Carrier Corporation was founded in 1915 when Willis Carrier, who invented air conditioning in 1902, pooled resources with 6 other engineers to create the first air conditioning company in the world in Newark, New Jersey.

Over the years the company has acquired several businesses, as well as been acquired by others, the latest in 1979 by United Technologies Corporation. The company manufactures, sells, and installs air conditioning and heating units around the world. In 2001 the company was recognized as being the largest manufacturer of refrigeration and heating units in the world.

In November of 2016, the company negotiated a deal with then president elect Trump that they would leave a heating manufacturing plant in Indiana, saving about 800 jobs. The remainder of the plant and jobs were sent to Monterrey, Mexico. Carrier received a $7 million tax incentive over the next 10 years.

Carrier and other HVAC companies have the potential to make a bundle with the coronavirus crisis since it has more people spending time indoors.

    Worst company ever!
They don’t care about the customers. The executive office returned one call and stopped responding.
New AC was purchased and installed in April 2022 and stopped working in July 2022. Was told the evaporator coil is leaking and needs to be replaced. Was told they won’t have that part till Dec 2022.
House is now growing mold and Carrier doesn’t care. All this has been reported to the executive office and to the customer relations department. No one is doing anything to fix it!!!

I went to buy 4 hp AC from Carrier company for my 32sq room… Last level… And in the store the buyer was very wierd told me that if the AC is not suitable for the space, the company will cancel the gaurantee (which is illegal ) ….Anyway i called the call center to check… What surprised me that they confirmed the same!!!!!!….. So we asked the company for someone to come home to find out the suitable AC for the room …. the service wasn’t available !!!! and they will try to make an exception for me…. So they sent a mail to the responsible department but no one came!!!!
As we were very worried after what they said and with no further experience, no help from company side, we bought the 5 hp to be in the safe side but from day one we have discoverd the problem, The AC is so much bigger according to room size ….so i sent to the officel carrier messenger to check what was the suitable AC for my room according to the room size & level and if i was got manipulated…. guess what!!! they told me it’s 4hp ( conversation screen shot is available) !!!…. I called them to complaint ….. They send me someone to check the place ( suddenly the service became available!!! ) after checking the place ( measuring the room) …. He told me that i should got the 4 hp… But it will not make a big difference and i will still feel the same.. So i told him that as long as i going to suffer also with the 4hp….. Get me the 3hp…. As long as we are just 2 persons at home….and most of the neighbors in the same building have 3hp in the same room size and it is working great and especially that a lot of websites recommend the 3hp for the same room size. ( All these informations i have discovered it later after they lost the credibility)
After this visit…. They called me to told me the opposite of what the supervisor said, that the 5hp suitable for the room!!!! …. They lied and started to rip off and told me as soon as the AC is cooling the place…. That’s fine with us!!!!
We are now living in a freezer….. We aren’t able to open it more than 1 hour…. Sometime less … It’s super cool….. Trying even to move the flaps and the deflectors to a side to be able to stay on the other side…. Doesn’t work….. Due to the high hp and its size….. When i have kids in home…. I got very worried about where they are playing or standing coz they could easily get a health problems…. And for sure a unnecessary very High electricity bill

Carrier must not allow unlicensed technicians to install their HVAC system.

Your company should be on top of this important matter.
Have updated logs regarding units installed and the name of the company and technician licensed that installed the units

Do not risk our life s and properties

I strongly believe I received a lemon unit. The unit installed was a Payne manufactured by Carrier with the same guarantees as a Carrier but with a different name placed on it (Payne). The unit I have is barely over 2 years old. The manufacture date on the unit is May 2017 in MEXICO. It worked very well the first year and then we started having difficulties with it. Approx. 7/18 or 19 Diagnostic run on air conditioner to determine issue. (paid $165.00 for service call) 7/22/2019 First the blower motor went out and I had to have that replaced. (cost – $347.00) The blower motor was supposedly under warranty but charged a discounted amount of $200 and no service charge. Hummm?) 11/15/2019 Then the AC stopped working. Diagnostic showed TXV not working properly. Replaced TXV and replaced refrigerant that leaked out. (cost – $600.00) Now last night 11/17/2019 it was cold enough here to put on the heat. Guess what? NO HEAT. Needless to say I feel I have gotten a lemon of a unit. I haven’t even paid the loan on the unit off yet andI have had to put in $1112 in repairs and I don’t know yet what is wrong with the heat portion of the unit or what it will cost to repair that. I am so disappointed in the quality of this unit and the name of Carrier that I am going to contact the Consumer Protection Agency, the BBB and your board of directors. These kind of problems should not be happening to a new unit.

