Winn-Dixie History

Winn-Dixie was founded by William Milton Davis and his sons in Burley, Idado in 1914.  Davis bought a general stores which he renamed to Davis Mercantile.

In 1925, Davis borrowed $10,000 (about $125,000 in today’s dollars) from his father, moved to Miami, Florida and purchased Rockmoor Grocery.  Two years later, the business was renamed to Table Supply and 4 additional stores were opened.

In 1933, 33 additional stores were added with the purchased of Lively Stores chain for $10,000.  William Davis died the following year.

In 1939, William’s sons bought 51% of Winn-Lovett, a 73 store chain.  In 1944, the brothers adopted Winn-Lovett as the company name and moved the corporate office to Jacksonville, Florida.  More acquisitions followed in the 40s and 50s and Winn-Lovett went public in 1952.

The company continued to grow through acquisitions up until the 2000’s.

In 2005, the company went into bankruptcy and planned to close over 300 stores.  In 2011, the company was purchased by BI-LO.

There are currently 485 Winn-Dixie branded stores in the US, mostly operating in the South.  The Winn-Dixie corporate office is still located in Jacksonville.

I moved to Pensacola, FL in January 1994, married, and began shopping at Winn-Dixie. My wife had been shopping with them for many years prior. Our life style includes writing several checks to W-D a week for amounts of purchase — over the decades, thousands of checks. Several years ago, for no known reason, W-D’s register software began rejecting my checks, requiring a manager being summoned and manually clearing them, embarrassing me by making me look like a check bouncer or deadbeat. . My wife’s checks are always accepted, and she and I are on both (separate) accounts. I changed W-D stores in town. The problem followed me. I spoke to five managers, two at the previous store and three at the new store. Four of the five responded to me, a justifiably frustrated and angry customer, combatively. The last incident was yesterday, October 1, 2019. At the same time, and at the same register, a very respectable woman was complaining to the same manager, who spoke to her very briskly, virtually ordering her not to leave the store until he could talk to her, about her debit card unexpectedly being rejected — the same sort of problem I was having. No effort was made by any of the managers to find the source of my problem and correct it. (All this time I have had no problem having my checks accepted at the pharmacies, which are different companies only resident in W-D stores and operating under the W-D name.)

I made one call to the home office about this situation. Nothing changed.

Clearly Winn-Dixie doesn’t care about customer relations. I will not spend one more nickel in a W-D store except at the pharmacy. Ever.

I’ve seen the quality standards at Winn Dixie erode over the last 10 years. Winn Dixie doesn’t give a rat’s a** what kind of crap they offer for sale to customers, which means they don’t give a rat’s a** about their customers.
If you like your beef tough, tasteless and dry, Winn Dixie is the obvious choice. If you like fruit pulled out of cold storage after months of dehydration, Winn Dixie is the obvious choice. If you like packaged fresh produce rotting in the packages but still on Winn Dixie produce shelves, Winn Dixie is the obvious choice.

I would fire the top 3 layers of corporate management at Winn Dixie, with immediate effect. It’s obvious they don’t give a rat’s a**. But, that’s not an option. My option, and one which I will act on, is to avoid shopping at Winn Dixie. I’ve been doing most of my shopping at Winn Dixie for the last 20 years, for the sake of convenience. No more. Goodbye Winn Dixie.

Store #210 in Tamarac Fl. After 15 yrs. of shopping at this store today was my last attempt. No meat ready for the sale, butcher was not there and meat dept not stocked at all. Lately the cashiers have been less than hospitable. No customer service, rude, or bored, and actually complain to customers or in front of us. 7:50 and the butcher was just arriving. Store opens 7am it has gotten dingy, and not well kept. I blame management for not taking the time or care to train the crew. Most time lately they don’t even acknowledge customers. I am hesitant to give this store even 1 star.

I went to the Winn Dixie on chef store #1439 in New Orleans East. The managers were very rude and the lines were extremely long. I will not be returning to this store and I will spread the word that store has become very inappropriate and needs to go.

hi i was in one of your winn dixies in bradenton florida off of 44th ave and 75th st west store number 0656 around hour 1400 (2pm). I was picking up a prescription for my wife and upon arrival i was informed in a very rude way that my prescription was on hold and he refused to fill it until i was there picking it up. So not only was my wife prescription not ready the manager of the pharmacy Steve was very rude and unprofessional. i was very angry leaving this pharmacy and i will be tasking my business to another pharmacy. i will not tolerate being told that the pharmacist refuse to fill a prescription until i pick it up. Its literally his job and for him to be rude to me is unacceptable. Im informing who ever the ceo of this company to inform you that the pharmcy tech was rude and inporfessional. if hes done it to me who else is he being rude to. you probably should look into that.

I went to Winn Dixie on SR210 in St Johns, FL. I went to buy soda products for work like I have done in the past and the night manager told me he could not sale me the sodas. I asked him why and he replied I won’t get another truck until Thursday and I need these sodas for my customers. Me blank stare, because I was trying to figure out whether I was a customer or not. I left the store without an argument, I frequent the store and thought it was a for profit business. All the other employees were confused just as I. I hope and pray he didn’t single me out for being an Afro-American person, the thought was running through my mind. I set that aside and told him I would go to another Winn-Dixie and get the sodas. I work for Anheuser-Busch and I would not appreciate a Store Manager not selling our products. Pepsi I’m quite sure would not approve either. I called the store the next morning to see if that was a policy not to sell 20 cases of various types of sodas and I as told there is no policy. This happened 27 March 2019 @ 10:30 pm. I couldn’t get the night managers name he stayed to the side.

I find Winn Dixie is going downhill. I have shopped many years and always #1 grocery store. Recently this store at Venice Center and Jacaranada Blvd. has no stock on the shelves and when ask they say that is all we have. I still love your meat dept. and fish better than most stores. Your customer service is not good quality and for that reason , I only come and buy your meat and fish. Hate to see Winn -Dixie go downhill but you have to be competitive and good quality to stay in business. Disappointed

Re: Case number 07430778. Why hasn’t someone in authority contacted me with a response with regard to this case. Having the other pharmacist, who had absolutely nothing to do with the issue, call me to say he doesn’t know why this happened is not an answer. The actions in question were perpetrated by Mr. Koblein and pharmacy tech Michelle. If necessary I will be making a formal complaint to the office of professional discipline and if I continue to be ignored by Winn Dixie management I will contact an investigative reporter and turn over all my documentation to him. Perhaps I will bring this up as a legal issue since it does involve a very sensitive health issue. Those involved should be very ashamed of themselves.

I sent my fiancé to the store in Deltona off of providence, I sent him to get a birthday cake for my Mothers 50th birthday, He told them it was her 50th and they gave him a cake that says 25th, after talking to a few assosicates and manager to get this fixed, they refused and my fiancé got heated and cursed them out they trespassed him because he cursed them out and they wouldn’t fix their mistake, so I will be never shopping at Winn Dixie again, I also tried calling the store myself and get a busy call every time and cant even get ahold of a manger, I will be giving the corporate a call in the morning and get this resolved, I might also take a trip to the store it self and speak to the manager myself as it was my money wasted and the problem was not fixed.

Is too bad that this is not organized better when my brother got the…re he had 85 cars in front, even with the police some cars got in front of other cars he talked to the police letting the police know what was going on and that he was a disabled person, he even had a cane that he uses for his health condition and also a disability tag, but the police didnt care he had to leave because he did not have a chance, after waiting more than 1 hour, I think more police needs to be to controling this cars, will be a good idea in the middle of the line not just in the front, very dissapointed with this because he really needs this due to his health condition and the money he receives is not enough…in Tampa, Fl 3650 S Dale Mabry Tampa, Fl

I am leaving the store now no food and after being hospitalized. I shop here twice every month no matter what. The reason why is because my stomach because will not having anything else but, Check Peach sodas. I can’t even drink water because I had a gastric bypass surgery and I have a stricter that block my digestion system that’s why I patronize Winn Dixie because no one carries them and I also really love the store. I will reach out to corporate via email tonight and I will explain this situation to them. Have a wonderful evening.

Hey Guys,
I just returned from shopping at your ‘Older’ store in Holiday Fla. ( 644)
When I first moved to this area I had always shopped there. Little by little the service and product selection dwindled as did my trips to either Winn Dixie store.
Today, one of the sale items brought me back in.
As I entered the parking lot, I prepared myself mentally for the upcoming typical Winn Dixie encounter, and I reminded myself to remain patient.
I was pleasantly surprised with the difference todays trip was.
The store was the cleanest I have ever seen it, well organized, well stocked, and an employee wearing a white shirt actually said good morning to me.
The produce and bakery departments were looking good and fresh. The grocery and dairy department were well displayed and properly signed. (Sadly the meat dept was somewhat lacking .)
The biggest shock came when I went to the check out line .There were 2 registers open and each had a bagger. As another customer came on line behind me one of the baggers opened another register. This has never happened in the past.
Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised with my shopping experience today.!
Not knowing if today was a ‘fluke’ or the start of something new, I will not immediately be incorporating WD back into my almost daily shopping trips, but I will not shy away as strongly either.
If you keep this up, Publix had better beware. (<:
All the best,
Jim Senecal

I have tried for almost an hour to email Winn Dixie about a promotional issue & what seemed to be a gimmick to only be more frustrated that you can’t even send an email in to complain! Beyond furious at this point there is an issue & you don’t even have a way to send an email complaint!!

Is there an actual email address to write to outside of their website portal?

cant believe every day it gets worst at the store on kingshighway in port charlote,fl. i like the location to our home, thats way we continue to spend our money there.18 years and service is very bad, close customer service counter early sometimes before 8pm always have sign closed, need to wait to buy lotto, returns, and other items through that service area. employees nasty, rude, never greet you kindly, never appear interested in helping you yell at you play around and joke up front in front of customers, argue with you, very young appearing almost look like students operating the store.not wanting to be helpful always cant wait to get out of there. never, never, say come back, hello, good bye, thanks for shopping here or any skills of being trained properly. too many problems all the time. this continues daily with us.we will not be shopping there any longer. store needs proper training and show appresheation for customers . lack of concern ,non helpful, non professional child like attitudes.

I live within 2 miles of your Store # 2474 In Lehigh Acres, FL. I visited your Store yesterday for the last time. All I want to know is why this Store has to be so ungodly COLD in there. I’m disabled and suffer from Arthritis in my hands and I kid you not by the time I reached the Reg. I literally could not feel my fingers. My hands ache so bad from the cold.I could never do my weekly shopping in there I would come down with Pneumonia. After 5 mins. in that Store your ready to leave because it’s so cold in there. I’ve been here for over 20 yrs. and see no need to keep the temp. this cold. What ever happened to the comfort and satisfaction for the Customers ? So just to let you know I will no longer be shopping in your Store. Even your Employees freeze to death in there. My God their bundled up like their in the Northern cold.Save some energy and turn the A.C. up. As you walk around your Store Customers are all complaining how cold it is in there. I shopped there when it was Sweetbay and it was never this uncomfortable in there. Truly yours, Carol Stolz

Store Number #1454
This groceries store the managers that work there treat most of their employees like no team player. I saw one manager talking to one of their employees like crap. I said to myself a manager should never talk to their employees or even give their employees a silent treatment and walk away or even give their employees a cold shoulder. A manager should not make their employees unwanted to be apart of the company. An employee is the brand of the store a manager should uplift all their employees even if the managers don’t like or don’t want to be around their employees which they themselves hire those young adults. I walk into this store to shop all the time and just observe every employee and managers of how they treat their employees. Which is the face of the store. This store needs to do better with their employees. Also, the employees need to do better of working together not against or doesn’t like an employee working in the department. Discrimination isn’t good either. This job needs to have an everyday meeting before starting work. When there are no customers less busy. This going to better the employees this way.

I live in Ocean Springs MS. Winn Dixie is my favorite grocery to shop. However, I’m very disappointed in the very recent remodel to the store that no “self checkout” lanes were added! This would certainly ease the long checkout lanes for someone who only has 3 or 4 items to purchase, or for that matter only 1 item to purchase. Especially, for someone who stops by after a long workday and is ready to be at home! Come on Winn Dixie – get with the program; remove one of the register stations and install several “self checkout” lanes. I can’t believe neither of our newly remodeled grocery stores added these!!! And yes, I do plan to contact Rouse’s as well!!!

