Sitel was founded by James F. Lynch in 1985 as SITEL (Systems International TELemarketing), a customer care and teleservices company.
Lynch signed his first major client in 1988, Allstate Insurance, after which the business grew rapidly.
SITEL went public on the NASDAQ in 1985, and six months later moved to the New York Stock Exchange.
In 2006 SITEL had 70 call centers in 25 countries and over 30,000 employees.
In 2006 the company announced a merger with Client Logic, another outsourcing firm. After the merger the company announced that it would know be branded Sitel, now in lowercase letters.
Sitel is privately owned by private equity funds.
Today Sitel offers inbound and outbound sales, subscription renewal, database cleansing, lead generation, order fulfillment, customer acquisition, back-office processing, collections, and technical support.
In March 2022, Okta admits that hundreds of corporations, including Sitel, had compromised accounts after Okta was hacked.

Sitel deposited my paycheck into the wrong bank account, causing me bounced check fees. They refuse to talk to me about it, I have reached out by phone and email! I have since quit due to the situation and now I can’t verify my bank account information to make sure my last paycheck is going into the right account. It’s been two weeks and nothing! Worst company ever and if I need to sue I will.

I have attempted for over 2 months to receive a copy of my time sheets. In transition from Sykes to Sitel, my pay is incorrect along with my hours worked. I have followed procedure only to have no reply. The unprofessionalism is disgusting. I expect more from USDEN-OP-CapOneCoreLeaders@ sykes.com and Lara.Gminder. Currently searching for a way to reach HR.

Hello I have been trying to apply for a remote work from home job here and the mailbox is full to leave any voicemails. Please contact me back.

I applied for a completely remote position. I gotta tell ya guys that this is the most incredible “freak and fu*k” company I’ve ever come across! The coaches were literally two dorks laughing all the time during our training and doing nothing but showing us videos and playing games. Then when I started working I had no idea what IEX, SYNERGY, CTAS and so on were, how to log into that and what the heck that was. After sometime, I figured it out how to log in and how to use all these systems on my own without anybody being helpful in that company at all! Then after about a couple of weeks later they started bugging me that I am using the wrong IP address to log in to all their systems (I was working from home). Now what kind of bull shit is that? I still do not understand what the heck they were talking about. What difference does that make for Christ sake? Then they told me that they would not allow me to continue working any more because I am using the wrong IP address.. I have never ever seen anything more dumb and stupid in my life! I think they hire thousands of people every week, underpay them and then fire them for silly reasons like wrong IP addresses, thus they make extra income by misusing and mistreating their staff… My advice for anyone who is reading this, “Stay clear away from this crappy company!” P.S. I’ve emailed their HR department for many many times but they just never ever respond.. they simply ignore you big time and don’t give a fu*k. It’s also impossible to reach their HR by the phone as they say there that we do not provide HR support over the phone any longer, you have to email them. Vicious circle!

I worked for Sitek almost a year. I constantly met my performance goals. Then I got switched to a different team and this particular coach was not a nice person. So unfortunately I resigned. Not long after I resigned Sitel called me back saying they needed me to come back to the United healthcare campaign. I agreed to go back as long as I had a Monday through Friday position. Well I never ended up hearing from them again after I asked for a schedule change. So I reapplied for a customer service position and all of a sudden I’m not eligible for rehire. What kind of crap is that ?

What’s crazy about Sitel is the pay isn’t that bad, but this Establishment, in the case of “advancement” means who you know, not what you know!!!! So its very disheartening when you like your job, you like the pay, but you hate going to work with All the injustice that is evident among entry level Customer Service Reps and Upper Management. Worst part Customer’s think a Rep can do so much more than we are able to do. For All consumers, please stop being mad At the people on the phone. We are the least paid, yet over worked employees. We literally can’t do anything beyond what Corporate will allow!!! These company’s make billions of dollars a year and doesn’t have to hear your complaints. We are working class, stressed out Americans just like the consumer’s calling. Us common folks need to start forming together and do strikes or some form of protest, to show these CEO’s and Billionaires that without us entry level employes these businesses won’t run!!!!

