Coty, Inc. was founded in Paris, France, in 1904 by Francois Coty. The company creates and sells a wide variety of beauty products, cosmetics, and fragrances, which are sold around the world.
While the company has been sold several times over the decades, it recently merged with P&G Speciality Beauty in 2016. 
The company is known for its cooperation with designers and celebrities for the creation of fragrances. Some of its biggest brands are CoverGirl, Max Factor, Rimmel, Sally Hansen, Adidas, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Gucci, Burberry, and hair care products under the Wella Professionals label. Fragrances include Chloe, Davidoff, Marc Jacobs, Playboy, as well as OPI Beauty products. 
The company went public on the NYSE under the ticker symbol COTY in 2013.
In November 2015, the company acquired Hypermarcas’ Beauty & Personal Care Business, providing Coty a strong position in Brazilian beauty & personal care market, the third-largest beauty market in the world.
In 2016, the company reported annual revenue of $9 billion. 
Coty maintains corporate offices in New York, New York and employs more than 22,000 persons worldwide.
