiter brought our meal and asked how everything looked, I told him ” not good”, he asked why and I said ” are you kidding me with that piece of ham”? He said all of our ham looks like that, and I asked with a bone ? He said “yes, do you need the manager”? My husband said no because he felt it would be embarrassing to have a manager at your table and explain how disappointed your food looks to you in a crowded room elbow to elbow on a Friday night. My statement to that is, if you serve good food that isn’t skimpy you wouldn’t have to complain. Anyway, you have lost a customer. I don’t care if I get a response because I will never eat there again. Poor service and poor food!

I regularly Oder 2 quarts of vegetable soup at the CB location near Regency Square Mall in Jacksonville Fl. One of the mgrs told me when I first began ordering the larger qty to call a few hours ahead of time and that would ensure that I would not have a long wait. I have been doing this and it usually works; however this past Mon. June 22 I ordered at 1:20p to pick up at 4p. I always explain when I order ahead of time why I am doing so. On Monday, I did not get my order till 4:45p. To be fair, the mgr on duty did give me a dozen biscuits, but even so, I have been doing this for months now. This location needs some attention. I have had other issues but never reported them before. I would hate to see this store go out of business!

To Whom it may concern,
My son is staying in Richmond KY at the Relax in next to the Cracker Barrel, which by the way I once worked there some years ago. I am writing in re-guards to the behavior of your employees including your manager “MIKE”
My son has diabetic seizures and needs to eat to control his blood sugar. I am his mother and I live in NC, my son is stuck there in KY with no money, so I called Cracker Barrel Richmond KY to order and pay for his food over the phone. They refused to take my order because I wasn’t there in Person. This was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. I had to call Pizza Hut to get food for him, and they delivered to him.
I am very disapointed in Cracker Barrel which was one of our favorite places to eat, but no longer. Me, my family or any of our friends will ever walk through your doors again.
Thank you for nothing, Carla Jones

We have gone to Cracker barrel before and have had a bad experience ,we decided to give them a second chance. What a joke ! I ordered the chicken fried steak special ,my meal was ok ,but my wife ordered the lunch special which was meat loaf ,what a joke her plate was! A small pile of mashed potatoes and a sliver so small of meat loaf a new born baby would still be hungry after eating it! We called the waitress over and asked her if we ordered off the child’s plate. She took the plate rudely and several minutes later the manager brought my wife a new plate which looked exactly like the first! He came and slapped her new plate down, and didn’t say a word! It was just a tiny piece of meat with a small pile of mashed potatoes nothing else!! My wife was just astounded! After waiting for almost 30 minutes to be seated and being pushed back twice by the incompetent staff that was seating people it was just a joke on top of a joke!, I was so disappointed they served her that!! The chicken fried steak was a frozen patty and the mashed potatoes a tasteless mess! We didn’t even get butter for our bread and my wife had to get up and get ketchup from another table! We did not get refills on our drinks either–we did however leave a five dollar tip as we know the waitress was not well trained!
NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY!!! They don’t care about you the customer they don’t care about anything but herding you in and out as fast as possible. We eat out a lot as we have very busy schedules and very little time to cook and we will take our money to a restaurant that actually cares if we enjoyed our meal and that cares if we spend our hard earned money with them! just a bad time from start to finish! 2 thumbs down!

2014 me and 4 couples had a very bad exsperience at Craker Barrel on the west side of Cleveland Ohio our food was late! And cold and it took the manager forever to come over to talk to us. Not good for one couple being that it was there first time here. The manager was very unprofessional!!!!!

I heard about Cracker Barrel’s policy of making the server pay for customers who leave without paying and upon checking on it I was told that it was not Cracker Barrel’s policy to make a server pay for the check. A friend of mine had to pay about $50 for a ‘dine and dash.’ So, is all of this true? I tend to believe what has been said on The XXXXXXy Waiter.com (https://theXXXXXXywaiter.com/2013/11/waitress-fired-for-dine-and-dash-hell-no.html) over what I was told by Cracker Barrel. I hope I was not wrong for checking on this. I do not want anyone who works that hard serving to be hurt. It is so wrong of Cracker Barrel to do this sort of thing.

I am writing to express my disappointment that your company has decided to place profits over racism, discrimination and bigotry. I have been a customer for many years. I can no longer support your business since you think African Americans and homosexuals are not deserving to be treated with dignity and respect.
The next time you read about a young person committing suicide because he was being bullied because he was different your business practices will be partly to blame.

Terry, you have things reversed. It is the radical elements of the communities whom you describe who have deliberately targeted Cracker Barrel because of its family values stance, not because CB has any history of targeting anybody. Cracker Barrel hasn’t picked those fights, the radicals have via instituting phony lawsuits for entitlement minded black people, as well as by deliberately sending XXXXXXXX waiters to go get jobs at Cracker Barrel outlets. CB isn’t taking anymore of this junk and is now rightfully fighting back.

Ok I know everyone has a opinion first amendment everyone keeps saying but seriously why is everyone going crazy for decision a company makes about their business. Is it seriously hurting your pockets? CRACKER BARREL AND I REPEAT CRAKER BARREL IS A RESTAURANT NOT CONGRESS!! So stop throwing politics with food.. Makes no sense for grown people to act like children. Your not showing an example to our future because .. Oh No Shall I Say it?!? CRAKER BARREL allows kids too. Just shut up go there enjoy the service, peg game, the gift shop and leave happy and hungry and to be honest most of you cursing on here prolly don’t even tip all that well.. Guess what servers only make between $2.13-3.70 an hour to wait on you ok. So maybe tipping your server 18%to25% of your check depending on their service wouldn’t hurt if you ain’t got money to tip you sure don’t have money to eat.. And that $2 Tuesday don’t cut it either.. We have bills to pay as well and families to support and since. Everyone is about family maybe you should be considerate and don’t come in with an attitude cause last time anyone check they weren’t the ones who messed your day up ok. SOOOOOOOO LET CRACKER BARREL RUN THEIR BUSINESS… And just go out and enjoy some time with your family by the cozy fire and SHUT UP!

Which I find it disgusting and inappropriate to do anything to anyone’s good and I’m not condoning it but now and days you never know people will surprise you.. I LOVE MY HISPANIC WORKERS, CAUCASIAN WORKERS, AFRICAN AMERICAN WORKERS, CHINESE WORKERS, INDIAN WORKERS AND EVEN MY HOMOSEXUAL WORKERS. I think you have secrets within yourself and maybe you should tell your wife ,gay men pass diseases when they lie and hide how they really feel, and you sir are one of those hiding. just come to light with it. you’ll feel so much better. but as for you coming back to any cracker barrel I hope you get the most flamboyant server or most bull dike waitress and they cough on your food and pass the gay to your whole family !!

@Wow,
Obviously you are a server. Yes everyone has the 1st amendment right. Let’s see are you disabled? Probably not. Ever try using a wheelchair in Craker Barrell where there is absolutely no room to maneuver a wheen chair in the store. Ever have a customer w no bladder who is hooked up to tubes and were places closest to the kitchen so other customers wouldn’t see tubes w urine in them. Ever take a fall at CB because there were no signs of the danger of sitting on huge rocks that are part of the landscape. Ever have QA call you up while reuperating at home on medications from injuriies that made me disabled in the 1st place and have them lie to you because they think they an get away w it. Tell me why would HQ call me one day after sustaining brutal injuries so they can make me not want to sue them. Just the way you spoke about customers tell the whole lot of us that maybe if you had education you wouldn’t be a waitress? Give it some though because after your vile comment I would encourage others not to eat at your place of emloyment. You’ve got a crappy attitude and w your mouth runnrth over I’d say you should be a custodian and have no customer interation instead of hiding behind a keyboard. You disgusting piece of trash. Go get an education so you don’t sound like such a dufus. Look up any words you have no knowledge about cause you sound like an angry dufus!