Judith bokuniewicz September 24, 2017 at 5:03 pm

I keep giving Winn Dixie second, third, fourth chances. We spend a lot of money in store. Every. Timee I buy a piece of meat there it is cut on a slant!! I spent $14.98 on an eye round. Take it out to put in oven and again On A SLANT! which means part rare and part well done that we can’t eat cus its like rubber!! What is wrong with the pro tocols for your butchers!! I am totally disgusted. This store is in Debary, Fl. On 1792 and enterprise!

Nicole Rubi September 15, 2017 at 10:32 pm

I have never had a problem with this Winn Dixie and shop Atleast twice a week at this location, but I recently went and the cashier turned the bag holders to me, told me to bag as if it were my job and when there was more items still missing to be bagged, the cashier turned around and attended the next customer. When I called her attention to put the remaining items in the bag, she ignored and pretended we weren’t there. When I called her attention a second time, she turned to us and apologized, but did nothing to bag the items, I had to do it myself. BAGGING IS NOT MY JOB! I AM A PAYING CUSTOMER AND IT OUTRAGEOUS THAT THE EMPLOYEE WOULD DO SUCH A THING! If Winn Dixie doesn’t have employees, maybe you should hire some to bag, because it is not expected of the customer to bag. The customer service was absolutely terrible and will try to contact the manager of this store as well to have a talk about their customer service! Another thing is, Winn Dixie has no 10 or less items. It is the fourth time I have to go to the lottery line to pay for my stuff and still get refused when buying one item, because they don’t have a scale to weigh the item.

Laketa September 8, 2017 at 5:13 pm

I have never in my life experienced the type of service I did today. I frequently visit this location and have never experienced what I unfortunately had to experience today. The line that I was in had a cashier that needs to go back through orientation and be refreshed on her job duties and responsibilities. She was having a conversation with a guy that I assume was her boyfriend or husband while ringing up a customer in front of him. Once finished ringing up that customer she rung her ” friend ” up while continuing her conversation with him for several minutes all while customers wait in line for her assistance. Eventually the people behind me getting out of line and going to another. When she was finally finished talking she blew him several kisses and then opened a Kit Kat and begin to eat while ringing me up. Once she started she was scanning my items and slinging them into the bagging area. I asked her do you have to sling my things like that and her response was ” I only have 1 hand ” while biting and chewing the Kit Kat in her hand. I could not believe what I had just heard and was witnessing . I took my phone out and began to record her. She left the register and called a manager. When the managers came over they were unprofessional, unapologetic, unapproachable, unconcerned and rude to say the least. The manager told me that “she had just worked a double and was hungry and needs to eat she is human.” To my disbelief I was made to feel like I was unhuman to expect her not to sling the things that I was purchasing while eating a Kit Kat in my face. I am sure Winn Dixie follows the labor laws and allows their employees to have their breaks in the break area. The integrity and values of a company is what carries them for years to come and your store # 2390 has NONE. Please be aware that this is not the only grocery store in this area and people will not spend their hard earned money and be disrespected at the same time. It’s employees like these that tarnish a company’s brand.

My experience at Winn Dixie in Yulee, Florida #0180 I needed to return an unopened, package of Covergirl make-up this morning(7-9-21017) When I walked inside the store there was No One available to help assist me in my return. I asked a cashier to please find someone to help with the return.. There was a young woman named CASSIE who walked out from a back room- she glared at me and Did not greet me or even say Hello- I explained to her my return on the covergirl makeup- I had no receipt..CASSSIE immediately had a Bad attitude-Hot temper and Treated me like Garbage! I could NOT even talk to her about my return so I requested the Manager. CASSIE went back to the back room talked to DAVID-THE ASSISTIANT MANAGER-he comes out with a UNPLEASNT, STERN,GLARE and immediately told me policy was NO RECEIPT-NO RETURN!!!!! I asked him could I exchange it.. the package was NEW and UNOPENED. DAVID- remained UNPLEASANT and UNHELPFUL.. I did Call DAVID and expressed my opinion about how HE( DAVID) and CASSIE treated me as a customer!!!!! IT WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE- NO CUSTOMER SHOULD BE TREATED THE WAY CASSIE AND DAVID TREATED ME ON A RETURN!!!!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL& RUDE! I

I bought a swimming pool float at the Englewood WinnDixie and was unhappy when I opened the package to find printing and the fill nozzles on the printed side (not the way it looked on package). I decided to return it; I waited at the customer service desk for a while before being waited on while the clerk talked on the phone in what appeared to be a personal call. When I explained why I was returning it she told me that I could use the float because the nozzles could be pushed in but that she would refund the $5.99. At this point, my husband chimed in and said that she was right and I replied to him using the “f” word. The clerk looked up from the cash registered and asked me if I had used the “f” word to which I replied yes. She told me that , “an older woman such as yourself should not be using that language”. I do not need to be reprimanded by someone re what I say to my husband. She needs to mind her own business, do her job. I wonder if she would be so quick to chime in if it was a group of teenaged boys( who, by the way, can be overheard saying much worse things). I will never, NEVER, shop at Winn-Dixie again.

ive been trying to get a job at Winn-Dixie in wps on military for the past 4 month. I have filed numerous application. after talking to the store manager then the hiring managr then the store manager for the past month I finally land an interview. and not because they called me and he tells but because I kept calling them. on the day of the interview with the hiring manager I arrived to the interview 15 miutes early. I’m told by the hiring manager to have a seat because he was extremely busy helping the cashiers and as a retail manager myself I understood. so I waited patiently an hour or so once again he apologizes and says please be patient. about 20 min after that conversation I raise my head to look around and hes no where to be seen. so at this point I’m like ok mayb he went to get paper work he wants me to sign or something. so 15 minutes after that I get up and walk to customer service and ask them to please page the hiring manager because I have an interview with him. so I’m told that he left that his shift was over. I’m so disappointed I called him back the following day and he somewhat apologized but it didn’t sound still being givin the round around regarding employment. I have 20 years management experience but I guess these days that’s not important.

Gentlemen, While shopping in the W/D store # 2354 in Sebastian, Florida on June 6, 2017 at about 3:30 pm., I was having a problem finding the beefsteak tomatoes that were advertised in the circular that had a sale date of May 31 thru June 6 2017. There was a sign above a display of tomatoes that said “Beefsteak Tomatoes” $1.69 per pound. Having enjoyed the taste of these for years, these tomatoes did not look at all like “Beefsteak” and further more, there were no labels on these indicating such, so I asked an employee to assist me. He immediately got a “produce employee” to help me. This person assured me that these tomatoes that were below the sign were definitely “Beefsteak”. I questioned him as to how one would know that, and his response was ” I should know as I was the one who stocked them”.
Against my better judgement, I purchased some of them. After checking out and having used my “PLENTI” card, I looked at my receipt and found that I had been charged for “Vine Ripe” tomatoes at $2.49 per pound for a total of $5.78.. i immediately went to the “exchange clerk” who was extremely friendly and issued me a credit for the difference in the price.
I see this as a breakdown in assuring the “public” that they are getting the proper items that were advertised.
Thanking you in advance for your assistance. Yours truly, D.Page

Unfortunately I have to file a complaint against Winn-Dixie store#328. As I had purchased a fresh loaf of “Dave’s Killer Bread”, so I thought, only to get home and open it and see the mold that had taken over the entire loaf. I understand vendors oversee this area but this now makes more than one occasion in many different departments that I have found old and expired food. When I buy foods I always reach to the back of the stack to gain the freshest product. As food products are rotated or should be to keep the oldest and most likely to expire first up front to sell sooner I have been finding just the opposite at this store. The oldest product is pushed to the back, in another instance of mine concerning bagged lettuce, and the new is placed in the front? I have watched the produce department also put out fresh boxes of tomatoes, potatoes, etc… on top of already soft, leaking, damaged and rotten product. I have monitored this behavior for over 8 months now and can barely stand to go into this store and shop period! I’ve even gotten old, smelly and slimy deli sliced meat. $9 a lb. at that! This one store is responsible for allot of people local and tourists alike because of its location and nothing else being available. Publix has become a more trusted source for my food purchases even though the drive is twice as far and twice as long with traffic. Something has happened at this store, it used to be a lot better. Unfortunately I am cancelling my membership with Winn-Dixie at this time and using all sources of media to share this gross negligence. For the sake of my family, friends and vacationers so they do not waste their money and possibly become sickened by expired rotting food.

Today I went online to have a prescription filled, after logging in all my info was gone? Tried using my cell phone, recording said to go to the store? I then went to the Winn Dixie #2443, 3327 9th St North, St Pete and discovered that the drugstore had been shut down about a week ago. Wow, a sign on the door said my account had been transferred to a nearby CVS. Unbelievable, since I had received no notification of this transfer. The fact that my account was transferred to CVS without my knowledge has really made me angry. What kind of corporation would pull this totally unprofessional behavior? Shame on you, Winn Dixie, for all your customer service BS. There are all kinds of medical, logistical and ethical problems from transferring prescriptions without people’s knowledge. I would suggest that your corporation should own up to this fiasco publicly so that other similar customers like myself can be made aware of this activity beforehand.

The winn Dixie located on Bird Road and sw 112 ave in Miami Fl.(Westchester) is the WORST winn dixie i have EVER been to. The employees DONT CARE for their customers and the Managers are EXTREMELY RUDE! They dont restock products and then tell you that theyre out of any particular item. The produce sold at this location is ALWAYS ROTTEN or past expiration date. Someone should teach the employees how to treat their customers if they would like to be treated the same. SHAME ON THIS BUSINESS FOR ALL THE COMPLAINTS CUSTOMERS HAVE!

I was just informed that my Winn Dixie will no longer have a drugstore.
I loved my drugstore because I never had to wait like other places.
Why are you doing this?

Rick September 25, 2016 at 10:42 am

I have been a long time customer of Winn Dixie, and I am writing because for years, I have been purchasing the Jenny’O Turkey roast (from your deli) and have now been told that you are no longer carrying the item.

This is a delicious alterternative to chicken, and so convienant. I would like to request that you consider carrying this item again for the customers who enjoy this roast.

Thank you.

I live in New Orleans and have a major problem pertaining to your carding senior citizens. Today I attempted to buy lotto tickets at the Customer Service Counter and after she ran the slips she asked me for my ID. I asked her why (I’m 65) and she said her register told her to ask me for it. I told her I stopped buying liquor there because of the same insane policy. I told her I didn’t want the tickets and went into the store to buy something else. I saw a manager in the rear of the store and told him WalMart’s policy is when you buy liquor the register says “Is the customer under 40.” When the cashier says no,no ID is necessary. He said they had that policy once but people found a way around it. People find a way around all rules but i think its asinine to penalize the elderly with such an unnecessary tactic. I used to shop at WD frequently but due to this policy , I only buy sale items and then only sparingly. I told the cashier when I was leaving It wasn’t personal but the only way to change things is to complain. She told me she was stuck with the tickets because I picked my own numbers. I told her to do what I was going to do …..complain to someone who can change things.

I have been so turned off by my Winn Dixie not because of the store itself as your variety’s and prices are the only thing i love. Today i thought i would give the store one more try as every single time the customer service has been awful.I am visibly pregnant almost due with my 4 year old in the store and we bought groceries quite a few things today and the lines were all backed up, no big deal i understand it gets busy. As i finally got to the register it was the customer service manager not a regular cashier. Not once did she smile, acknowledge me, ask me how my day was, or even notice i was there.. i was shocked. She then continued to talk to the cashier behind her about facebook and hiring the other manager who was stocking the shelves friend and how they never put there application in. Went on the joke and laugh still ignoring me. Then another cashier comes up to bag a little bit and they talk about changing his time card and his lunch break. They traded off and he rang me up only to tell me to have a nice day and start ringing the next guy up behind me with my groceries in bags piled up on the register still with absolutely no help not one person, he slid the guys behind me waters on my groceries instead of just helping me real quick. I am seriously upset i worked for Winn Dixie for over a year and i know 100% these are not Winn Dixie standards, Walmart just opened a fresh market right down the road where i will probably be going next time. Not that one customer matters im sure but i can assure you looking around and hearing my surrounding i am not the only one who is aggravated with such terrible customer service.