Purchased and had installed a Carrier system in June of 2016. I am now, three years later, sitting in sweltering heat. I should have done my homework because I have since found out that either my unit was made by a disgruntled almost out of work America or someone that didn’t have a clue in Mexico. My installer, bless their heart, had to pay extra to have the part delivered to them tomorrow. Carrier should have to eat this delivery charge. I will never buy another Carrier product again.

Today I called about the Redan library in Lithonia being without air conditioning for 3 days.
I had a supervisor call me and scream at me and hung up.
I then called back and was told Ray Pinkcomb was the district manager.
When he returned my call he threatened my life on the phone.
When I called the call center in N.Y. I was told a case number but they would not do anything about it.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
I bought an 1.5 ton split air-conditioner from your company in March 2019. At the time of its installation your service center troubled me. Now I want to service of my AC, so the your service center in charge Mr. Rakesh has been asking me Rs 600/- rupees and is abusing me. I complained it to customer care. But none of my solutions has been done. So I request you to solve my problem faster.
    Thanks

    Needs to have compressor replaced
Installer will not answer my texts or emails
Had another company check it out and said it’s the compressor.I have talked to carrier several times and did all they told me to do.

We purchased a unit from your company in 2011 that has to be serviced every year since it’s purchase, now the compressor is out again. We also purchased the 10 year warranty on this unit that is over in 2021. We have had to deal with a very difficult parts distributor Mingledorffs of Forrest Park Georgia our tchnicianew has been given the run around and was told by Mingeldorff’s emplotter that the compressor would not be replaced again and that they did not have the part and both of these were untrue. At this point my spouse Dr. Derrick Boochee contact the warranty and was told that this was not the case and the compressor would be replaced again. Mingeldorffs has been a complete nightmare, along with the experience of purchasing this unit and the tremendous cost of paying the technical every time the unit has to be repaired. You spouse has serious medical issues and this unit is use for the cooling of the second floor of our home that is where our master bedroom is on. I am asking that Mingeldorffs is held responsible for their unprofessional, unfair, untruthful inconvenience of having to wait long periods of time when getting replacement parts and some type of compensation for these issues. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanking you in advance.

I am totally at wiits end with Carrier. I bought 3 units the top of the line ( infiniti ) 2.8 years ago and I have nothing but trouble from the units. I paid 30K for all 3 units via Home Depot. All 3 units have had to be repaired no less than 10X each. ARS air conditioning company has been responsive to the problem but I’m beginning to loose my patience regarding the often breakdown of the units. I have spoken to some one 1.5 years ago and I was granted an additional warrantee due to the many problems that I have had. I have continued to experience break downs. I was urged to change my breakers ? seemed old ? then I was told that I needed a surge protector. I again called the electrician and I paid $500. for the protector and installation. I have not seen any decrease in the # of breakdowns. As of today I’m waiting for a motor for the #1 unit. This unit is very important in that it cools the part of the house where my 90 year old mother is in a hospital bed. At present I am seriously thinking of getting some legal help. I will be seeking replacement of all 3 units. I am worried about my mother’s health. i have bought fans and other equipment but I am very frustrated. Ray Colom MD

case number 00892353 has been registered as of 6/16/17 with carrier for a system that is 9 months old and will not cool house adequately. would appreciate hearing from a carrier representative soon. the local installer in nj aj perry claims that the thermostat and the system will not allow us to cool the house below 72. our old system allowed us to cool the house as cold as we wanted. for $10,000 I got ripped off.
    thank you.