What surprised me was the behavior of the trainers. A total lack of professionalism. They had no concern regarding delivery of the training content and how it would impact performance once the trainees who were placed in the performance area. They seem to have an agenda and were being encouraged to behave in a manner that was suited for their own personal ego or some other persons personal agenda. It appears as though the goal for them were threats and intimidation.
They did no emphasize performance and delivery of content to benefit the capability of the trainees and subsequently the competence in job performance; which in turn would benefit the corporation.
In my estimation they were inept.

To whom it may concern:
I started Sitel in May of 2015. I have previous experience in working from home in this industry and never had many issues with attendance until my medical situation changed that. I was born with a rare genetic bone disease that causes my bones to grow irregular and larger than they are suppose to. I have had 15 operations to remove and or correct issues cause by this disease. When I used to work in an office environment it was quite difficult to make it through most days. Between the pain and discomfort I couldn’t completely adjust to an office setting. And even so to communicate this to my superiors was even more difficult. Most didn’t believe me when I would explain my issues and those that did , didn’t seem to care or provide any assistance or advice regarding the matter. Therefore I got in the habit of just not mentioning my situation. When I got my first work at home position, I found it much easier to relax and was able to actually get comfortable while working. As with Sitel , I felt honored to have the option to work from my home and grateful for the opportunity to show my skills and work on my weak points. Right from the start Sitel was unlike any other position I ever had, the company workers and coaches were supportive and helpful,.and while on shift it was like working with family. There are very few things I take to seriously anymore but I assure you my job and it’s responsibilities have always been at the top of that list. It seemed that when it came to my employer and /or my idea of holding long term possibly permanent employment were not options I was given or had the chance to take. And no matter how hard I worked or how well I did , I always seemed to recieve the short end of the stick in the end. When I found Sitel I honestly thought that had changed. . During my time on the Macy’s campaign I was always in the top of the list of high production and sales revenue. I was even pointed out by Macy’s quality team in my call flow and procedure being exactly what the client was looking for. When asked to work extra hours or long days there is not one occasion where I said no. And I can honestly say during my shifts on mchd to Me not one second of it felt like work. I enjoyed every minute of it,. There were things that disappointed me for example every 2 or so months I would be assigned a new coach, an a majority of the time common ground was found and I was able to maintain a productive and open relationship with my coach. When it came to attendance I did everything I could to avoid missing time,. I lost both of my grandfather’s in a 4 month time frame , as well as my both of my best friends passed away within a few days of each other. Regardless I did my best to miss minimal time and kept in open communication with my current coach at the time. When placed on Roland’s team the first day on his team I was written up for these days I missed which at this point were 4 maybe 5 months prior. I explained the situation and all that I had gone through and still received a write up. I can’t say that I always got my entire scheduled shift in regularly, due to the loss of loved ones and my medical issues which wasn’t going very steady at the time. I used to get seizures a lot in the past and they had slowly started to come back again. Knowing I wasn’t 100 percent in compliance with my time I would always say yes to staying late or working extra time and or requested coverage. For this I assumed my shortcomings in lost time were understood and known that is was not job avoidance or laziness, I was actually going through some very hard times. I was then placed on another new team with a new coach. Srivendya aka coach Sri. I believe this was my 4th coach in the 6 or so months . Still my production didn’t change and I even did better in certain areas. How ever each coach having a different outlook on attendance and past situations still hovered over me as days continued. My seizures were getting worse and the medication I was on would practically tranquilize me. So as hard as I tryed it was enevitable I missed a day here and there,. Also in combination with the consistent system issues that would present themselves on a daily basis. . It took its toll on my attendance record. Still I did manage to make up a majority of the time and obtain a full time pay period. When Sri gave me a final written she stated that it was simply a formality and as long as there was improvement shown if I happened to get sick she would not fire me over one instance. Exact quote. Also maybe coincidence or not but it just so happend she gave me the final on the day before the Macy’s ramp down was announced. Knowing that being on a final in that situation I