This is the last time I go to 2630 Us Highway 92 E, Lakeland store. Let me tell you a thing or to (1) cats are fall apart. (2) employees are not help full but one little black female at cash out, a little blonde at flowers, and some big guy at was nice put thing up. Manage needs go back to school, other employees need to be replaced with new. Ok now you how I feel. Be at this store half the time be at 2900 Lakeland Highlands Rd, Lakeland FL store other half the time. We Start with only last 5 years I be at both 2630 Us Highway 92 E, Lakeland store get 0 points out of 1 to 10. 2900 Lakeland Highlands Rd, Lakeland FL store gets a 10+ out of 1 of 10 (Matt good manager, been shopping at this store and 6902 S Florida Ave. Lakeland fl , or may be mulberry fl 22 years shopping at the two store live between the two all good) 5 years go move between 2630 Us Highway 92 E, Lakeland and 2900 Lakeland Highlands Rd, Lakeland FL tried many time to shop at 2630 Us Highway 92 E. but each time I’m so piss off. Would not p on manager or store to put it out. If I could best close store. And fire manager and 80% of employees. We use this to let you know one thing bread martin’s potato bread. Saturday at 10:00 am went to 2630 Us Highway 92 E. store to pick up this bread. none on self. asked an employee by dairy put thing on self. Do you have any of this bread. Said fast back to me it’s on the self. Can you not see it? I made him show me. He shows me a spot for 3 loafs could go no bread so I ask if he check in the back. He said if not on self. Buy other bread is just bread. I said no I want this bread. So after a little time I got him to go to back room after 30 mins saw me back at dairy put thing on self. I ask again about the bread he said manage said we only get 3 loafs this is a poor neighborhood and we do not carry more than at I need to be here when truck come in or go to another store. Because if I can buy at bread I in wrong store his manage said. I went to front desk. Got told if it about the bread I was already told we do not have go to another store. so that one thing you had watermelon chunks on sale. I did get some. You think it would be cut in small parts no it was not.
I went to publix store it’s between the 2630 Us Highway 92 E, Lakeland and 2900 Lakeland Highlands Rd, Lakeland FL on the bread they had 30 loafs. $0.10 more but I got the two loafs I need, store clean and all employees was nice. Just like your 2900 Lakeland Highlands Rd. (this store is great but far away then 2630 Us Highway 92 E so it cost more to go to it. And publix is only a ½ away from home. 2630 Us Highway 92 E is 1 .5 miles from home and 2900 Lakeland Highlands Rd is 2 miles away. Publix is closer but high then 2900 Lakeland Highlands Rd. but with drive unless it on sale now I go to publix. And well not even if I was dyeing would I go back to 2630 Us Highway 92 E, Lakeland after 5 years of things like I told you about. The store needs to close.

Sorry I’m not happy. And I put a copy of this letter on Facebook to let others know do not shop at this store unless you are poor and unlike been treat like buy something and like it and get out. No care or quality. Like you can get at another store. And to tell them buy anywhere but this store.

I’ve been a loyal employee of Winn-Dixie over a year now, I’ve never had any problems with the stores I’ve worked for nor any problems with other employees…. 5 months ago my family and I were over joyed to know I will be expecting a little baby boy come December. Now being the information freak I am I decided to jump the gun and call the human recourse department to gather information about maternity leave, paperwork, and any thing I would need to know before and after having my bundle of joy. I phoned the center and sat on hold for an HOUR, now I understand high call volumes, but an hour seemed ridiculous to me. I was finally pushed through and spoke to a young man. Once he verified my employment I was able to ask my questions which consisted of “What is the maternity leave policy?” “Is it paid or paid partially?” “How long is the leave?”…. He then replied and said we do not have any maternity leave policies. Now as an expecting mother this is highly irritating. I mean who doesn’t have a maternity leave?? He then continued to say we do not provide paid leave either and if you were to take a leave of absence your job will not be protected. If decided your management can terminate you and your position if need be during your absence. Now as an employee I’m angry. What company would just terminate somebody while on leave? I could understand someone on leave for longer than needed with a bs excuse, but a new mother?? I’m outraged at this point to hear that Winn-Dixie a company whom values their employees so much does NOT offer any type of maternity leave, let alone offer any protection for a new mothers job. I proceeded to ask about any other type of leaves I could ask for and the man replied you could take a short term leave of absence also known as a personal leave ranging between 7-30days. 7-30 days for a new mother to have with her baby?? Hmm interesting and very ridiculous. You could also take a medical leave, but would need to submit x,y,z forms to us here at corporate from your doctors. If you went that route your leave time would be determined based on your doctors notes. However, neither of these are paid either. Now as an expecting mother, employee, and human being I feel very disrespected and flat out disgusted that a company could offer no job protection, no compensation for a loyal employee, and NO MATERNITY LEAVE! This is outrageous that I could work for a company for so long and have no problems, but now that a major life event is happening, I’m being told I have no compensation, no protection, and no say in the matter. Winn-Dixies policies for part-time employees are down right jokes compared to other companies. My sister just had her baby and works the same position with the same pay I do at target(she’s only been there half the time as well). They offer a 2 month PAID IN FULL maternity leave and anybody on maternity leave can request a reasonable bonding extension of 1-2 months at 75% their pay rate!! I am beside myself at how Winn-Dixie could say they value their employees and want to work with us on all our needs YET OFFER NO ACTUAL HELP. The fact of the matter is if someone doesn’t work as a full time employee they get basically nothing from the company. As a side note in the over a year I’ve worked for Winn-Dixie I have never told my stores no. I’m a trained employee in EVERY DEPARTMENT except meat, seafood, and cash office. You would think being such a valuable asset to a company I would have a little bit better of an understanding from them, but as you read above myself nor anybody else has a standing chance when life events happen. My now magical moment of bringing my first born child into this world has become exceedingly stressful knowing that if I want to keep my job I will have to sacrifice VALUABLE, NECESSARY, and MEDICALY PROVEN bonding time, recovering time, and mental stability time for my child and myself. This is an absolute outrage not just as an employee, but as a n expecting mother!

I’ve never seen the class of disrespect these store managers do anywhere else. My wife shopped at the Winn Dixie store 2507 a year ago, and let me tell you we just had a Baby at the time. My wife was at the check out lane and had gotten items that where posted on the WIC catalog for purchase, so when she was getting checked out most of the things she got where not ringing up as WIC . So confused like any other customer would, she asked the cashier if she has any knowledge as to why this was happening , and the cashier got assistance from the customer service manager. So now the customer service manager named Judy began getting frustrated at the situation and was being completely rude to my wife , so then the assistant store manager came over to help, and she couldn’t understand either was going on. So now two frustrated managers and a cashier had no idea how to do their jobs looked at my wife as if she was dumb. Judy the customer service manager was apparently supposed to go on break , and she made a comment oh now I can’t eat my sandwich because of this hold up. Really? After shopping there rigorously we’ve never spent another dime there. Publix down the street makes shopping every time a pleasure. When my wife left the store she was so embarrassed , and cried the whole way home. Let me tell you I was at work and if I where there I would have went off the walls. Never will we shop there again and that’s a promise.

I am writing to complain about the treatment of a Handicapped employee working for the Winn-Dixie in Sun Citiy Center. The management has been trying to get the person to quit now for almost 3 years. They keep cutting that persons hours,11 hours last week, in order to get her to try and quit. She has worked for them for many years, at least 10. I think if this employee was really doing something wrong, they would have fired that person. They are just trying to get that person to quit because that person has been there so long and might be making a little bit more money because that person has worked there so long. They just want that person to quit so Winn-Dixie would not have to pay him/her unemployment. There is no reason why any corporation, big or small, should treat any employee like this. Especially a handicapped person that has work loyally for them for years. What do you think?

Joshua Galle July 23, 2016 at 2:26 pm

I was recently terminated for job abandonment. Before I was let go another employee walked out. When I asked my supervisor, Keith Anderson, If I could pick up the extra hours, he said we can certainly work that out. The following week my center store manager, Azure Enriquez scheduled me for only 11 hours. I asked Keith why, but he didnt have an answer at the time and said we would discuss it later. I took my lunch break and witnessed him leaving. I became disgruntled because when they ask me to do something or need to work in an area to cover shifts, I always comply without question. This time I left. So now im here to speak out against the favoritism that is shown from management. I did leave early that day but returned to work the next day with the problem behind me. This was on 7/20/16. When I return on saturday (7/23/16) is when I was terminated. I have not received a warning in any way, shape or form. I have worked here for 10 years at the Biloxi, MS store (1357). I had a simple request to look into my schedule and was ignored. Keith did say we would talk about it on friday (7/22/16) but this would be when the current schedule was active. I thought job abandonment was no call/no show after 3 days. I feel like I was ran off to make room for their favorites. Azure has a close friend that works with her, Tina. Azure also had another favorite that walked out named steven. For a while tina was in charge of dairy but never promoted to lead. Tina is complacent with doing bare minimum yet she gets all the benefits because of azure. I think these conflicts of interest should be looked into.

I received a post on Facebook that said to click for the short survey, repost with words, “Thanks for my Voucher!” and send to 15 others for your $200 voucher to Winn Dixie. I never got it and it lied and said I did not complete the steps when I not only sent to 15 but 20 more of my friends!!!!! They all said they received it. I take care of Developmentally Disabled Adults and we always do our shopping at Winn Dixie.. to the tune of $500 – $700 per month between them all… that will stop and you will lose that money if you do not keep your promise and send me the PROMISED $200 VOUCHER…. NOT KIDDING! One thing I HATE IS DISHONESTY!

Sandra December 5, 2016 at 4:30 pm

Well, then you are pretty dumb to ACTUALLY believe that something on FaceBook saying if you forwarded it to 15 people would get you a $200.00 gift card to a store. How do you remember to breathe??? Jeeze people are STUPID!!!

Good afternoon,

I am writing to reach out to the District Manager to this store I have a complaint about. I believe this incident should be addressed. I called this store 6x today on my lunch break trying to reach out to the Meat Department. After the first 3 attempts of constant ringing with no answer I decided to call Customer Support so that they may page that Department so that I may speak to them. I got placed on hold 2x for an unreasonable amount of time and decided to call again for the 6th time with regards to speaking with a manager. I again was placed on hold and never got through to a manager. I was simply trying to speak with the butcher to ask if flank steak was available today so that I may place a large order for pickup. I will continue to shop at Winn Dixie as I am a satisfied customer, however, I believe this feedback would improve the level of customer service at this location:

I am fit to be tied with The Winn-Dixie Corporation. I work at the Winn-Dixie located at 17221 N.W. 27th avenue, Miami Gardens, Fl, store #246. My store director is actively creating a hostile workplace for me and is also retaliating against me for reporting what he is doing. I had a personal dispute with another employee who is in an upper management position, and she in turn went back to the job and told the director about our dispute. Ever since she spoke with him about our dispute, the director has been talking negatively to me and about me to my co-workers. Because of the negativity coming from the director my co-workers started to shun me and treat me differently. I have been reduced to less than part time hours after I made the first call to HR, and now the management only gives me 1 or 2 days a week 5-6 hours a day to work when I was originally a full time associate. The scheduler will make out a schedule for the week and then change the days, times, or both after I have left the store without informing me, then he will attempt to accuse me of being a no-call, no-show. I have been loyal to this company for the last 16 years. I have always been on time for work; and I have not called out unless it was an absolute emergency. And this is the way that they treat me….they retaliate against me for not accepting abuse. I was assured by management when I came to work for this company that they would not tolerate harassment in the workplace nor would retaliation be allowed…but that seems to be a device that they used to placate me and pacify me to keep me from complaining. I have attempted to resolve this issue with my store, my director and within the Winn-Dixie corporation, but all I’ve seem to do is invite them to harass and defame me more and more. I want justice! I want to see the people responsible for these egregious acts punished.I want them to cease with the assassination of my character. And I want them to cease from being disruptive to my livelihood. This is not how one treats a 16 year loyal employee. This is ridiculous. I am hoping that after all that I have been through to get this issue resolved that this e-mail finally gets someones attention and gets me the help with this issue that I so desperately need!

