The company designs and operates an eSports platform, which enables users to compete in online games and sports games, such as bowling or soccer, with players around the world. The company originally released 10 games for Android phones, but has since moved on to develop more than 150 games each day, hosting 150,000 micro tournaments daily. This type of online cash for winning games has become very popular, with $5 million in prizes paid out to participants in 2016.
Skillz has been granted 4 patents for their platform and it has become the #1 eSports platform in the world.
In June 2021, Skillz acquired ad-tech company Aarki for $150 million.