It is no surprise that Cracker Barrel originally caved into the militant homosexual community’s stand on Phil Robertson and Duck Dynasty by removing all Duck Dynasty products from its shelves, they have a long history of getting up and running away when the special interests start shouting out against them. I do, however, now applaud their decision to no longer cow tow and to fight back.
The Cracker Barrel restaurant chain has long been a target of radical activist groups. These log cabin eateries have long had a family-friendly policy and have had a mission statement about trying to encourage wholesome values in its patrons via displaying those values through its staff. These values have constantly been attacked by the homosexual crowd via getting many XXXXXXXX waiters to find work at Cracker Barrel outlets and then deliberately getting those waiters to act openly effeminate in front of their customers, who are usually families with children. This militant behavior has, of course, continually been complained about by those customers. When Cracker Barrel has tried to take issue with or fire those waiters then what hits the news is stories about this chain’s unfair discrimination against the openly perverse, not the right of families not to expose their children to such perversity.
Cracker Barrel has also been targeted by entitlement minority groups, those who feel free to go in and order a ton of food, eat up and then walk out without paying. The media, as usual, sides against the restaurant chain, not those who feel entitle to free meals.
Good for you this time around, Cracker Barrel. FIGHT BACK!

For quite a while, I have intended to email you in regard to the shrinking size of your portions, as well as the on-going problem of serving your food hot. Within the last week I have eaten in another Crackerbarrel, ordering your pot roast for the first time. I was appalled at the portion of pot roast I received. After speaking to the manager, and the response “it is weighed”, I was disgusted. You are ripping your customers off. Your meatloaf, my favorite, has shrunk in it’s portion, as well, and often I am served a piece that has obviously sat for hours. You have to clean up your act and think of your customers. I not only eat at your establishments, but shop in them as well. I am getting disgusted.
Also, it was completely idiotic to remove any and all Duck Dynasty-related items as quickly as you did. You offended approximately 90% of your customers. Think before acting so irrationally.

You need to take a vote on how you handled the Duck Dynasty issue. I think if you did you would find your first reaction to pull the merch was the correct response. People cannot just go around saying what they want and not have consiquences. What was said was offensive to many and therefore should not go without consiquence. People can have opinions but sometimes need to bite their tounges. The first amendment is not there to allow people to say anything they want and if we let this slide where does the line get drawn…..

I was appalled and disgusted that Cracker Barrel management did not stand with Phil Robertson. The first amendment is law. He has that right. Apparently your idealogy is at variance with your many customers and you failed to show moral courage. I am ashamed of and disappointed with the management of Cracker Barrel.
Tommy says
I am deeply, deeply disappointed in your company’s decision to reverse it’s position on supporting ‘Duck Dynasty’ with the sale of their merchandise. By giving in to the loud and one sided complaints of what is frankly a mob mentality , you and your company have once again embraced an image that I had thought you were trying hard the last few years to rehabilitate.
In 2004 you settled an $8.7 million dollar discrimination lawsuit. That settlement found that black customers at many of the country store-themed restaurants were seated in areas segregated from white patrons, frequently received inferior service and often were made to wait longer for tables. Blacks who complained about poor service also were treated less favorably than whites, the settlement said.
Phil Robertson made the following comments in the issue of GQ that started this controversy;
“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field…. They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”
It does not require a college level education to see the absolute ridiculousness of this statement. Anyone with even a modest understanding of civil rights would find his statement dispicable.
To add insult to injury though, your company released a statement that was cowardly and purely profit driven. You stated that by removing the merchandise your intent was to avoid offending, but that’s just what you had done. You then went on to apologize for offending your customers.
I see nothing in that letter that apologizes or explains to me your actions. Some of your patrons are gay people and black people, and with your reversal you have stated unequivocally your position and opinion of those people. My partner and I eat at your restaurant often, and even purchased a gift card this Christmas.
One should stand by their convictions even when it is not convenient. That is certainly what Mr. Robertson is doing. That is certainly what A & E is (more or less) doing. In the face of death threats and suspicious packages they have so far stood by their original decision, one that they were compelled to take out of respect for her numerous LGBT employees.
The term family values has long been a code for intolerance and hatred. Anyone that uses that term usually has an entirely different agenda. Conservatives keep saying that Mr. Robertson is being “attacked” for his Christian beliefs. Evidence to the contrary can be found in this quote from a 2010 speech;
“They (homosexuals) committed indecent acts with one another,” said Robertson, clad in his usual camouflage, in the video posted on the church’s YouTube page, which has drawn fresh attention in the wake of Robertson’s suspension from one of the most-watched shows on cable television.
“And they received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion,” he added. “They’re full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant God haters. They are heartless. They are faithless. They are senseless. They are ruthless. They invent ways of doing evil.”
These are ugly, hateful statements.
Make no mistake, by putting their merchandise back on the shelf, you are catering to racists and bigots. The people that are buying up arm loads of ‘Duck Dynasty’ merchandise at Walmart hate gay people, plain and simple. In the end, whether they admit it or not, anyone who claims they support this man because they are Christians are not being truthful. Mr. Robertson’s right to free speech is not being attacked. He is free to say anything he wants, regardless of it’s inaccuracy or hateful nature. Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences from what you say.
Your company’s reversal will carry consequences as well. Cracker Barrel will land on the wrong side of history when all is said and done. I am realistic. I know that the customers you will lose from this and the economic impact will be easily absorbed.
What will happen now is that Cracker Barrel will take it’s rightful place beside chick-fil-a. You will be lauded by the likes of Glen Beck and Sarah Palin as a “Patriot and TRUE American”. You will once and for all cement your restaurant’s reputation as bigoted and racist. You will leave no doubt as to where you wish to fall in the history of the ongoing fight for all people, regardless of their race or sexual orientation , to be looked at as equal and treated with respect and compassion.
Joe South Carolina says
Cracker Barrel will be on the wrong side of history supporting the Duck Dynasty Merchandise. Regardless of your Religious beliefs, 15 states have adopted gay marriage. Recent polls – 53% of the United States support this movement. Think of your moral Compass. Would you sell Confederate Flags made my the KKK? I hope not. Until you change your moral compass, My friends, and family will no longer dine at your restaurants.

I am writing to express my disgust with your decision to restock your shelves with Duck Dynasty merchandise. My wife and I have been long term customers of the Cracker Barrel, making a point of always stopping at your establishments as we travel. On vacations, business trips and even locally we have always made a point to eat at your restaurants, take our children there and even shop in your gift areas. We have been customers for over 30 years and it makes us sad that this relationship will now have to end because of your support of a racist, bigoted and ignorant person and his statements.
My wife and I are Christians and have always raised our children in the faith and to respect the dignity of all humans. We found the comments of the Duck Dynasty star as revolting and insulting and fully supported your decision to pull their merchandise from your selves. The fact that you now have changed your mind because of the response of some of your customers and will support this ignorant and bigoted man has forced us to make the decision that the Starling family will no longer be customers of any Cracker Barrels and we will not eat in or support in any way your establishments from this time forward.
We are sorry to have to make this decision but our faith and our core values do not allow us to support prejudice and bigots and or these businesses that support such behavior or attitudes. We will miss your stores on our travels and thank you for the many good experiences we have had in the past.
Sincerely,
Keith C. Starling

Thank you for reversing your decision about pulling Duck Dynasty merchandise. My husband and I love Cracker Barrel and were actually planning a visit next week when we read your original decision. We immediately changed our plans and promised each other that we would never set foot inside your stores again. And, now I read that you have come to your senses and you did the right thing. Everyone in America deserves the right to express their beliefs and opinions without getting a backlash from groups that don’t agree with them. This is America…we can agree to disagree. I don’t expect everyone to agree with everything I believe, but I do expect us all to respect each others different views. When you try to take away a person’s right to speak up about something they believe in just because it may go against what you think…then that is the day America dies. Free speech and freedom of religion is what our founding fathers fought for…and we have to be diligent and focused to guard those rights. Now, my husband and I can go to a Cracker Barrel and enjoy a great meal. Thank you for doing the right thing. God Bless Cracker Barrel and God Bless America.