I have been subjected to a hostile work environment and I have been discriminated against because of my age. My boss has essentially replaced me with a younger worker by significantly cutting my hours. My boss refuses to acknowledge me and nor does he state why my hours have been cut. The worker who has replaced me has been harassing me by going behind me and undoing my work. This causes the boss to believe that my work is bad. In reference to me and the shelves being in disarray another employee said, “Some Haitian lady stacked the shelf wrong”. I hope that this company will take my complaints seriously and issue a follow up.

Best Regards,

I just left Winn-Dixie at 50 Blue Angel, Pensacola, Fl. on 6/30/16 @ 9:15pm and had the worst customer service. The customers are never right and this was my experience. I was with my mom from out of town and I saw a great deal. Ribs two for $3.99 and $3.25 for baby back ribs with a Winn-Dixie card, which I have so I asked my mother if I saw this correctly. She agreed that the sign stated the above prices. An employee agreed that I was right also but it wasn’t her department and stated that she would get the manager. Well, the manager (Jason) came with a black sharpie and started changing Corporate sign and here is the proof in the pictures below. I was right but Winn-Dixie never honor store advertised prices when it’s wrong for corporate. As I proceed to the checkout, Jason, the store manager, again was at the checkout with another customer going back and forth about prices of juice and cheese and told the customer the she need to strain her eyes to see the prices. My question is Jason why do we need to strain our eyes to look for a price when the big sign clearly states it. Also Jason, why are you in this picture adding lb. to signs from corporate? Look at the $3.25 tell me America do you see per lb. on there because I don’t.

I use to shop at the Winn Dixie Store in Covington, La. on hwy 25. We have a new Winn Dixie on Hwy 21 and it is beautiful. I am sad to say as well as many many others and would like to see the store located on hwy 25 have a makeover. It is in great need for a huge makeover inside and out. Please Please Please help this store. Not that it is outdated but the most important part is the produce is discusting and would make you sick. It looks as it had been there for weeks on out. I went in the other day with my husband and the bread on a display table in the deli area had mole on the bread and it was on every pack.
I am with many others would like to see Winn Dixie invest in this store and make it a go.It would be nice if there was more products to select from .

Please make our town store beautiful again.

Your customers from Covington, La.

On April 18 at 6:30 I had to go to the Ridge Manor Fl drugstore to pick up the norco prescribed to me by my Dr. the same Dr I’ve been going to for almost 10Yrs. Anyway my family and I have been going to the Winn Dixie in Ridge Manor Fl for over 15 yrs. Love them all, very helpful and just great people. We moved to Spring Hill Fl (35) miles away 6 mths ago. I was allowed to transfer the gabapentin over but not the norco. I was told they are only for her patients/customers?? When I went to the Ridge Manor drugstore tonightvand told Harry the pharmacist what Ive been told he said no, not possible. So I told him you call and find out for yourself (352-686-XXXXX) literally he was on hold for 7 to 8 minutes. When he told the pharmacist how many yrs my family ans I’ve been going to the Winn Dixie in Ridge Manor and why was it that I could get my nerve meds from her (spring hill) but not the other, that its not right that I must drive 70 miles round trip. She told him the same thing?? That the Norco is for (Her) patients/customers only. To which he replied, she is one of the customers there, you’ve been filling her gabapentin for mths. To which she replied, I told you there for MY csts/patients only! And hung up. He then apologized for her actions and said i’m sorry I don’t know what else to do. I said that’s okay, I do. I then stopped by CVS then Walgreens not telling either what had happened and posed the question to both. Is it legal to (HOLD) medication for your csts/patients?? And both told me, it’s against the law. So in the morning I’ll be calling the corporate number, narcotics/vice in Hernando cty, the. BBB and the of course DEA.

I worked at store 0080 in Jacksonville Florida. The Store manager, “Junior” Khan, was very rude and spoke down to all his employees, except for his golden children that could do no wrong. He made some associates cry and his remorse was short lived. He is a bully who seems to think his position warrants behaving like he is a drill sergeant, yet there is no basic training underway. He makes the majority of his associates feel unwanted and seems to delight in making them feel like they are worthless. The way a person is trained in this store is that once you mess up, you get yelled at, however, you were never properly trained in the proper way of executing what you made the mistake on. Team Leads make less than cashiers, based on the increase in minimum wage that occurred after the Team Lead was hired. It was such a bad environment to work in, I just left. The store could really use better management, if they want to keep people working there.

cindy March 6, 2016 at 3:28 am

Hi..i have been contacting them for a Year now! I worked in Crystal River & in feb last yr my check was stolen & cashed!! I signed a swarn affidavit in july to have the person prosecuted when. They are found & caught…cashed it & apparently deposited into a acct with the bank!! Winn dixie headquarters still dont know what is happening with the investigation & i still do not have a reimbursed check over a yr later!!!!!!!

Donna April 11, 2016 at 12:06 pm

I have the same type of manager in my store 2330, Palm Bay Florida. Joe was out for about a month and the store was peaceful, everybody was treated equally and we employees were much happier. Now that he is back, his favourite employees/departments get the hours, he blames other employees for mistakes his favourites make, comes down on our bakery manager for clearly ridiculous reasons and will only reprimand certain people. People are afraid to say anything because they do not want to lose their jobs. It’s becoming worse than Wal-Mart.

Thomas Steeg February 2, 2016 at 5:01 pm

I will Never buy at winn-dixie again. Zero help, I forget my reading glasses and the check out girl wants 2 complain I’m not doing it right, it’s easier to type in numbers? it’s Much easier if you have a freakin BAR CODE for the price, like everything else! Then goes on 2 XXXXXX & complain, when all she has to do is punch in what she SHOULD have memorized! Bad as walfart!

Dp February 9, 2016 at 12:52 pm

I know I called to find out if they have buy one get one free spinach I was put on hold but disconnected called back and asked again then hung up on called back she said where was I to know do you have yeah we have it do you have a buy one get one free just a minute put me on hold came back said yes we do I said are you sure does anybody in that store know what you’re talking about when I got there and I told the manager because he just happened to be where I was because you are desk is very busy how about an apology no professional courtesy before I ask about something she wasn’t sure the manager was standing right there and just kept on talking to somebody until I had to ask him and then he pointed I said what do you think you can show me I don’t know who trains these people but I’ve been in management and Customer Service on my life and they are lousy

Dp February 9, 2016 at 12:57 pm

By the way this would be Avenue B and Edgewood location they are so unfriendly and very rude and unhelpful there maybe it’s a racial thing I don’t know(I’m WHITE-NO ISSUES! )

Patricia Molinar January 23, 2016 at 4:56 pm

My son picked up fried chicken and chicken tenders from Green Cove Springs, Fl location last night. I was eating the first chicken tender when I came across a half inch length of metal scrub pad. I called and was told to just bring the other tenders back and they would reimburse me. REALLY?! That’s the response I’ve gotten on another occasion when they had sat in the heating pan too long and were inedible. This was METAL that was in my food. I would think there would be a little more concern that “oh, just bring it in and we’ll reimburse you”. I’ve been shopping at this location since we moved in 5 years ago. Do I really need to consider traveling a little further to Publix now?

Steven Amigo March 15, 2016 at 3:11 am

what the f**k is publix going to do? its the same sh*t. ive worked at both, and they both have the same handling practices. i hate it too, but for you folks who talk about going to publix rather than winn dixie, it’s the same handling, the same stuff. the only thing we dont do at winn dixie is completely reimburse you because something rang up wrong, or give you the whole thing free because you it rang up wrong. publix seems to be like disney with that sh*t, but the only people who really complain, are split shoppers anyway, who just want to claim they will shop at publix from now on, but come back when the sales are right. f-ing grocery store c*nts are the worst. go f-yourself.

Lisa T January 22, 2016 at 5:13 pm

I will leave a comment but I doubt if upper management cares due to the fact that it doesnt pertain to them. I worked for winn dixie for many of years in the corporate office and on 10/1/2015 while sitting at my desk an email was sent out to within headquarters out of the blue stating there is a meeting 9:30am and dont be late. The good news is, we all followed command but the bad news is, they FIRED all of us in the meeting and told us that winn dixie was cutting cost every where they could and the people that are sitting in this room will NOT be going forward during this re-organization. We were ESCORTED to our desk like we were CRIMINALS to pack up our belongings then had to be escorted downstairs where the POLICE was waiting in case some one wanted to act a fool. That was low down dirty nasty to have done that to HARD working people who dedicated their time and energy for years only to be tossed out like XXXXX! Winn Dixie went across country to hire a FOREIGNER from AUSTRALIA that needed a GREEN CARD to get rid of their own hardworking people. No one was given the opportunity to apply within the company that day. This affected people in so many ways. People are reaching out to agencies for help only to be told no and or turned away. People are losing their cars and houses, no medical insurance to attend the hospital to treat their illnesses, no food to eat, kids cant afford to play activities in school because of the parents not having a job, people are pawning their valuables to put food on the table while the CEO and the staff that he brought over with him are living the AMERICAN DREAM while the we are still struggling to find a job to keep from losing there sanity. From the CEO and everyone that had a hand in releasing all 250 of us on 10/1/2015 with no heart or care in their souls i pray that GOD have mercy on you when the tables start turning. Always remember that only the ‘strong will survive’ and what goes up will come down.

I would like to know why Win Dixie stop giving senior citizen discount on Wednesday?
I just found out last Wednesday, I usually buy more on Wednesday’s to get the discount
I know others are disappointed also.

Michael cooper March 12, 2016 at 5:03 am

I’ve been here 15-18 yrs. Still they give new people more hours than me, it sucks, something needs to be done.

rosemarie June 13, 2016 at 5:21 pm

I’ve been working for Winn-Dixie since 1999 and I’ve never known Winn-Dixie to give senior citizen discounts.

Michael cooper January 19, 2016 at 4:32 am

I’ve been at winn Dixie 15-16 yrs. Still feel disrespected more than ever. I’m tired of when they change my schedule without telling me, like switching me to day hours when I spend most of my time on nights. If they ASK I’d of coarse say no!!!.

Hazel Booth December 29, 2015 at 10:07 am

I worked at Winn Dixie and let me tell you something! I was the worst experience of my life trying to make a living. The associates were all ignorant, don’t know their products, and especially the nastiest smelling creatures you would ever be around. The management has no control of the store, roaches running about, molded inventory and thieves like you’ve never seen.

ron dionne December 6, 2015 at 1:36 pm

I have just recently ended my employment at this store, and thankfully so. I dreaded work everyday and hated every second of being there and no other reason than the management was atrocious. I have never seen such lazy workers, and rude. I have never seen so many rude comments about customers after they walk out the doors. My manager, Kaylie Stephens was the most immature. I have been called “b*tch”, “stupid b*tch”, “wh**e”, “dumb a**” and ETC. I never retaliated because of fear of nothing happening but my time there be even worse. Any complaints received by Joel White would not be taken seriously nor into consideration. By both customers and employees. The hours were terrible. I was working 2-3 days a week, after publix opening up in our town it seemed they didn’t care to lose employees. The needs or requests of employees were never considered. If you asked for days off, your hours would be cut because Kaylie didn’t like people who asked for days off EVEN if they requested in extreme advance. Kaylie told me to my face that she has favorites. She gave an awful reference of one person who works there to a job as an intern that she needed and was going to do the internship while working at Winn Dixie. I hated working there and I’m sorry to say that my experience has made me hate the chain of Bi-Lo’s southeastern grocers and there will be no good review from me, only discourage to not shop there. and 5% discount? people have worked there for 20+ years who don’t even have it set up because it’s not worth it. Your employees deserve much more. My advice to you is to clean out the management and put people in place that take the business seriously and care about the store.

Mr. Bill November 14, 2015 at 4:58 pm

I go to Winn-Dixie on US Highway 301 on a regular basis and their floors are always dirty. One manager at the Winn-Dixie I go to even uses profanity to put down his employees. I heard him one time yelling at his employee and they were behind office doors. I love Winn-Dixie, but they are need of good managers. He refers to his employees as his people since when do own people, has slavery came back. The employees are really nice minus management.

I live in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida and shop at the Winn Dixie Store on Hwy. A1A. Recently I was there with my 18 month old grandson. I had bought him a balloon at the Dollar Tree store next door earlier. When I was done shopping I had to go to the service desk to get a Lottery ticket, and on my way there a hanging sign with a sharp corner punctured the balloon. As you can imagine my grandson was very upset. The manager, named Ricky, was right there and saw what had happened. He offered to get another balloon for him but I said I didn’t buy it there, but he insisted . This was so nice of him and really meant a lot to my grandson! Ricky is a very nice person and manages the store very well. I just wanted to let corpoate know that they have a quality guy in charge there and wanted him to be rewarded for his efforts.

