In 1993 Health Net merged with Qualmed to form a new company, Health Systems International. The new company had 1.8 million members.
In 1997 Health Systems merged with Foundation Health Corporation to form Foundation Health Systems, a company valued at $1.27 billion and 5 million members in 17 states.
In 2000 the company changed its name to Health Net when the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol HNT.
Today Health Net, Inc. provides managed care medical coverage to 5.4 million members. Services include vision, dental care, and pharmacy benefit programs.
Health Net is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol HNT, is a member of the S&P 400, is #236 on the Fortune 500, has 7,565 employees, and had $11.30 billion in revenue in 2013.