Thank you for reversing your ill-advised decision to remove Duck Dynasty’s merchandise from your store. Phil did nothing wrong by exercising his freedom of speech, but by saying you don’t want “his kind” in your store you showed your true colors of intolerance and prejudice. Sad! And by disassociating yourself from any group of people simply because of what they believe, you are definitely showing bad business sense to say the least.

We have been patronizing your restaurants for years in our travels. No longer. If your corporate backbone is so weak and politically correct that you immediately cave in to a fringe organization like GLADD instead of supporting any person who speaks the honest truth, then you no longer have our business ever again. Even your recanting “waffles” won’t bring us back.

To Cracker Barrel Corporates:
Thank you for reversing your decision to stop carrying Duck Dynasty products. It was a huge mistake to remove them in the first place. My family frequents your restaurants and country stores often while driving around the country. Your food is great and we always find something fun and interesting in your stores and we always leave with something from there. I must tell you, however, that I am extremely disappointed in your initial decision to not support the Duck Dynasty family. Don’t they have a right to free speech? Is their Christian belief so peculiar, so unusual? I think not. Most of us out here in America believe the same Biblical truths. I find it hard to even think about entering your establishments in the future now that I know what you really think. I’m glad you changed your mind even if it was only because you received such great pressure from your loyal patrons and your fear of losing business. Hopefully, I will return in the future but not for a while.
Donna Averbeck-Dace says
Thank you for deciding to rethink the pulling of Duck Dynasty articles. Religious freedom…when will enough be enough in the cultural left’s attempt to purge those who think differently?

As an avid visitor to your Cracker Barrel stores throughout the south, especially in parts of Texas, I regretfully inform the Cracker Barrel chain that I will no longer be supporting the company.
The choice for Corporate in Lebanon, TN, to get involved in the Duck Dynasty matter, that they should of steered cleared from, has effect not just me but has put my great uncle in a position who frequents Cracker Barrel stores as well and purchases gift cards for his employees of his company, to not support the Cracker Barrel stores any longer.
Y’all made a great impression for our family and friends over the years and we thank y’all for that.

Today, Sunday December 22nd. 2013, I was about to sit down and write a note to express my thoughts about Cracker Barrel and the removing of some of Duck Dynasty items fror sale in their restaurants. However this morning’s news reported that Cracker Barrel reversed their decission and are now they are placing back the DD items back for sale again. I was pleased to hear that. I am not a fan of the Duck Dynasty Show on A&E. It is not a program I enjoy. Neither is my wife. Now, my wife and I also reversed our decission and we will again go have dinner or lunch again at Cracker Barrel. You see, there are freedoms in this country for a person to express his opinion or beleifs and no one should punish him fot that. There are also freedoms for others to like or dislike the other person’s opinion. Both should be respectful and tollerant of each other. Years ago, the Gay community were demanding for tollerance. Nowadays, that same community seem to have no tollerance of those who do not wish to accept their lifestyle, and they also do their mighty best to destroy those who do so. Congratulations for the reverse and sane decision. Thank you.

My husband and I eat at Crackerbarrel wherever available when traveling. We type it in our GPS near mealtime so we can plan our route accordingly. We aren’t followers of Duck Dynasty, but we are Christians. You have the right to deny the authority of God’s Word. And we have the right to boycott Crackerbarrel. We will no longer financially support your franchise.

It saddens me that an American restaurant like Cracker Barrel would take sides against American rights of freedom of religion and freedom of speech. I used to like to go there to eat but will not visit again if they drop sponsorship of a program because of a good man exercising his rights. No hate speech was there only the concern for souls which if they don’t believe in it why do they care. In this country now everyone seems to have these rights now except for Christians. That is the beginning of the end of all rights, next it may be you that is maligned and persecuted for your beliefs.
Jeanice Walters says
This wasn’t your fight but you decided to make it your fight, now you have to live with the consequences. You have now re-thought your decision to err on the politically correct side of caution and you have decided to leave the DD items that might be offensive to some people in your store. You have now admitted you made a mistake but as far as I am concerned, it’s too late. You need to thoroughly think through a corporate decision and how it will impact your company and its employees but someone failed to do that. Merry Christmas Cracker Barrel employees….I truly feel sorry for your innocent employees. Now, all you are doing is trying to ride the fence and make everyone happy. If you are going to enter a politically correct fray you need to decide which side of the fence you are going to stand on and stay there because now you have successfully alienated both sides of this controversy. I hope your pocketbook can handle it. As for me, I will drive on by Cracker Barrel and eat at Chick-fil-A….

My wife loves cracker barrel or did until you became gutless and jumped on the politically correct band wagon. We will no longer darken your doors. My belief is America is made up of 75% Christians which is a rather large customer pool. Gays make up possibly 7% which is a small customer pool. Are you seeing where I’m going? Yes you dumped on a Christian valued wholesome show “Duck Dynasty”. Phil may be a little rough around the edges and not speak eloquently, but he speak the truth! Hopefully the 75% Christian based people you feed will boycott your business, “hopefully you can make a profit for your politically correct employees and investors with the 7% gay customer pool”!!! I like Phil have no Ill will towards people who are different even though I disagree with their choices. Good luck with your business being politically correct and dumping on Christians!

In reading through the items in this thread regarding Cracker Barrel’s decision to pull certain Duck Dynasty items from their store, we are obviously in the majority. As others have stated our family loves eating at Cracker Barrel and have for many years. We will no longer go to Cracker Barrel for the same reason we no longer shop at J C Penney’s. . Biblical family values are being attacked in every area of the country. These values are a large part of what has made this country a solid and powerful nation. It is not rocket science to see that the decline of our nation trends with the decline of these strong family values. Sorry Cracker Barrel, we just cannot perpetuate or have a part in this by supporting your company. Not only did we eat at our restaurant when we chose to during the year, but we planned family gatherings there for special occasions and holidays. Our family is in agreement that this will no longer happen as long as Cracker Barrel maintains this current status regarding opposition to beliefs such as Phil Robertson’s.

On December 27, my family and I will be leaving MD for our semi annual trip from Southern MD to Macon, Mississippi. This trip routinely requires stops along I-85 at your stores such as the Ashland VA, Durham NC, and other numerous locations along the 900 mile trek. Your decision to get involved in a matter of strong public opinion is puzzling and makes no sense from a corporate perspective. This has done nothing but tarnish your brand and cause my family to seek an alternative place to stop. Have you ever heard of the Bob Evans chain? At this point we have to place the Waffle House ahead of your franchise.
While being self employed has its advantages, I would personally consider coming to work for your company at the Corporate level to straighten this mess out. Even though I have a mere degree in Accounting without multiple layers of online Master’s degrees, I feel I can easily add a ton of competence to your Corporation. Certainly at the moment, your leadership team is devoid of any common sense.
Email me and I will send resume and we can talk dollars over the phone or in person. I am easy to find, look up your Lexington Park, MD store, I am about 20 miles from there, but you won’t find me at that store until this is resolved.