My husband and shop at winn Dixie on hwy98 in Hattiesburg,Ms at less three times a week because we like fresh fish. But for some reason they never have anyone working in the seafood department so we have to wait five sometimes ten minutes just to get service. Something should be done about this! Upset customers…

I worked at a store in Gainesville Florida. Store managers are rude, they talk bad about other associates, they are bullies and they discriminate against women. It frowned upon for associates to take lunch breaks. They watch you on the cameras and they listen to your conversations with other associates on the phones in the department. The management at the location makes you feel very unwanted and makes you feel like you are worthless. They also have double standards when holding associates accountable. This is a very bad environment to work in. This store needs new management asap.

Zach Munger September 24, 2015 at 12:41 pm

I work at store #640 in Dunedin fl, and I’ve been working their for 2 years in the meat and seafood department, and I have yet to get a raise. I’m getting paid about the same as a bagger is, I’d like to let you know this is ridiculous and I also looked at other companies pay for meat clerks and the average pay is about 10.00 an hour. Stop being cheap and pay your associates the fair amount they should be getting paid. I work my tail off for this company and could be making more money flipping burgers at McDonalds. Change your ways for now and for long term.

I was in the Winn Dixie store in Chiefland , Florida tonight and witnessed customer service at its finest. This is store 0168. There was an elderly lady riding on an electric cart . She seemed to be having trouble manuvering it and ending up breaking her wooden walking stick that she deffinatly needed to walk with. She wedged it between a post and the mobile device she was using that belonged to Winn Dixie. That’s when your employee Austin Williams jumped into action. He ran directly to your customer and asked was she ok ? She was very upset because she said she needed this cane to be mobile and was in tears. This young man told her please don’t cry , I have several canes in the back that have been here a long time and no one has claimed them. He went to the back and got 3 of them. She picked one out and She cried and thanked him and all of us checking out had a large feel good look on our face. This is because your employee went above and beyond to comfort this poor woman in her moment of distress. Some people including AUSTIN WILLIAMS AT STORE 0168 thinks it’s no big deal. I on the other hand think very differently. I think this young man needs to be recognized for his valiant efforts to help the handicapped elderly. Signed a very proud Winn Dixie shopper. I want to know what happens with this. My name is Michael Caves and my cell is 386-466-****. Thank You Winn Dixie !!!!

Cynthia Kanaszka September 21, 2015 at 7:42 pm

I am writing in support of my daughter who is a 22 yr old adult with disabilities. She is ADHD (like many ), but she also has 2 forms of dyslexia. She will never go to college.

She has worked for Winn Dixie in Port Charlotte, FL at store #736 for 4 years. Throughout those 4 years she has repetitively asked for more hours and , a full time position when available. I know that she has discussed Full time employment at least once with the manager of the store, multiple times with her immediate supervisor and I have even spoken to mid-level management about increasing her hours. This summer 2 FT positions opened up for which she applied and people who had been with the company far less than her received the job (one had only been at W-D a few months).

Liz has been a good employee in the deli at this store and can do everything in the department. She even had to close the hot side and cold side of the deli by herself one night with only the help of a trainee due to call -ins.

I will quote the American Disabilities Act for you:
“ADA Title I: Employment

Title I requires employers with 15 or more employees to provide qualified individuals with disabilities an equal opportunity to benefit from the full range of employment-related opportunities available to others. For example, it prohibits discrimination in recruitment, hiring, promotions, training, pay, social activities, and other privileges of employment. It restricts questions that can be asked about an applicant’s disability before a job offer is made, and it requires that employers make reasonable accommodation to the known physical or mental limitations of otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities, unless it results in undue hardship. Religious entities with 15 or more employees are covered under title I.”

I spoke to the manager of the store this morning who told me that Liz was not discriminated against, but the way I read this, it is more than just being discriminated against. She has to be offered equivalent employment I have the doXXXXentation for her disabilities. My daughter’s name is Elizabeth Kanaszka, and she has worked at the Port Charlotte, Fl store#736 for 4 yrs.

I would appreciate some consideration for her. I am seriously concerned about a company that does not give the long term employees a chance to excel. She has seen a revolving door of co-workers at this store.

I’m a part time employee at Winn Dixie. I was told by my scheduling manager I wasn’t allowed to request 12/24-12/25 off due to holiday “rules” as a part timer I’m very sure I’m aloud to request off holidays especially 4 months before the holiday itselfs. What can be done about this?!?

nye September 16, 2015 at 5:11 pm

Store #0226 has roaches, outdated food on shelves and spoiled meat!!! The store is old and outdated and needs to be shut down!!! I will be contacting the health department in reference to these matters. I am currently an employee at this location and i purchased hamburger meat that was spoiled and it caused me to be sick for 3 days. They don’t give you enough hours to even pay your phone bill i think this company sucks!!!

I am so tired of the poor, innaccurate, slow service at the Winn DIxie is south Picyaune, MS. The cashiers are nice but the multitple issues I always encounter at this store have unfortunately made it difficult if not impossible for me to patronize it. Customer service is poor and the managers do not seem to know anything about service recovery when problems arise with transactions. The customer does not feel appreciated or valued.

I shop in Jefferson parish Winn Dixie grocery stores. I have shopped at Winn Dixie with my mother when we moved to eastern New Orleans in 1958… , 57 years. I still love Winn Dixie but have for the first time felt a need to register a complaint.
I’m not sure who is person choosing the music being broadcast over head in the stores I presently shop in, but could there be some other selections that are more relaxing. I stopped going to the store at 2104 Williams Blvd Kenner, and go the extra miles to the Airline Drive store. Sadly it’s the same sounds ( hard to call it music)… I don’t casually shop anymore, I make a list a get out quickly as possible.
Can this situation be addressed ? Thank you in advance for a way to register my opining.

Not sure if this will help me any buts it’s worth a shot… I am an employee at the Winn Dixie in phenix city (#433). I’ve been there for almost a year and am now working the service desk. There is a particular bagger that also works at this store who has given me multiple problems and I am absolutely fed up. I’ve talked to the managers and it’s seems nothing has been done or will be done. They give this particular bagger “a talk” but that of course isn’t doing anything. Just today this bagger decides to trip me (no I didn’t fall, but defiantly could have) and that was my breaking point. I would be here all night if I were to write everything that he’s done not only to me but others. I am absolutely fed up with it and I don’t believe I should have to have him ruining my day at work every time I am scheduled with him.

robbin Daniels July 18, 2015 at 11:33 pm

I was banned from the wetumpka al store by mr. Hodges because I complained to much on one of employees for following me around after she said I stole something which I didn’t. When I called they said they would go over hodges instead only went to him . So one day after enough I said something to her and then he said never to come back in his store since he couldn’t please me. He never said anything to the employee

I have worked in the customer service industry for over twenty years and the way we were treated was unacceptable,Please! take care of this issue.CUSTOMER SERVICE in any Business Is NO# One

Creig Roberts June 8, 2015 at 2:32 pm

I am impressed. Your company doesn’t require background checks of people you hire?? Your new employee, Douglas Wagner at your Anniston store was fired from our company, loves travel stop for sexually harassing his employees. There is video proof for these accusations. You may contact me at 740-506-****
Or the corporate office at 1-800-ok-loves

Creig Roberts June 8, 2015 at 5:06 pm

When calling the corporate office, you may ask for Marsha Williams.
This is my best effort at saving another company the troubles we’ve gone through. It is also my understanding that his previous employer Five Below, also terminated Mr. Wagner after speaking with our corporate headquarters.

cindy August 3, 2016 at 8:59 am

why didnt your company press charges if you have proof, thus putting it on his record? instead of just following him around and telling other companies to be the bad guys and fire him?

cindy August 3, 2016 at 9:01 am

YOUR company hired him….right? didn’t YOU do a check?

I shop at Winn-Dixie #2342 located at 3120 N WOODLAND BLVD. DELAND, FL 32720 only when necessary. It is closer to my home than Publix. With todays competitive prices companies need to do all they can to gain and retain customers. Saving money is very important to me. However, customer service is just as important. The service counter has some of the most unfriendly, rude and unhappy employees I’ve ever encountered. I try to avoid checking out there and use them only when I buy a lotto ticket or have a smaill order. I am made to feel I’m an interuption. There is an employee that works the service counter that is of Indian heritage. She’s been working at that Winn Dixe for a long time. She is very rude and unpersonable. She does not acknowledge the customer or say thank you. I have found that to be true with all of your employees that work the service counter. I realize working in customer service is not easy. Especially if you don’t like your job, which most appear to feel that way. However, it’s up to management to notice the aditude of their staff, and make it mandatory to give their customer a good experience and want to shop at that store. After making a purchase there this morning without being acknowledged or thanked, I’ve decided I would rather make the drive to Publix.

Dear Sir/ Madam:
I am deeply distressed that after forcing Dollar Tree to reduce the size of their food section, you are still not satisfied and are requiring that they eliminate their food section totally.
Your greed and lack of concern for those on fixed incomes or unemployed is disgraceful. Many people depend on the Dollar Tree’s low food prices for survival.
Eliminating food at Dollar Stores will not improve your business because people on low or fixed incomes cannot afford your prices (to say nothing of your lack of selection.) However, I am sure that WALMART will thank you for increasing their business.
The food pantries in our county are overburdened, and this will just place a heavier responsibility on them making it harder for them to meet the needs of the community.
I personally prefer to frequent businesses that treat my community members with respect and dignity. Therefore, I will not be frequenting your stores.

It nice for me to receive my money now because it has been so long from 1999 to now 2015. Please send my compensation to my own Bank Account, and take it back from your employees who had stole my money from Union Bank to Wells Forgo Bank.

Memunatu Tejan-Cole May 20, 2015 at 11:23 pm

I was an employee at Winn Dixie Store and I was one of the employee who won the class settlement from this store, and I found out that other people had claim my compensation without my permission. I do not receive my money from Winn Dixie , and I was told to contact the store about it. Please contact me about it because things are going out of control. I want my own fund and I want to invest it from Union Bank to Wells Forgo Bank. I am at Raleigh, North Carolina.

dear sir:
on sunday 5/17/2015 I went to the Winn-Dixie store in high springs . when I went through check out I wrote a check for 69.65 . the clerk said there was something wrong and called the manager. I believe her name was Jennifer. she informed me that I had
a new checking account and that I could only write two checks for the week.
I had to change banks because td closed in fort white. I have been shopping with you
for 25 yrs. this was embarrassing and uncalled for. the two checks I wrote earlier in the week had been cleared at the bank . I was not trying to write a bad check as the manager
inferred. I will not be a patron of Winn-Dixie grocery stores any longer. I know that will
not affect your bottom line . just want you to know that I am very displeased with the way this was handled.

Winn Dixie Store #0272, the store in my neighborhood, has the best fresh roasted turkey breast. Roasted in store, minus all the additives of commercial turkey breasts. I buy it at least once a week……it is delicious. Coupled with the Winn-Lovett baguette, a better sandwhich you cannot find. So why am I writing……….There are numerous times the turkey breast and/or bread is unavailable. Suprising that such popular and wonderful products have not been roasted in the deli or baked in the bakery. On Tuesday past, I went to the deli to order turkey. None was in the case. Asking the deli clerk, she informed me that they just went into the oven. It was 4:00 in the afternoon. So I came back the next day, my favorite turkey breast was in the case waiting to be sliced. As my order was being completed, I walked over to the bakery section… guessed it… bread. I have talked to many store managers over the years about this problem. But of course they come and go as do the employees. The good ones never stay around as they are moved to other stores. As I read the other comments on this site, I realize it is hopeless. Winn-Dixie’s parent company simply doesnt care. What a shame…….Our store is located in an affluent area, ample parking and a convenient size. What a gold mine it would be if updated to modern grocery standards. Or at best managed at a level above C-,

I was attempting to pick up Tums by the drugstore a winn dixie associate was sitting on a milk crate blocking the area. I waited patiently for her to move over so I could get the Tums but she wouldn’t move. To make it worse she made eye contact with me looked away and continued to organize the shelf sitting on a milk crate in the middle of the aisle. Very disappointing visit store 0664

Kelley July 29, 2015 at 11:59 am

” I waited patiently for her to move”

How about instead of her trying to read your mind, you simply say, “Excuse me”, and have a polite conversation explaining that you would like to get to the Tums???