would not be reconsidered for re- assignment . And if terminated i would not be eligiable to recive any commisons owed to me. As it just so happens i was still owed the previous months commisons and had i been employed just 2 days longer the current month of commisons as well. She made it very urgent and immediate that I signed the final immediately. So the next week on Tuesday I had 102 fever and was not doing well at all . My shift was 655pm to 230am . I signed in on time and did everything I could to keep pressing forward ,.it got so bad that I could not even keep a coherent conversation with customers. I managed to find a co-worker to cover my shift from 10pm to 23o eos. And very very ill at 830 I signed off. At this point i was so ill i dont think i could have even told you the current day or month for that matter. I was borderline to the point of having a seizure..i called the Call out line. I was able to recover enough to work my shift the following day and even went the extra mile and on Thursday my first day off I on my own accord logged on to see if there might be extra help needed as it just so happens the line was down one agent and I was asked to log in for the remainder of the night. I believe the line room Mgr was Rachel . I worked til close which in theory made up the hours I lost from being sick that same week. So on Friday my second schudeled day off I received an email from Sri telling me I was terminated for attendance. No call , no vmail, after 2 year of dedicated employment and excellence in production and dedication i gave I got an email telling me I was fired. I’ve never felt more failure and depression than I feel for what I’ve lost with Sitel. I can’t believe after all I went through and how much of myself I put into my position there that I was being forsaken like this. Now a week before the 1st of the month (rent due) after 2 years I’m unemployed and have no source of income to feed myself much less ensure my roof over my head. . And I miss my job dearly. There was always talk that sitel is family that we were more than a number and a timecard..I’ll don’t have much family left but I do know that’s not how family treats each other. I haven’t received any type of explanation regarding my pay, unused vacation time , unpaid commissions , and equipment I assume had to be returned. I have 2 different contact numbers and 3 different emails . I know there is most likely no chance of getting my position/job back with Sitel , as much as I would give anything to have ,.I feel like it was planned or I was singled out and setup for failure ensuring I end up unemployed. I say this because during my first assignment with sitel under direct TV NFL campaign there was an incident in which I filed a complaint against coach Sri for her treatment towards me regarding system training that had to be completed for Dtv that if I hadn’t yet fully completed and how unprofessional she spoke towards me regarding that. She completely degraded me and went way out of line in the tone and manner of speaking. I filed that complaint with my current coach at the time Steve daley. I belive this was her way of retaliation towards me..and those actions as well as her management style intentionally created a hostile work environment. . In my 20 years of Sales and Customer service I have never felt so unheard , ignored, and devalued as this has left me. This is my formal request as to be informed what to expect as far as pay, i.e. not taken vacation, commission etc. . Also as how to return the equipment. I would also ask that I be reconsidered for rehire or possibly given one last chance as I know I wouldn’t mess it up. I am pretty much standing at losing everything I have without my job. The application process for a new position /job has been slow and dreadful. There’s almost nothing I wouldn’t do for my job back. And I believe my performance and dedication should have been the determining factor as to whether or not I was terminated. Of which I know it wasn’t, by the demeanor of how I was let go. If it matters I can provide medical doXXXXentation for my lost time and disability to prove my hardship. If offered I would have even taken FMLA to avoid losing my job. But that wasn’t ever brought up or mentioned. I belive there are certain laws that protect people such as myself we with ares medical disablity. And if I investigate those laws further I may find that there should have been the option for me to file for FMLA. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and I look forward to a response at your earliest convenience. Please note this is my third and final attempt to gain acceptable and just closure regarding this matter. I prefer not to take it to the next level of filing complaints with with the labor board and or the governing agency for Americans with disablities. As well ashe consults with legal representation. You may be within your legal rights to cheat me out of my very much earned commission how ever I have a pretty good feeling if reviewed by legal console there’s enough cause to show possible intent on sitel or sitel employees of discrimination or intentional financial reason to end end my employment. I also am formal requesting that sitel produce the signed doXXXXent of which states I am okay with forfeiture of commission and vacation time if terminated. I don’t recall signing that so called doXXXXent or agreement.
-Respectfully