For more than 25 years CB has provided my family and I reliable service and good meals at a fair price. I’m confident that I have visited every store between Louisville Ky and Fort Myers Fl over the years. Ironically, my daughter boycotted your stores in the 90s because of what she thought were unfair hiring practices!
Based on your latest decision to “ban DD products” I choose to reciprocate. I will miss the fire place and the carrot cake!! You’ve exercised your rights, I’ve exercised mine! God bless America.
PS Im offended by your offering of UT products for sale in your Tennessee stores. I’m a UK fan! Prior to today I never let it bother me. Perhaps you should consider the next logical step. Stop serving anyone wearing a DD shirts that comes in your store. You never know who they might be offending! Just pass out brown CB T shirts on the front porch and everyone will at least look the same.

Why is it companies think they need to be COWARDS and try to please everyone? They certainly have offended me by their cowardly attitude toward “Duck Dynasty” items they were making money off of but now think they need to stop selling them. I’m sick and tired of these companies being cowards and not taking a stand to “just let the customers decide if they want to buy them or not… I bet they would really sell like hot cakes now just to show their support to this family. Why is it Christians cannot speak out but everyone else can? Cracker Barrel will not see one penny more from me because of their stupid decision. This country was FOUNDED on Christianity… Cracker Barrel needs to take a lesson from Chic-fil-a and how Christians supported them for their stand and they MADE money instead of losing it. In terms of patronage, I would guess Cracker Barrel, along with Chick-fil-A, to be one of the consummate Christian restaurant chains…and you’re siding with an anti-Christian faction because they made some noise about a TV icon who expressed his beliefs to a magazine? I don’t eat at your restaurant so it won’t make a difference to me, but this is a jackass move on your part.

Your decision to pull Duck Dynasty items from your gift shop, is your God given right as an American business owner. As we have seen over the past few days, exercising these rights has consequences. I’m a strong advocate for civil rights and believe everyone has the God given right, to their own personal beliefs. We get No-where, by taking away the rights of one person, to gain the rights of another. 3.8% of Americans have claimed to be in a same-sex relationship, while 78% claim they follow the teachings in the Bible. I want nothing to do, with a company that believes gay rights, trump my religious rights. I have informed our bible study of 20+ individuals, that we will be finding a new location to eat breakfast at each week. After speaking to other’s after church, I’ve also learned that they will be boycotting Cracker Barrel, as well. Thank you for showing us your true colors! Americans work too hard for their money, to waste it on a company, that’s against Christianity!!

Just cant believe what I just heard and confirmed for myself.Duck Dynasty is pulled from the shelves of a resturant that had to settle a racial suit a few years back for being so called racist.I supported you then because i never witnessed through years of coming in your resturants any wrongdoing.I have been coming to your resturants for almost forty years when I was dating my wife.(hwy 109 @ I-40) Lebanon,Tn.In my opinion you have made a decision that is sure to hurt your company and stockholders.I cannot speak for others but I have made a dicision to not step in any of your resturants until you can figure out how to explain how a person can be treated the way your company has treated Phil for answering a question that was ask to him.Do we not have FREEDOM in this country any more?I was going to buy several gift cards for my employees of a small business but i am glad to hear this bad news before doing so.Stand up for Religion and our Country like you should or just hang up some communist flag and show your true colors.Thought I would never see a day like this.If this is your final decision I must say i will miss you but several other places will enjoy my business.

We really enjoy eating at Cracker Barrel and shopping in your store. The food is so good, and the unique items you carry in your store bring us to Cracker Barrel regularly. I was so disapppointted to hear that the corporate office decided to remove certain items by Duck Dynasty. I don’t watch Duck Dynasty, but I have seen interviews by them and I highly respect their moral values and their Christian testimony. I feel just like A&E, Cracker Barrell has made the wrong decision, one they will most likely regret. By siding with GLAD, for fear of offending them, they have offended thousands of Christians who frequent their restaurant and shop at their store. Cracker Barrel has taken their stand to side with the gay community (which is in the minority) against the majority with Christian family values. I thought Cracker Barrel was a family oriented corporation, I guess I was wrong. I was going to purchase some gift cards and items for Christmas, but I have decided to do my shopping elsewhere. It’s too bad that now days you cannot express your faith in God, without reprecutions from those who evidently do not believe in the freedom of religion. This is America not China! Those who herald tolerance for the gay community are quite hypocritical. They are showing their intolerance for those who do not believe the way they do. I hope you will reconsider your decision.

We used to love eating at Cracker barrel when traveling. How ever since you have decided to be an anti Christian business we will no longer be eating there.

I worked at a local utility for years. My coworkers and I ate at the Cracker Barrel a lot. In light of what you are doing to Phil Robertson and jumping on the AE bandwagon. We are boycotting you and finding somewhere else to go eat breakfast.
We don’t want to give you any business when a man who lives by the bible can’t even have freedom of speech in America. You should be ashamed! To the Robertsons, or any of the other patriotic Americans behind Phil. I salute you. Shane

Dear CB,
As a Tennesseean who lives somewhat close to your headquarters, I always looked for your restaurants when on the road. However, due to your disgusting actions concerning Phil Robertson and family, I will no longer support your brand. I will also be trying my best to keep others from supporting you either. Whenever you decide to support the majority (Christian folks) and not the minority then I will return to spending my hard earned money in your store!
Ann Ritter says
Phil Robertson is a righteous man who speaks the truth. Since you would rather kiss up to a tiny amount of loudmouths rather than the 99% of Americans who know Mr. Robertson is right, I will never go to Cracker Barrel again. You disgust me.

Re: Your decision on Duck Dynasty merchandising- someone has made a really stupid decision- involving your business in politics. You have managed to offend a significant part of your customer base. Goodbye.

Due to your discrimination against Christians exemplified by your actions against Mr. Robertson, I must discontinue my patronage of your establishments, despite my fondness for your products. He made no threats, there was no language of hate, etc. and so forth. A public apology is necessary by Cracker Barrel. btw, your “contact us” form has not worked in the last couple days.
L. Sanford says
You don’t support duck dynasty and free speech. Then we as a community don’t support you. We will pass this info off to everyone to boycott cracker barrel for their unfair treatment of free Speech and cowarding to the minority voices of the new intolerance.. which is only OK to be intolerant and mistreated those with Christian values. Can say or do anything you like about Christian But don’t go against liberal media.. way to be pathetic.
Deborah says
Because you don’t want those “kinds” in your restaurants, that includes me and all my Christian friends and family. We will boycott your business since we aren’t welcomed.
The first amendment allows freedom of speech whether people allow it or not. I don’t get into the gay communities business but GLADD wants into ours. They accuse Christians of hateful words when they are spewing hate. The Word of God is the truth like it or not.
SO enjoy your Merry Christmas without me and my family and many others who will boycott Cracker Barrel. Facebook is a great tool to get the word out. I must say, I thought Cracker Barrel didn’t discriminate against Christian families. Kind of thought your chain was Christian but guess I was incorrect.

I heard on the news that you are dropping the Duck Dynasty products from your stores and you have every right to do that and I have every right to never spend another dime in one of your places of business. Phil Robertson was just commenting on his belief and his faith and exercising his right of free speech. He was also paraphrasing the Bible. My wife and I love your food and service and a lot of the christmas gifts my is giving this year came from your stores. I can not continue to support a company that does not respect family values and our religious beliefs. There is no need for you to respond to this comment as your action speaks a lot louder than any words. Btw we don’t even watch Duck Dynasty. Ihop, here we come.
Jim Newby says
Dear Sir,
I love eating at Cracker Barrel, however; after hearing that you
Intend pulling Duck Dynasty items from your shelves to keep from offending a few. We’ll I can tell you this, you will be offending many, many more with the action you are taking.