Why is it always about me, me, me these days, like no one else matters.

HJB March 30, 2015 at 8:24 pm

I worked for six or seven days over a two week period in November of 2014 at store #290 in Ft Lauderdale, FL I voluntarily quit and never received my last- and only paycheck. Since then, I have called the store directly, emailed the online help desk, filed a compliance complaint with (the Winn Dixie third party “ethics” line) and spoken to an Winn Dixie Human Resources representative who promised the check would be mailed – now it is March 30th – some 4 months have elapsed -and I still have not received my pay.I did receive a W-2 for the wages -so I will be taxed on the income Winn Dixie has denied me. Winn Dixie acknowledges I earned the money -and refuses to simply put a stamp on an envelope and mail my check – they also have my direct deposit information and consent – but have not paid me. This is by definition of Florida statutes wage theft. My last recourse is Small Claims court , since Florida no longer has a Department of Labor. Needless to say; I’ll never shop there again.

I was in the Riverview FL store on 301 when I had a horrible experience first with a customer then with a manger named Lisa. I left my dog in my vehicle for less than 15 minutes when the customer service desk had me paged about a customer complaining about the dog in my truck. It was 59 degrees outside and my dog (whom I love dearly) was in NO danger. The store handled the entire situation poorly hence I will never return. A manager named Matt apologized to me which I appreciate greatly. Never-the-less, I will not return to this store and I hope Winn Dixie goes out of business. Lisa informed me that it was a police matter (which is not true). The customer accosted me in front of others and the store allowed it to happen. I know and talk to a lot of people and will tell others not to shop there either. Clearly I and my dog are not welcome anywhere near your lousy establishment.

jim April 29, 2018 at 1:32 pm

I would have smashed your window and removed the dog.

Not Surprised January 20, 2015 at 5:31 pm

Winn-Dixie store at US 1 & Woolbright road in Boynton Beach is officially CLOSED.

If Winn-Dixie isn’t going to take their business serious and hire competent employees and managers, update the stores, which look like they’re still in the 70’s – and make AN EFFORT then it’s about time to pull out of South Florida, Anthea. Tell Brian to look at the numbers… again.

Last night I went in to your store on 92nd and combee in lakeland fl to fill prescription. I had just been discharged from hospital after 5 day stay with heart attack. Came in at around 7:30 turned in scripts and told her i would be waiting for them need for the night. She filled the script. And left locking them in drugstore. All the empolyees around said not we can do you will just have to come back tomorrow…… asked to see manager was ask why he cant get in their either. When manager on duty came up appologized and said nothing I can do about it my daughter asked him to call and ask her to come back he said no she wont come back. He suggested going over to walgreens to get them…….your pharmacist wrote on my paperwork filled so I couldnt even do this…..beyond upset with this will be perusing this much farther.

Yesterday when I shopped at my local Winn-Dixie in Apopka that a corporate decision to discontinue carrying Starbucks Discoveries at this store has been made, and that I might find it at another store. I’ve been shopping at this store because they do carry this product. STARBUCKS DISCOVERIES isn’t just a good product but an excellent one. I’m hoping and requesting that you revisit and reconsider this decision
Hoping that customer opinion is of value to Winn-Dixie. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Sincerely Shelby Thompson.

I’ve been employed with Winn Dixie 4 months I’ve already been promoted to office. Well I came into work Wednesday as usual to close the store an before my shift I was basically accused of stealing money. So She demoted me by taking me out of the office an putting me in seafood. An she’s hiring someone to investigate it an I was advised this person would be talking with me also. All this after advising another manager of a conflict between me an another associate the week before. That manager telling me I’m afraid of this person an I’m just scared. Yet took no effort of resolving the issue.

Cam February 20, 2015 at 1:37 pm

Are you still employed with them

Jazzmyn Francis November 26, 2014 at 4:26 pm

So they basically told me that they can fire me for any reason if they have someone else in mind for the position.

Jazzmyn Francis November 26, 2014 at 4:18 pm

So today I lost my job for having house slippers on while being off the clock and not scheduled to work. Amazing right? Yeah I know.

I just wanted to let you know about the amazing experience we had at Winn Dixie store #2484!! I work at Spring Hill Elementary and I contacted Elaine to hold a Winn Dixie Math Night for our students. I had never organized this event and Elaine had never done one either. Elaine and John did an amazing job with the help of your outstanding staff!! After a little hiccup in the plan, they pulled together the most amazing night for our school. They provided dinner, dessert boxes, and gift bags for our families. They were professional but more importantly friendly and accommodating!! They went out of their way to make this the most amazing experience for our students. The feedback we received from the students and their parents was outstanding. You are so lucky to have these amazing people working for your company. I can’t thank them enough for making this evening a wonderful success!! Thank you for giving the students in our community the opportunity to learn math in a real-world setting!!!

We truly need God and Jesus Christ in the USA now more than ever!

But…I want to tell you how much I love my Winn-Dixie store in Plantation, FL on Broward Blvd. That store is great. They have lots of Buy-one-get-one-free sales.

Their bakery, cakes, breads, pastries are yummy!! Their deli has the best hot food including delicious meatloaf, ribs, all kinds of chicken wings, pulled pork, oven roasted turkey and great cold cuts too!! The guy that cooks that stuff should be a chef!!

They always have sales in the produce department and their whole bean coffee is great too.

The store is clean, but if there is something a little dirty, I can tell one of the guys and suggest what to clean or disinfect with. They always say thank you!

So, God bless you WINN-DIXIE and may God always give you kind employees, managers, customers, great food, good prices, wisdom, creativity, financial blessings, a giving heart to help others, love and great health too in Jesus’ Name!!

Don’t give up!! You can still be the best and give the praise to GOD who helps you.

I was very sad to see Sweetbay sell out to Winn Dixie in the Villages, Fl. I decided to give them a chance, but there chances are running out. I have had to take food back that was bad In the produce section. Bag my own groceries, skip things I want in an isle I couldn’t get to because they were stocking the shelves or redoing them. Today I made a complaint to the manager Kim, because I had to ask for 4 things that were not on the shelves at 10:30 a.m. in the produce department. Then I went to go down the organic food isle and it was blocked by 3 people working on moving things around. Not one of the asked if there was anything in the Isle I wanted. Those truck should come in early enough so the employee’s can stock the shelves before the customers come in. I talk to 3 employee’s and they are unhappy with having to stock the shelves in front of customers. I also have talk to a lot of people and they are upset with the situation there at the Villages store. I feel you need to some changes soon or you are going to loose a lot of business. I like being able to shop a store close my home, however if things don’t change at this store. I will have to go elsewhere.

I have sent this message at least five times to their headquarters and no reply as of yet. I did add the last sentence today.

Boycott Winn-Dixie drugstore on 34th Street North in saint Petersburg Florida 33713

I am going to Boycott Winn-Dixie drugstore on 34th Street North!! Rich the pharmacist was working Thursday(10/16/2014) has a “King/God complex.
A kidney dialysis patient that recently had surgery on his fistula arm was given a prescription from his Doctor. The Doctor is well aware of what he is currently taking and when and how much!
Rich called the Doctor at my request after refusing to fill it.
The doctor said, it is ok to fill the script however ,*Rich informed the Doctor that he was confiscating the prescription and shredding it.
Since when do pharmacist over rule a Doctor? After I heard that, I questioned the shredding of the doXXXXent and he “INVITED ME BEHIND THE COUNTER TO WATCH HIM SHRED IT! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?” I REFUSED TO GO BEHIND THE drugstore COUNTER AND REQUESTED HE TEAR IT UP IN FRONT OF ME AT THE COUNTER. HE COMPLYIED WITH GREAT FLOURISH IN THREE PIECES. THEN HE LAUGHED AND LAUGHED. Laughing while someone is suffering is a horrible thing.
I wonder how many more people have gone through this? I am sure Rich is just one of many but this guy was a real jerk. In my personal opinion. *** I am so angry at his complete disregard of my feeling and the disrespectful actions of laughing!

Debra Johnston October 24, 2014 at 2:59 pm

I spoke with the drugstore District Manager and was told because the prescription was taken to another drugstore before I brought it there. It looked like I was “drugstore shopping”. The problem was the first drugstore(* hospital drugstore*) did not have the medication needed so I called Winn Dixie to see if they had any and was told YES. So I took it there.
The Winn Dixie drugstore District Manager assured me she would look into his actions as well as the tape for that day. She seemed concerned about the way he acted and the fact he invited me behind the counter even though the local drugstore told me their surveillance has no sound? She informed me that some do.
Oh well, at least I was not completely disregarded when I did complain? I believe in karma so everything in life comes full circle. I was a customer when the store was Kash n Karry , then SweetBay, many years and and since opened here as well as many years in inverness / floral city in my younger years. Bye Winn Dixie……

Debra Johnston November 18, 2014 at 7:00 am

I went back to the same location and shopped recently. I am just going to forgive and forget what happened. I like Winn Dixie products and the BOGO items help so much on a tight budget.

Debbie Green September 26, 2014 at 11:37 am

well to start off with taking over Sweet Bay sucked and went to your heads. The Beef People?? What a joke. No more buy one get one free what happened to that?? I use to shop there every week and spent around $200.00 average. Well Publix and Walmart have way many more buys then you use to do. I have talked to many people about this and they have changed stores to. So don’t change what your doing know it will be fun watching you to fall flat on your faces. And by the way the people working for you are rude bored when asked something or send you to the wrong place for it. You have to find things your self. But I was surprised you let this happen to the public thats why we go eleswhere!!!!!!!!!

I just had the most gracious employee at your store #2417 she was very informant and very courteous and professional. She was very helpful and sweet. Thank you Ms.Alyssa Winters Winn Dixie employee…

Anon August 10, 2014 at 4:45 am

I don’t know how some of the employees make it past the interview and go on to get hired. It is honestly baffling. They are extremely immature, gossipy, rude, and self-absorbed. Mainly the teenagers there are what I am talking about. They favorite some people and randomly will treat others who don’t fit the “cool” bill like total crap, not even looking up to say anything, giving dirty looks, not giving them the time of day. One new employee who’s a teenager snapped at a customer. Very bad and unprofessional and extremely rude behavior. Unbelievable.

Dear Sir:

I am appalled to hear that Dollar Stores who are in plazas where Winn Dixie is also a tenant have been informed that they must reduce their food aisles to 500 square feet or less, and remove their drink and toy/snack machines.
If this is not illegal it is certainly immoral. Many people rely on the Dollar Stores’ low prices due to sever financial restrictions such as loss of job or living on shoe string social security budgets. Still others buy food there to donate to food pantries.
At the very least this appears to be a form of monopolizing and bullying.
I will be alerting the local news media in hopes that they will provide wide range coverage to this injustice.
I definitely will no longest shop for anything at Winn Dixie and will be looking into transferring my prescriptions from the Winn Dixie drugstore to another local establishment, most likely Publix as I will be doing my grocery shopping in their beautiful, new, full service store in the future.

Carol August 5, 2014 at 4:02 pm

My fiance just started working at one of your stores…things have been rocky from the start. Second day there he gets pulled from him department, of which he was in training for lead, and is told very rudely to get over it. Then following, after speaking to management and telling them exactly when he can work without any issue, they tell him to close every night, be paid for only two and to continue to work two different departments while only getting paid the very base pay. He has a family…we have a two year old…she can’t stay up past 9 every single night. He deserves to be able to put his daughter to bed. The schedule that was agreed upon literally got tossed to the side. The staff look at him and say you either do this or you just quit. Ha. This is after they told him they were so shorthanded. This Winn Dixie can’t afford to keep making their employees quit. Over 15 people have already quit in his department alone since the start of the year. That’s got to tell you something. Please…try and make me understand how this treatment even works.

Anon August 9, 2014 at 5:06 am

I hear you. My store is at least as bad with our boss telling you to do one thing and then getting mad at your for doing it. Completely unreasonable. I have closed for 3 months now and always clock out at my scheduled time, then one night just randomly got written up for cleaning down my register and clocking out and my scheduled time. How is this even allowed to treat your employees like such dirt? 8 dollars an hour is not nearly enough to get treated like a slave in communist russia.