I also just saw the “RUMOR” that you have pulled your support for the Ducks boys and if this is true I can assure you that I and my rather large extended family will “Never” step foot in one of your stores again. I have raised my kids and now their kids on your restaurants food when traveling and now that you have them local we go every week.
Inisde your stores you play Christmas music and try rather well to keep that down home feeling.
I was taking the crew to the Roseville Michigan restaurant for breakfast tomorrow, Sunday till I heard this.
If your company bows to the liberal pressure of a small group you will lose a larger , many times larger group from your cash registers.
This is still America and if the only way we casn show our shock in your actions is to hurt your bottom line then so be it.
You should balance that decision carefully and stand for what is right. Not only will it show your company as it has for a quality idea and quality food place.
If not then my $100 a week breakfast and toys for the grandkids from your stores will go to someplace I trust.,
I would rather have a good business with intergrity and garbage food than one that flys withh the political wind.

As a Canadian, I’m astonished at the incredible erosion of liberties happening to our American neighbours. So you disagree with Phil? Then disagree and move on. Even ultra-left wing columnist Camille Paglia, a gay herself, cannot believe the reaction of the “left” in America to this Duck Dynasty issue, and her response is worth quoting everywhere:
“I think that this intolerance by gay activists toward the full spectrum of human beliefs is a sign of immaturity, juvenility. This is not the mark of a true intellectual life. This is why there is no cultural life now in the U.S. Why nothing is of interest coming from the major media in terms of cultural criticism. Why the graduates of the Ivy League with their A, A, A+ grades are complete cultural illiterates, etc. is because they are not being educated in any way to give respect to opposing view points.” —Camille Paglia, Laura Ingraham Show, Dec. 19th 2013

I heard…I hope incorrectly…that Cracker Barrel has chosen to take Phil Robertson (Duck Dynasty) merchandise off its shelves. I am very, very disappointed to hear this. I have been a huge fan of Cracker Barrel in the past. I find it disgusting that you would try and punish somebody for exercising their first amendment rights, no matter whether you or I agree with what they say.
I wonder what stand, if any, Cracker Barrel choose to take when Martin Bashir went on a vile tirade about Sarah Palin? I will take Cracker Barrel’s silence as tacit support for this variety of hate speech, just as I take their action against Phil Robertson as their active support of muzzling free speech.
Unfortunately, some of my employees already received Cracker Barrel gift cards for Christmas. If they turn them in, I’ll offer double their value at the online Duck Commander store. You will not be receiving my support in the future or from anyone who values my opinion.
Here’s to hoping you enjoy a Merry Christmas and are never at the receiving end of politically-correct corporate hate. Give my regards to Scrooge.

It is my understanding that you have withdrawn Duck Dynasty merchandise from your stores. Well, I am “one of his kind.” So I assume you do not want me to eat at your restaurant. My extended family numbers around 20. But I have cousins by the dozens in North Carolina, West Virginia, Colorado, etc., and I can see from Facebook that are not happy either with your response to Duck Dynasty. It is not only called Freedom of speech, but also Freedom of Religion. In fact I agree with Mr. Robertson. The Bible Belt (which is where so many Cracker Barrel Restaurants are located) lists the very sins he was talking about and for which we can receive forgiveness. But Mr. Robertson said he makes no judgments. People need to show love as Mr. Robertson shared. God’s Word is true and when push comes to shove, I will stand with the Bible (and with Mr. Robertson). I like to dine at Cracker Barrel but I guess I will NOT be breaking bread there any time soon. And neither will my family! I am “gonna” miss you.

To the CEO’s of Cracker Barrel. I thought that you stood for good old fashion family values. Evidently not, since you have pushed Phil Robertson out of your store because he spoke the truth when he was ask. If it had been anyone else besides a Christian (like the gays bad mouthing Christians) then you would probably be ok with that. I won’t be going to your store until you do what is right and fair with Duck Dynasty. I will pass the word tool

I have had stock in the Cracker Barrel Company for quite a few years. I will be selling it on Monday as the…so called FAMILY restaurant has sided with the homosexuals against family values and the Bible. Proof of this is that they are removing the Duck Dynasty products from their shelves….because…they say…they don’t want to offend anyone. Well…I am offended, as American, that you would trample my freedom of speech! There are a lot of other places to eat….and buy good merchandise…..so my whole family and I will be going elsewhere. Good Bye Cracker Barrel….I think you just shot yourself in the foot!!

I am disheartened to read Cracker Barrel has removed some of its Duck Dynasty merchandise in response to Phil Robertson’s personal opinion. This land was founded on free speech and that is his opinion and those who disagree are free to do so. Phil did not call anyone a derogatory name, he merely expressed his personal opinion. I and my family have in the past enjoyed eating at Cracker Barrel and now we will eat elsewhere, in a place that respects free speech.