Anon February 20, 2015 at 1:52 pm

I agree I our manager hires kids that are in school and don’t like to work weekends plus they can’t work past 9 on school nights. He has managers under him that play favorites some leave their register for hrs and go to the back and play pretend to do cbl one favorite told me that he can do no wrong a lead got on to him about working and he said he called her a XXXXXX he said that they told the lead it was her fault she probably is

brandy bunn July 19, 2014 at 4:12 pm

this morning in the pouring rain i had to bring my daughter to your store here in Pensacola store #0506 or 0605 anyways it is off of nine mile and chemstrand. again my daughter was sick and I needing to go and get some medicine for my daughter. Nevertheless, again it was around 750 am july 19th 2014, and again it was raining really bad. now I didn’t think much about the shoes that I was wearing (flip flops, not the best choice for rain) however I needed to get her some medicine and i was waiting for me dr. to call me back with what else I needed for her. One of your employees was dropped off at the front door, which of course I didn’t have any issues with however I am hurrying through the rain with a toddler in tote with a towel and in flip flops.. Your employees Ride for the day. proceeded to insist on making me play chicken with their car. I was saying “you have got to be kidding me” very loud and “come on, it’s pouring down out here” we were not allow me to cross into the store nor were they moving their car in a courteous manner either. Did I mention it is raining really bad and I am carrying a toddler and we are getting soaken wet because your employee’s ride felt that they have the right of way to have us endure either getting hit by a car or getting soaked .. I finally got into your store and I told the first person I seen which was a man that (and pointed to the employee who allowed for this to happen) I am so pissed right now. How dare that employee do that. they she came up to me and instead of apologizing for her and her drivers actions for the rudeness and how inconsiderate that it was and that all pedestrian have the right of way not employees rides.. She starter verbally assaulting me yelling what my “daddy’ you mean MY DADDY. and was extremely hostile towards me and my daughter. scoffed rolled her eyes and went to the back of the store with an attitude I told the young lady in the check out lane to please contact the manager on duty.. then I proceeded to the medicine aisle and asked her if she could just have him come over there. Andy your manager approached me and listened for less then a minute about what happened to me and told me that his employees have rights too.. what in the heck does that means ? your employees have the right to run me and my daughter over in front of your store.. Now mind you I wasn’t out in the parking lot I was in the Yellow striped area where you have STOP signs for the cars and he was going to hit us just because he can and your employee and manager feels that I am not owed an apology or at least helping understand why the safety of all people not just employees should be your companies first concern. NOW I have my listening ears on.. please explain..

C Richard July 9, 2014 at 9:54 am

I have been with winn dixie for almost 33 years. We have seen a lot of changes with the company, but never thought I would quit because I was being over worked while other management making twice as much as me , not trained getting positions because they got the job because of who they now . I had an anixiety attack so I overreacted and quit. Well instead of my boss calling me to see if I was alright he termated me because he already had somebody to take my place. So did he push me so I would break ? Winn dixie is not the same they don’t care about employees . Yes I made a mistake but ask anybody at 1461 in batonrouge if I carried my load they would say yes. I tried to get my job back my boss said the supervisor said no because of the way I walked out. Also another asst. Manager is leaving because of coditions . The moral in this store is so bad . I used to brag this was the first job I had and this is what I get for working my ___ off . Thanks

John July 23, 2014 at 3:30 pm

You could begin, by not bad mouthing the company.. you have choices and so do they. get an education and improve your life don’t blame everyone for your shortcomings//be happy

Richard July 9, 2014 at 6:41 am

I shop at the Winn Dixie on 17-92 in Sanford,FL. Great store with great prices, however their gas reward program at first I thought, was a great idea and it would help a lot in this economy but, the shell gas station on Lake Mary Blvd. seems to be taking advantage of the program. They have raised their prices so high that there is no advantage at all to use your gas program savings to buy gas there. I know prices vary daily but, this stations prices are the highest I have seen. At least .14 cents higher for regular than anyone else and believe it or not .40 cents higher for mid-grade. Yesterday they were charging $3.96 a gallon for mid-grade gas. That’s .20 cents higher than anyone else in town. Winn Dixie needs to make a deal with some other gas company then Shell, or at least some other local dealers or their gas rewards program in this area of Florida is all for not.

Dear Sir/ Ma’am:

I just wanted to let you know that every time I attend this Winn Dixie, there are too employees that sticks out like diamonds at your Winn Dixie. I have told the Manager at the store, about one of them (Dave) but I feel it did not make a difference doing a verbal recommendation. I say this because did not feel ‘the love’ when I spoke to the manager about his employee (Caucasion Manager).

FIrst Employee David Lopez (I think Lopez is his last name). This employee works in the seafood (meat) department and his knowledge of seafood is exemplary. Not to mention his courtesy and respect for any customer walking through the door. He always, and I mean always ask anyone if they needed help looking for anything. I personally feel, if there was a management position available he should be trained. I have been going there for years and I always look for Dave. If Dave decides to move on, it would be a loss of a company’s asset.

Second Employee: Elaine in the Bakery/Deli (Trinidadian) I dont know her last name. If it wasnt for Elaine I wouldnt even go to the deli/bakery. I actually never did until she showed up. She makes us (my family), feel warm and fuzzy when we go to this Winn Dixie. My family loves her. My kids will not go to the deli unless Elaine is there. They said only Elaine treats them like a customer and they feel important. That’s nice to hear.

My sadness to this email, is that no one knows. Not even the Managers. I hope this in writing would help these 2 employees on a recognition status because if I was their Manager I sure would recognize them in one or another.

They just don’t care

Nicole Priselac June 26, 2014 at 9:41 pm

Today I went to your crystal river fl location at meadow crest. I had head about a huge sale because the store was transferring to a new location. I drove 20 minutes out of my way to this location only to be stopped and informed by other customers that were clearly upset that the store was already closed. An hour early at that. (9pm) and that they had been stopped in the middle pf their shopping trip and forced to check out. The little girl kept saying that “they hate us” referring to your employees. I wasted time and gas driving to your store and I feel your general manager should have kept the store open until 10 pm as the correct time.I will most definitely avoid all Winn Dixie products from now on. How rude of your employees to treat guests that make their living like garbage..

Mission in Citrus Inc June 24, 2014 at 4:35 pm

Thank you for your support. Over 5000 meals have been served so far through Operation Mercy Call. Tents , sleeping bags , lanterns , and much more have also been provided to homeless Veterans and others in the woods.. We could not have done it without you.

We applaud Winn Dixie for their commitment to Veterans and others in need.

John July 23, 2014 at 3:36 pm

OOOOOps they care @ times, besides it wins them a tax exemption for their donations

Milo May 20, 2014 at 8:12 pm

The reason Publix is beaten you is simple. You think that gas perks alone can win, your fools. I was at the Winn Dixie on the corner of curry ford and goldenrod in Orlando fl. As I walked in some person approach me asking me (what movie do I want), he was selling illegal movies in front of your store. Publix would never allow the to happen on their parking lot. I called the manager and her excuse was, that is not our property, a very amature and unintelligent answer. I like your prices and I like the fuel perks however it’s not worth the hassle. This is the second time I called about the person selling illegal movies in front of your store. This time I called the sheriff department since your managers or directors don’t know the what to do. Your welcome.

David s. May 9, 2014 at 3:19 pm

When i went to the store a couple of weeks ago the customer service was wonderful and I loved shopping at winn Dixie the sales are great and the feul perks is a huge plus. The cashier sharon was a wonderful and respectful to me always with a smile on her face she put me in a better mood when I left the store I advise you to keep her. She didnt act like she was still in training I watched her interact with the children to help the parents out so the can be less stressful when they are checking out. She was very patient and did everything right. She didn’t even have to call a manager over to do anything.

David White April 28, 2014 at 3:44 pm

My wife and I HATE double pricing. It’s nothing more than a scam to force customers to have one of your cards on our key rings or in our wallet. What is the real price????? the lower or upper. I suppose if we submit to a card we’ll save a few pennies but have to give you information in return. Information you will use to fill our computers and mail boxes with yet more junk mail!!! And by the way. The little cards don’t work at the Shell stations. There is only one large card so if we take the wrong car to the gas station —– no discount!!!!!
I suppose your intention is that we should both have a Reward Card Rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kalena June 1, 2014 at 9:51 pm

yes the little cards on the key chains do work at gas stations if you go inside…my husband and I have been using them for quite some time …it may be a little inconvenient to have to go in the store but yesterday I saves $1.85/gal …it’s worth it to me.

ron August 2, 2014 at 2:13 am

First off know what you are talking about and not just spouting off just to be heard. Publix is higher prices than both Wal-Mart and Winn dixie. They use no card and that’s why they have 40 associates in the store at 7 am. You are paying for that. And you actually don’t need the card to get the discount all you need to know is your account number. It’s the 12 or so numbers at the bottom of your little card. You type them in at the gas pump and voila! Gas discounts! So the morale of this story boys and girls is that people only write comments to complain and they have nothing positive to say.

Linda Chesnutt April 15, 2014 at 2:19 pm

The drugstore at Winn Dixie in Palmetto, Florida is a disgrace and a disaster waiting to happen. Customer Service is but non-existent, and none of the drugs prescribed for me were in stock. My Rheumatologist called in a Rx for Lyrica on Tuesday, April 8 in the afternoon. On Thursday afternoon, April 10, my PC doctor called in a Rx for Singulair. Several hours later I went to the drugstore to inquire about both. Was told that neither drug was in stock and that both were on order and should arrive in a day or so. I asked the drugstore tech to please give me the Drug Spec sheet on Lyrica as I was not sure that I wanted to take the drug. She asked me if I wanted a few pills of Lyrica to hold me over until it came in. I told her no and that I just wanted the Spec sheet. On Sunday I called again to inquire about Singulair ETA, and to cancel filling the Rx for Lyrica as there were far too many side effects to suit me after reading the spec sheet. I was told by the PT that Singulair still did not come in but it should arrive some time on Monday. I called again on Monday at 3pm to find out if Singulair came in, and she said it did. On Monday, April 14th at 5:30 PM my husband picked up my Rx on the way home from work because I had to attend a meeting in Sarasota later in the evening. I got home at 9 pm to find out my husband was not given the Singulair Rx, but was given Lyrica which was canceled a few days prior. I can not return the Lyrica of course because once any Rx leaves the drugstore it can not be returned for safety reasons. I am also out $60 as well for something I will not take and can not return!
First, no one from the drugstore ever called me once to let me know that both drugs were on back order or had arrived. I had to initiate every single call and drive there several times. We live over 9 miles from the store. My husband is an HR Manager with Manatee County, and the health plan with the county dictates that we use a very select few pharmacies, yours being one of them.

Second, Lyrica is a controlled substance. I never took the drug before and I never will. However, the PT should not be offering pills to customers of a controlled substance. It’s against the law.

Last, I called your Corporate Offices in Jacksonville and spoke with Josh in Customer Service and told him that I wanted to speak with drugstore Director to register a formal complaint. I have yet to hear from anyone in the Corporate Office.
Need I say, the aforementioned would never ever occur with any of your competitors. My husband was the TD Manager for Walgreens in NY and CT and my daughter is a PT. My husband will insure that these incidents are reported to the Benefits Manager with the county. God help the poor soul(s) who do not bother to read the labels on their Rx meds, including side effects.

Denise J June 7, 2014 at 1:17 pm

I am a Registered drugstore Tech for the state of Florida, NOT at WD, but somewhere else. We are not allowed to counsel patients. If you have a prescription for a controlled substance, we may offer you a few pills to hold you over if it is out of stock. We can look up controlled substances on the computer and see when you filled you last. In your case, if you have never filled one before for that drug, a long as you have a prescription we may give you some, only if your prescription is within the time span that’s allowed for controlled substances. (This is not my real name, I used a fake one to protect my identity.

The store located in Naples Vanderbilt Beach Road and Collier Boulevard previously was a sweet Bay store! I was there today shopping and will never never return! The store is a disgrace! Bring back Sweetbay at least their management cared! The produce department was the worst I have ever seen any produce department ever ever!