While you have every right to make that decision, I will exercise my right to NEVER eat at another Cracker Barrel again. I don’t even watch that show but I am so tired of businesses caving to politically correct agendas. You carry Christian Merchandise in your store but you want to censure Phil Robertson for expressing his Christian beliefs!? It makes no sense. Recently I was at your Chesapeake, Virginia, 1440 Greenbrier Pkwy location on Sunday 12-15 store #629. I had lunch there after Church. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had while dining out at a restaurant. I’ve eaten at Cracker Barrel many times this year and countless times over the years. In fact, I know one of the managers at the Greenbrier Pkwy location Chris Paulie. We used to be co-workers several years ago at Pargo’s, restaurant which used to be on Greenbrier Pkwy in Chesapeake, Virginia. Sadly, Pargo’s restaurant closed it’s doors over eight years ago. During the visit at Cracker Barrel, manager Chris Paulie DISCRIMINATED against me for no apparent reason at all.
To start off, the nightmare began in the parking lot, with me driving around five times, circling the parking lot, like a jerk off. Cracker Barrel needs more parking spaces in their lot. Cracker Barrel has guests parking in places they shouldn’t be, like double parking, etc., because the lot was over crowded. Please fix this problem, as nobody should have to park several blocks away or across the street somewhere else. When we signed in we requested a four top, on the side. We were told no problem. But, next we have the hostess, who had an attitude with the lady that I was with. She didn’t want to seat her at a four top on the side, anywhere in the restaurant because she didn’t think it was available! All the while she didn’t look around the restaurant, and kept standing in one spot, in the front of the middle section of the restaurant. The lady, that I was with, noticed that a four top table on the side, in the first section of the restaurant. People, at the four top, were leaving the restaurant, but the hostess did not want to seat us at the four top table. Finally, at the insistence of the lady, that I was with, the hostess finally agreed to sit us at that four top table.
Now, it comes time to order the lunch and that’s when the real nightmare began. I wanted to order the Sunrise Sampler and I can’t eat grits because they don’t agree with me. I asked my server, Rebecca if I could please substitute mashed potatoes for the grits and she told me she didn’t think so, but she would ask her manager to see what they would say. Chris Paulie was the manager that she went to ask. Chris looked and saw that it was me and said NO for whatever the reason was. Rebecca told me that he said no. Chris didn’t visit the table and tell me why, (he should’ve but he didn’t) so I HAD to order SOMETHING ELSE. What I don’t understand and maybe someone Can Help me out: aren’t both the mashed potatoes and the grits in a large tin container, being kept warm by hot boiling water? I’m sure they are! Then, what’s so hard about scooping the mashed potatoes instead of scooping the grits? Nothing at all, right? Chris Paulie just chose to DISCRIMINATE against me for whatever reason he felt like. The server, Rebecca was just so-so as far as the service was concerned. I had to ask her for rolls and I normally don’t have to ask anybody for rolls. Most servers bring out rolls automatically, without being asked. I saw that my server was bringing rolls to every other table, except for our table. I had to ask her if our rolls were ready. Her response was that she thought we wanted the rolls with the meal. Where did she get an idea like that? I told her I wanted them now, that I didn’t tell her to bring them with my meal. Finally, she brought the rolls to the table but she didn’t bring any jelly. I had to ask her for jelly as well. I shouldn’t have to ask the server for everything, the server should automatically do it without being asked. I’m sure the server didn’t want to be asked as well because she had other tables to tend to. Servers should know how to read their tables, don‘t you agree? The meal came out just after our rolls arrived!
I ordered the roast beef dinner, which came out luke warm. I didn’t say anything because I was hungry and I wanted to leave Cracker Barrel ASAP, because I was being treated like crap, from taking forever in the parking lot to the manager I WANTED TO GET THE HELL OUT OF Cracker Barrel. The lady who was with me, said her food was luke warm as well, except for her fried chicken. NOT ONCE did a manager make a table visit and I counted at least four to maybe five managers on duty.(Maybe Cracker Barrel needs more managers on duty because the managers who were on duty, clearly weren’t doing their job!) Chris Paulie was making table visits to every table in the restaurant EXCEPT for OUR TABLE. Chris Paulie walked by our table several times, TWELVE TIMES to be exact. Chris Paulie looked at me and the lady I was with, as if we were both GHOSTS and kept on walking. The table that I was dining at, was right by the checker board, by the server alley near the kitchen. I wasn’t in the back of the restaurant in bfe. I went to the bathroom and Chris Paulie happened to be in there, he saw me and looked down, as if he was superior to me and I was WORTHLESS. Again, when I was cashing out, at the register, up front, Chris Paulie was standing two feet from me, behind the counter. Once again, Chris Paulie looked the OTHER WAY, as if I didn‘t exist!
I really don’t know why Chris Paulie DISCRIMINATED AGAINST ME, because I’ve known him for over twelve years and he’s always been cool with me. I’ve never had a problem with him when we were co-workers. In fact, we used to play racket ball on occasion, when we were co-workers. This really hurts me deeply that someone that I’ve known for so many years, could DISCRIMINATE AGAINST ME!!!!!!!!!.
It saddens me to say this, but I can’t clearly, in good conscience, ever eat at a Cracker Barrel again because Chris Paulie DISCRIMINATED AGAINST ME and MADE ME FEEL WORTHLESS. Nobody should feel worthless while they are dining out at a restaurant. People dine out in restaurants because they want to forget about their problems for a little while, AND RELAX. They should not have problems created for them, while dining out. People have enough problems in their lives. My suggestion, to other people is simple: don’t eat at Cracker Barrel, period. Especially, store #629 at 1440 Greenbrier Pkwy in Chesapeake, Virginia. I AM HURT DEEPLY and I DON’T APPRECIATE THIS, I hope nobody will ever have to experience this HORRENDOUS, HATEFUL ACT AGAIN!!!!

On a resent visit to Cracker Barrell to purchase some Christmas gifts i was some what disappointed to see that when i went to purchase a Cracker Barrell giftcard that done of them had “Merry Christmas” they all said “Happy Holidays”. I asked the clerk if they had anymore and she said that was all they had. I don’t know if any of the other stores had any with “Merry Christmas” or not but that is one of the reason’s our counrty is in the mess that it’s in, we are taking “Christ” out of everything, even Christmas. With Cracker Barrell being only one of the very few “family” restaurant’s left, I just knew they would be celebrating the real reason for the season. This year was the first year that we have ever ordered take out for Thanksgiving. My mother is home-bound and she wanted a Cracker Barrel Thanksgiving dinner, On a recent trip to GA, we stopped several times at CB and noticed the Thanksgiving menus clipped to the regular menus. So, when we got home, we went to our Elizabethtown, KY store to get a menu. Two weeks before Thanksgiving the servers told us they had no idea what the menu would be but there would be “only green beans and no pumpkin pie” at all. All the dinners would be alike and we could just pick them up. Hmmm…one week before Thanksgiving, the hostess told us they had no information at all. We talked the the MANAGER and he said there was no menu but he thought there might be some sweet potato casserole. He rolled his eyes and tried to come up with answers…he had no clue about Thanksgiving meals at CB. The day before Thanksgiving, we called and were told to call and order our meal 30 minutes before we were ready to pick it up. So, today we called – nobody answered. My husband went in person to order our food. He said it was chaos – nobody facilitating, orders being filled our of order that customers came in. There was no way to order anything except what was on the picture (where was this picture when I was asking questions???). There WAS pumpkin pie (after I baked one at home grrrrr!!.) He waited 50 minutes and my mom was exhausted by the time the food got there. She ate a few bites and went to bed. So, will I EVER go to CB for Thanksgiving again – not a chance! Like you on Facebook? I don’t think so;. I get better attention writing to your CEO and other officers.

I’m honestly disgusted with this company. No location in particular. I’m upset with the WHOLE D*** FRANCHISE. You all claim to be family-oriented. I guess that doesn’t include your employees! The fact that you’re open EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Except Christmas, is absolutely appalling, and completely selfish on your part. Denying employees time with their families for all the other holidays, just so you can make a quick buck. It’s disgusting, and infuriating. I am a former employee, and I really don’t care how bad my financial situation gets, I’m NEVER GOING BACK. Myself, and the rest of my family, refuse to support such a selfish company. Not only do we not partake during the holidays, but we don’t partake during any other time of the year either! We have spread the word, and we continue to spread it to everyone. You are awful, and disgraceful. You’re completely selfish, and I hope karma bites you all in the a**.

I’d like to recommend a new restaurant location that would be perfect for CB. Please look into the northeast Denver shopping development called “The Shops at Northfield Stapleton.” It’s near a major highway exchange (I-25, I-70, I-270, I-225) and a recent upscale housing development (Stapleton). This place would be great fit for you and everyone I mention this idea to emphatically says yes!. The other businesses here would complement your restaurant nicely. There is a gaping hole for your type of restaurant in our nieghborhoood.

We had a very unpleasant dining experience on 8-12-13 at your Cracker Barrel Store #277 located in Goodyear, Az. My husband and I are retired and we patronize restaurants a good part of every week. We ordered the daily lunch feature which was baked chicken and dressing. This was served on a very small plate and one part of the chicken was full of tiny bones. There were three items of food on this extremely SMALL plate; therefore, no room for getting the small bones out of the way so to speak, so we could enjoy the portion which did not contain these bones. Dressing was cold in addition to the corn bread muffins as well. We paid for our meal, leaving most of it untouched, but did leave a tip since this was not the waitress fault. Upon checking out, the sweet cashier asked if everything was okay. My reply “no” and she said “Oh let me get one of the managers for you”. He was very matter of fact when I told him about all the small bones and no place to rid ourselves of them due to the size of the plate, much less a choking hazard. He didn’t even offer an apology. Just remarked that it was a lunch plate and that was the size all Cracker Barrel restaurants used for the lunch servings. Never mind the choking hazard. He was not even polite enough to offer an apology. We paid our bill and left thereby leaving a poor taste in our mouth of a meal, not to mention the demeanor of the Manager who spoke with us, who I believe was the Kitchen Manager. We thought you might need to correct this situation.

I have visited your cracker barrel store #503 in Altamonte Springs, Florida many times in the past 4 years, at different times of the day. On the 19th of July I went in to have an early dinner which turned out to be a bad mistake. We waited 15 minutes for someone to wait on us and finally had to get up and seek someone out. The meal of oven fried chicken was the worst I have ever eaten, the chicken was not done, the fries were ln little pieces and full of salt and cold as could be. The waitress took it back only after I insisted nothing was done or cooked properly. I was charged for the meal and left without eating any of it. No longer a customer of any cracker barrel.

Bob,
I hope you’ve heard from them by now, but I do have to let you know my experience. I am a quilter, and when asking about how they could begin offering quilts and other crafts from local artisans, I was informed that most of the goods are the same from franchise to franchise. Additionally, most of those goods are also made in China.
It is a sad day when a restaurant offers what passes as All American fare and and Chinese goods under the same roof. I am now suspicious of the origin of that food, too. Microwave? Or scratch? Hmm…

I have never watched a single episode of “Duck Dynasty. ” I am aware that Phil Robertson was protected by the first amendment i.e. the right to free speech. He gave his beliefs in an open interview and created a sensation of condemnation of his beliefs. CB for what ever reason interjected themselves into a situation without seeing possible consequences. CB decided to pull the DD products to keep from offending a small minority of the population and instead offended a larger majority of the population. When CB realized a tactical error had been committed , it reversed itself. Two stupid moves doesn’t make it right. My wife and I have went to CB for quite a few years while on trips. We have eaten there and made purchase in the gift shops. If a company is that easily led by public opinion and then reverses itself. I question the judgement of the executives that lead the company. I see no need to frequent the restaurants ever again. There are too many other places without political agendas that will get my business.

My sisters and I have recently inherited farm land in Indiana. Great location at intersection of I-74 and I-63. Perfect location for a CB. We all enjoy dining at CB and had discussed that being a Great thing to have in the area.

RE: Jeff Campbell
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Jennie Wilson, employee of Abbott Trailways (a tour company), located in Roanoke, VA. I work as a Host and bring many people to Cracker Barrel for meals during our tours. I would like for Jeff Campbell’s immediate supervisors to be made aware of his act of kindness that he showed towards our group of 32 people on July 8, 2013. We were headed to Canada when 2 ½ hrs. down the road upon leaving Cracker Barrel, a couple realized that she had left her purse containing her passport, credit cards, cash, drivers license all of which she needed to enter the country of Canada. Our bus driver did not have an additional 9 hrs. on the clock to drive so going back to retrieve the purse was not an option. After numerous calls of trying to Fed Ex her purse to two locations with our early departure from the hotel and border crossing that also was not an option. The only other option was to leave the couple there and with additional expenses to them finding another way home. Costing nearly $1000 for hotel, last minute tickets for the train, transportation to the train station and leaving the couple that was traveling with them in addition to losing their money they had spent for the trip this is what we were up against. After a few phone calls with Jeff he informed me that he would be getting off from work at 12 midnight and would drive the purse to our hotel, getting there around 4:00 a.m. AFTER WORKING ALL NIGHT—WOW. He drove 9 hrs to help this company and this couple, who does this. This man saved the day for
32 people, me and the couple involved. In todays world this does not happen much anymore, he sacrificed his time and his money to help these people. I am sorry to say that I feel the couple did not compensate Jeff the way he should have been compensated but I had no control over making them do more than they did. However I cannot say enough and thank Jeff enough for this act of kindness he showed to total strangers, it was greatly appreciated and I have shared this story with so many people of how God used this man and a single act of kindness to bring honor and glory to His name. My prayer is that Cracker Barrel will acknowledge what Jeff did and reward Jeff in some way and let the company know what an outstanding man and employee they have. Men of integrity are a rare commodity these days and Jeff certainly is one. I would like for Jeff to have the money I received as a tip for further compensation and again I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Jennie Wilson, Host

End of December my friend and our children visited your Tewksbury location. You’re male server (can not remember his name) was very short and rude upon greeting us and throughout the ENTIRE meal. Never brought extra napkins, never once asked if we wanted refills and dropped the check upon bringing our dinners. Never asked if we wanted dessert. Still….we tipped him 20%.
Fast forward to April 10, 2013. Same friend, same kids and myself visit the same Tewksbury location. We get the same male server. Again we were rushed out. There was miscommunication between my friend and I regarding the tip – I thought she left the tip, she thought I left the tip – this was not on purpose. While we were in the gift shop looking around our very frantic waiter tracked us down and asked why there was no tip left for him. I apologized and ransacked my bag for money to hand over to him. No thank you from him.
You would think that’s enough to keep us away? Nope.
July 3rd we visited the Tewksbury location. Thankfully this male waiter was no where to be found but we had a waitress who was missing half her teeth and just appeared very “dingy”. My friend does not eat meat. She ordered the French toast and asked if she could substitute the meat for something else….our waitress wouldn’t allow it. My friend said “I can’t even get apples”? Nope, the waitress was not budging. Instead my friend got no meat, no substitute and she was still charged the full price. Again, we were never asked if we wanted refills or dessert.
Typically I do not complain. But today I am. Every single November my family and I go tag a Christmas tree and visit the Cracker Barrel after. It is a very large group of us. Also, when we cut down the tree in December again, we visit the Cracker Barrel.
I would love to continue coming to the Cracker Barrel but with the service I have received recently it is the last place I want to step foot in. I am a waitress. I know how it works. Demanding a tip and chasing down a customer is NOT something I do. Telling a customer flat out “NO” you can’t have some crappy dried up apples instead of a side of meat is not OK.
I am truly appalled at your staff I have encountered over the last few months.
I hope this is addressed….or I could post it on your Facebook page and let the world know how awful your Tewksbury location is becoming.

Would like to know if it is possible to purchase one of your larger diningroom tables ? ? ?
Thought that since you sold the rocking chairs you could sell tables or I could order one.. The larger one in your resturant is the perfect size (width and length) the fit in my small diningroom and the color matches my diningroom cabinet and hutch perfectly. We go to the Altamonte Springs, Fla. resturant all the time and really enjoy it there. So waiting to hear back from you. Thank you.

I very disappointed in Cracker Barrel lack of caring for their customer lately .Their food and in their service is not what it use to be they have unqualified servers the RISING STAR and Management .I live in knoxville tn.and visit several locations from Nashiville to the Tri Cities and its apparent they have changed for the worse.I was in the location when have a distric Manger doing a check on the store and we both had visited the rest room at the same time and I was shocked when done his business check his hair and walked out [ WITH OUT WASHING HIS HANDS] .I went to the cashier and had her call him up to the cashier stand I ask why he did that and he blatantly denied it but my friends son was also in the rest room and saw what he had done. And when finaly admitted it he was full of excuses and then he apologized. Well it seem that is whats new at CRACKER BARREL a mouth of excuses and no results he has trained them well.I hope someone cares about what was a very good restaurant can fix it be for its to late. Thanks RICK H.

We live in smaller community that is going through the oil boom. The town is Gonzales, TX. Several Motel, homes, apartments, RV locations are being built to handle the growing number of oil well workers all around this part of Texas. This is great for us but some new restaurants are needed quickly to help feed the population growth. A cracker barrel would be great and have parking for their larger trucks along with the quick service I think it would be a win-win situation
Another town needing places to eat is Flatonia, TX with borders on I-10 and gets lots of traffic from Houston and San Antonio passing through.
Thank you. Posted 6-4-2013

I have been ATTEMPTING to eat at Cracker Barrel for the last year. I say this because every time I walk into the franchise I expect to leave because of the lack of cleanliness of the dinning instruments (i.e. plates, bowls, silverware, glasses). There was another franchise around during the birth of Cracker Barrel that is barely around these days who had the exact same issues, Stuckey’s. Two years ago, I first reported this problem to Cracker Barrel about a single store in Louisiana and was informed it was because of problems with the dishwashers breaking down. Since then, I have noted the same problems in all stores in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Kentucky that I have been to. This issue and become an epidemic throughout the franchise. Will the CEO and President of Cracker Barrel allow this franchise to disappear just like their once rivals did from the same problem or will they take the necessary actions to cure this epidemic? We can only wait and see.