John July 23, 2014 at 3:37 pm

Difficult to believe this happens in Naples..ha ha

Nancy G. August 9, 2014 at 5:04 am

I must agree. I was very disappointed to hear that SweetBay was leaving the Venice, FL, area.

Sadly, the stores are a step down in quality, selection, and service.

Image and marketing is awful, and the produce manager was so unqualified that he did not even know the term GMO. I do not expect nuclear physicists there – but Local, Sustainable, Organic, and GMOs are terms and distinctions that I fully expect someone in such a position to be cognizant of.

I would like to offer my services as a consultant – but am sadly afraid that they just do not care.

Fed up April 2, 2014 at 4:11 pm

Winn Dixie in Naples, Florida on Golden Gate Parkway has some of the rudest pharmacists I’ve ever come across. Their checkout clerk at the drugstore had a bad attitude before I even gave my name. He had a defensive posture and an immediate smirk on his face when I informed him that no I cannot wait an additional four days for my medication and I would need my prescription back. Of course they failed to inform me that they did not have said medication in stock when they were dropped off four hours prior. He said I could either wait until Friday or take the script back. I took it back thinking I could head over to the other Winn Dixie in town or Publix since I sometimes fill there and seems they were both out. I took it back to Winn Dixie today and the same clerk whispered in the pharmacist’s ear and suddenly their policy is that they cannot hold scripts if they do not have them in stock. Funny, how I’ve been able to drop them off before at other pharmacies. I’ve been on the same medication for over 3 years and its unbelievable how pharmacists seem to think that their name has and “M.D” after it. I can’t wait for my regular pharmacist to get Medicaid straightened out, he’s a wonderful person and he has never made me feel this way. I cannot wait to tell him how horrible these people are. Not to mention the store is dirty, most employees don’t speak English, the employees chase each other around in motorized carts, their vegetables are often rotten and same with the meat. Oh and he really should go brush those teeth. I’m an RDH, perhaps he should come see me? =) Jerks.

1. There is not enough people to work in the store located at us 1 and Sunrise in Fort Lauderdale. I had to walk out and leave my groceries at the deli counter, the lines are too long , the employees are stressed out.

2. How greedy is Winn Dixie and the executives to have the stores open till 9pm on Christmas Eve, 2013. That’s really disgusting, I think Winn Dixie is greedy and treats their employees like slaves and low pay.

Anon August 9, 2014 at 5:17 am

Yep, I work there and they do treat us like slaves, like less than human with no feelings. They are so rude to us and don’t care and are unfair. they are also way too cheap to even hire close to the amount of baggers needed. I’m definitely quitting. Boycott WD!!

I answered an ad on a internet site for a bakery asst., as I was a cook in the military. I was told at the interview that the position was gone ,but they needed part-time help in the liquor store. I said ok, and I was hired at the end of the interview, so I guess I made a good impression. My first day was 10/01/2013. I worked 13 hours in the first pay period, and 9 hours in the next. I made a few mistakes on the register during those 4 days, but I had no cashiering experience.I guess new hires are not allowed any errors. When the line backed up on football gamedays, the other register was not opened because”people wait at CVS too”.Great way to treat me, a veteran & a senior citizen.

Since when is it okay for DM’s to take vender tickets for football games and take 2 store managers with him to the games??? I thought it was against company policy and shows favoritism. You might want to look into the Gainesville area. I know store managers that have been fired for accepting vender tickets at Winn Dixie stores. My advice to those people is get a lawyer because the Gainesville DM is accepting vender tickets.

I have shopped at Winn-Dixie for many years and for the most part been happy there. But lately I have not been . I can’t seem to get service in the deli. No one wants to slice meat. If they don’t want to then they should get a job doing something else. I am sick of bad attitudes. I am taking it personal. I left one store and went to another one and still get the same treatment. Next week I will go to Publix and give them a try. I have never bought my groceries there before but I am willing to see if they will treat me better. I shopped in Wetumpka, Al and then at Eastdale in Montgomery, Al. All I wanted was some roast beef sliced. I don’t think that was asking too much. Do you?

Vincent Betancourt August 10, 2013 at 9:58 pm

To: Corparate CEO
I shop at Winn Dixie because it is 3 blocks from my home.I buy lottery
Tickets and many times goes around 9 or 9:15 PM.Today to my surprise
the department (cust service) has a sign closed from 9 PM on, and no
transaction will be made including lottery (lottery in Fl. Close
at 10:30 PM)..I complained to the clrrk, how a whole dept is closed when the store
close at 11:00PM. The clerk said new rules.,In fact a day or two before
Same thing happened to me and complained to the Mgr. (Actually he was in
Office) and told him how could that be when there are two more hours of operation
Left. He said that it should not be close just “scratch off” and someting else but not the machine until lotto closed operation. I agreed! He made the clerk re opened.
Today the whole thing was closed., lotto scratch off cigarretes youname it and three employees hanging around.
Now I see why WD filed for bankruptcy in the past just imaging that you gross just $100 a nighthat $36500 a year x all the store you .that a ,lot of dough, even for
WD and on top of that the payroll expenses for idled workers and so many disgusted customer like me (I spend 2 to 2.5k a year at this store.I have to drive
Further away to the gas station ( time I stopped at the store 9.02 exact) What a way in ddoing business……This does not happened at your other competitors !!!!!

Curtis Dunson August 2, 2013 at 10:03 pm

today is August 2nd 2013. sense about the month of February, I have been shopping and finding expiration dates on packages of Winn Dixie products to be so far out of expiration date that is ridiculoue.g. bread_ hot dog, hamburge, and loaves of bread with smeared dates. I went home and grabed my magnifying glass, then return back to the store in hopes that I would be able to finally read the expiration dates. . Memorial Day weekend all packages of bread Winn Dixie products red april 5th 7th or 8th. I brought this to the attention of a young lady at the customer care desk. the employe rest assured me that she would bring this to the attention of the store manager. guess what ladies and gentlemen out there in the world; packages remained on the shelves of approximately 60 70. this is one of several types of products that falls into this situation. What happened ? Ya’ll used to be a GREAT store . I’ve been a customer since the early 50’s and have had to switch stores over and over again after you change managers and screw a store up . Nobody in Baton Rouge , La. knows the # of your Joor Rd. store and the phonebook lists the fax # for store # and some other store managers won’t even look it up . Real customer service . I drove 40 miles to buy a large quantity of meat and Joor Rd. store had hardly any on the shelf and the packages they did have were tiny . Are you TRYING to go out of business ? Is there a day when you get meat and poor planning allowed the Joor rd. store to run out ? Are they just to lazy to put more out ? Ya’ll lost out on a $250.00 minimum sale but then again it seems like you could care less . I’ll be looking for a new place to shop in the near future and will encourage my friends to do the same .

Leon Gaither May 30, 2013 at 1:21 pm

My name is Leon Gaither and I live on the east side of Orlando. On Sunday 26 of May 2013 I went to the Winn Dixie at Waterford Lakes #2270 and due to what I experienced there this will be the last time that I will shop at a Winn Dixie. Earlier in the week I had shopped at another Winn Dixie and bought some groceries. On the way home a bag that the items were in developed a hole and a bottle of wine fell out of the bag and broke. I collected it and with the receipt went to the above mentioned store to see if it could be replaced. I didn’t know what the policy was but I know that if I had gone to Publix they would have replaced the item. The young lady I spoke to when I entered the store told me she would have to check with her manager, a Danny Padilla. After a minute he came out of his office and the first thing out of his mouth was “I will do it this time but I won’t do it again.” Struck me as odd, no pleasantries, no thank you for shopping at Winn Dixie, nothing. I asked him what did he meant? He replied it is not our policy to replace, once you leave the store it is on you. Go get your item and bring it back up to the front. Then he repeated that he would only do this this one time. So now I am about to walk out of the store but I am there, I need some other things, he’s got some issues, we will move on. After getting the other things, mind you I have a basket full of stuff and I am heading to the check out. I pass by Danny and he comes at me once again and says “You could have told me you bought the thing at another store.” Now I am pissed, why couldn’t he have let it go, or again, thank you for shopping at Winn Dixie, come again. And what really got me was he says again “I will only do this this one time.” I said” Listen man, if you don’t want to do it don’t do it.” He says I don’t want to do it. Now as a veteran of the United States army I know that I served to protect the rights of people to act and say what they want, but this got to me. I have been a rewards customer at this store for over 10 years, back when all the stores were run down, shopped there even over the protests of my wife and family who prefer Publix, and I will tell you I will never shop at another Winn Dixie ever again. I was subjected to this type of treatment over something as menial as this? Get real.

I had sent this complaint to the customer service link on your website which says that I would receive a response within 48 hours and I still have not received anything.

Whistle Blower Store 0367

During my tenure with Winn Dixie, I have been a loyal and dedicated employee. I have always acted in the company’s best interest. I believe that all associates contribute to the success of Winn Dixie. Stores should seek to promote an environment that is professional, supportive of all teamwork and trust. Over the past years, I became aware and have observed of certain conducts and practices that violate company’s policies. I am providing you with these observations with the knowledge that I feel compelled to bring it to your attention. Among many issues:

· Conflict of interest (employee Savannah) lives in store manager’s house and dating her son. In addition, husband works for wine company that delivers wine in store.

· Belittled employees in store= Addressed employee utilizing foul languages, and fought employee when there’s a difference of opinion.

· Unprofessionalism= Employees are not treated with dignity and respect.

· Unethical= disrespectfulness, backstabbing, gossiping

· Complex Inferiority= Store manager feels superior to everyone in the store. Annoyed by lack of cooperation, poor teamwork, bullying or verbal abuse.

· Store Communication= No communication because employees have fears of being sent home, or fired.

· Company’s Assets misused= Markdowns are done where store manager and close buddies get first choice. Carts of merchandise purchased for the purpose of paying less.

. Denied promotions to blacks in favor of whites.

In conclusion, please acknowledge my kindness in the best manner for I take no pleasure in doing this. It has taken me years to build up the courage. After 20 years plus as a dedicated employee, Winn Dixie is my home and a career. I love my job and I love what I do. It is not an easy decision to make. But it is the right decision to make. It is a sad reality that these types of behavior still exit in today’s work environment.

I agree 100% with everything you have just wrote. I also had the same issues with the Winn Dixie I worked at 0463. My manager was very disrespectful, unprofessional, and quick to fire and send any home. I worked at Winn Dixie for 2 1/2 years and as soon as this guy started working there I experienced and witnessed a lot of unnecessary work issues. Whenever my manager had an issue with me he would talk to me about it in the office, and the next time I worked I would find out that he told half the work team about me in a negative way. Managers are not suppose to gossip and be messy. They also should not keep picking on other employees just because of their title.I had to deal with this unprofessional for a while now and it has made my work experience there hell. I do not even like to shop at Winn Dixie anymore just because I know he is there running things.

For several years I’ve planned my weekly Winn-Dixie grocery shopping trip to take advantage of the wonderful fish filet plates in the deli. The crisp delicate fish filets, hushpuppies, baby limas and fried okra!! Last week I was so dissapointee because you have changed the type of fish you are using. The fish had a very strong taste and was not good. This morning I went by the deli and when they asked could they help me I asked the lady if they had change their fish they are using, and she said yes. Needless to say, I had to tell her that I would not be buying lunch there, unless they change back to the fish Winn-Dixie had used for years. I try to be a loyal customer, but I may start buying my groceries elsewhere. Please consider my request to change back to the light delicate fish that actually taste good!!!

3/19/13 I had occasion to shop at WD today. At the check out line, with a light on, a woman in front of me had the belt filled with her selections. I was 2nd in line, and a gentleman came up behind me. We stood and stood, and no cashier came to check us out! We stood for perhaps 3-4 minutes! Finally the other gentleman & I went to the self-check out, which I despise, and as we were leaving, the woman was STILL waiting for a cashier! These are the things that send your customers to Publix! I have had so many bad occasions with WD that I cannot count them all! Mostly employee failures. I do not like the new store either with all the signs & banners everywhere. It cheapens the Co. as does the new advertising and cluttered aisles. The man behind me voiced exactly my feelings, “not to shop at WD at all”. I feel welcome at Publix. It is clean, orderly AND the employees go out of their way to help and be friendly. You had better hire “secret shoppers” to give you an account of the day to day operations as seen by the customer!