To whom this may concern,
I have been a fan of Cracker Barrel for a number of years. My family has been visiting your restaurants all around the US for several occasions along the years.
I have grown up eating your grocery products as well such as cheeses dips etc. A new personal favorite of mine is the 2% Milk sharp cheddar snack bag that contains a few sealed cheeses individually. However that has ended officially after last night.
I buy bags of these every 2 weeks because I use them as my primary after dinner snack. My first problem was about 4 weeks ago.. I had purchased a bag only to find almost ALL of the sealed cheese were dry and completely uneatable. Pissed off after opening a third and finding it dry as well, I proceeded to open the rest and found the same lovely dry cheese in every packet. Yes.. I indeed had no other choice and threw out this useless bag of $7 dollar cheese.
I decided to give you guys the benefit of the doubt and decided to do my grocery shopping at a completely different super market. Last night as I sat on the couch and ripped off the slit of the cheese packet what I had discovered was not in fact cheese. Words can not describe how disgusting this was. You are extremely lucky I got a hold of myself and didn’t post pictures of it all over your “CHEESE FACEBOOK” because I was and am incredibly irate.
The wrapper came off and what fell into my lap do you ask? A blob of mold that’s what! My cheese was not yellow or orange my cheese was GREEN. Yes GREEN! And so was the rest of the damn bag! So I thank you kindly for making me have to disinfect my entire table, my couch, and blankets. I thoroughly enjoyed the powder mold scent I was doused with before bed. This is completely unacceptable, disgusting, dangerous, and could severely harm a consumer including MYSELF. It is wonderful to know you have a good eye on what’s being shipped out to your stores if you even care that is.
I think this should be brought to your immediate attention. If you don’t read this page .. I suggest you start because you are sending out rotten goods to now two super markets in New York. I will be looking forward to your response.. And if I don’t hear one in the near future ill gladly bring it to your attention on Facebook with the glorious photos of the tasty green mold cheese I almost consumed with god only knows what forms of bacteria were lurking on it. If this is not who I need to speak to please be so kind and point me in the right direction.
Regards
Hope

Very dissatisfied with your company. I and my friends frequent CB. I have 3 receits for eating just the last month! I was shocked at the uncaring attitude of your corporate when I was burned by a Cracker Barrel cup. The handle overheated after 1 minute in the microwave and burned me so bad my finger immediately blistered a huge 3/4″ blister. When I called the Company, it was an immediate “not our fault’ dance. they told me they would definitely not cover if any medical was needed. They accused the microwave even though it was not doing it to any of my other dishes. Funny, I normally don’t like corporate Walmart, but when I called them in case it was the microwave, the guy said 4 times in our conversation , “i’m so sorry you got hurt”. I got a call within an hour from the manager of the local WalMart store offering a refund or exchange just in case it was the microwave. I definitely think differently about WM now and differently about Cracker Barrel as well…not for the better unfortunately!
A couple days later i got a call from Roberta Chambers in your quality control dept. She was also cold and uncaring and wanted the cup back. She told me they tested other cups and it was not doing it so would I send this back. She offered a 25 dollar gc so I thought that was for the burn and the fact that is hurt so bad and made it nearly impossible to do my sewing business (my income) for a couple days after the injury. When I asked if she was paying for the shipping she said that is what the gift cert. was for and acted like that was more than generous and offended that I should ask they pay the 6 collar shipping to return the cup! Again, that completley uncaring attitude I have gotten all along with this injury. You should be ashamed of treating your customers that way. I am extremely dissatisfied!

Wahhhh. Get over it. People do drugs. oh well. It doesn’t mean you should deny them a job because of a lifestyle choice. Unless the drugs affected service it shouldn’t concern you and is frankly no business of yours.

We eat often at Cracker Barrel and purchase from you gift store as well. We bought an animated ‘Christmas Dog’ last year. It worked fine during the holidays and put it away. We brought it out again this year and didn’t work. We replaced the batteries and still did not work. We went to Cracker Barrell in Marana, AZ and asked to exchange it for this years model. Two sales rep’s said it would be fine. When I went to the register the cashier had to call the manager who had a ‘mean’ look on her face (name written on the brochure was ‘Shan-manager’). Or maybe it was Store manager. I asked for her name. One clerk said they had last year’s stored up above in storage but couldn’t get it right then. The manager said anything over 90 days couldn’t be exchanged. We put it away working but 300+days later it did not. We just wanted another one. I am sure Cracker Barrel could get credit from the manufacturer. This manager was very vocal and seemed a bit ‘mean’ to us in front of other customers who looked surprised she could not or would not help. We hope Cracker Barrels good reputation will allow us to exchange this item. Our item even cost several dollars more, which didn’t matter to us. Thank you. Richard Yandow.

Don’t ever fall or get burned by a dish at Cracker Barrel-they deny having liability insurance and don’t even provide insurance information, they only deal with legal representation. Very surprised by lack of compassion from corporate office.

Hello,
My name is Jeff Scott. My wife, son’s girlfriend and I came to South Carolina to see my son graduate from basic training at Fort Jackson.
On the evening of Friday December 7th, my wife had three items stolen out of her purse, while looking over items in the gift shop of the Crackerbarrel, I26, Summerville, South Carolina location. The items were: a drivers license, credit card and a debit card.
Whoever did this was quite skilled. They took the wallet out of her purse, then took the items out and put the wallet back in while the purse was being held.
The discovery of the theft was made as we were in line at the TSA screening in Charleston airport the next morning. When asked for an identification to present with the boarding pass, my wife found the items missing, causing her distress, a full interview and subsequent pat down since she had no direct means of identity herself.
This crime could only have been committed at the Crackerbarrel location. The reasons are listed below:
We drove directly from from the Highway to that location.
The table we had was isolated from other tables.
My wife did not go to the bathroom.
No one could or did approach the purse during dinner. It was between us.
After the gift shop we went to the car and hotel, where she stayed in the car until we went to the room, while she was carrying her purse. No one came near her during this time.
The credit card company and bank noted that attempted and actual purchases occurred at a nearby Walmart and Target very shortly after we left the Crackerbarrel.
The unsuccessful purchase occurred at Walmart for $590. The successful purchases at Target with the Target card was for $117 and another for over $500.
At the airport I called the I26, Summerville Crackerbarrel and was connected to a man named Frank who said he was the general manager. I told him of the incident and included that there was an older Caucasian woman who seemed to be an employee of the store and was walking about the gift shop floor looking as if she was checking the customers and making sure of no thefts. She said good night to us when we left. But her expression on her face left me uneasy. I did not connect the dots until the next morning. She may have been there doing her job. The question is what job was she really doing? Other than our party of three, there were two young women who were looking about. Frank said that there were security cameras in place and added that better cameras from the headquarters were also working and that they would review the footage. He asked for my phone number and said someone might contact me.
I called the Summerville police department this morning and spoke to an officer Dickerson. In so many words, she told me that unless the card company and or bank are contesting the charges there probably is no need for a report since it will most likely will not lead to anything.
Our experience in the restaurant was good. The gift shop obviously was not. This was our first visit to a Crackerbarrel. It made a lasting impression.
