This kills me as I was always a big fan of this store. Until last week. Now that stores are closing, stealing by employees (Or corporate policy for all I know) apparently is acceptable. Buyer beware. Charming Charlie = thieves. Make sure you check the merchandise bagged before you leave the store. Went inti the W. Hartford, CT store with my daughter on 7/16/19 spent $200+. Got home, 2 of the 23 items missing. Went back “sorry, girl who was your cashier is not here. Store policy is we need to speak with her”. I left my phone number. Never heard back from anyone. Went back “”sorry, cashier said she didn’t see anything. Girl says she spoke with manager and the response was sorry, store liquidating nothing we can do”. What? Is this how you recuperate some of your losses by straight out stealing? Is it ok for employees to now steal? Whatever it is, it’s not right and it is a crime. It’s not hundreds of dollars but it is money I paid for merchandise that was never put in my bag. Yes, I had the receipt with check marks next to everything we did receive and clearly marked what we did not receive. #CharmingCharlie #thieves

Hello Charming Charlie, I’ve been working for your company for over 3 years while attending college. I work as a manager in your Wellington location and was also asked to help out at the Delray market place (your lowest rated store) because it was doing poor. Everything was going fine until I met the new GSM that the company brought in. She has only been at this location for one week and has already managed to verbally degrade all the associates, make one of them cry because she took a 5 minute break to take her medication, and has cut associates hours because she simply “does not like them”. Also, she told the associates they could NOT communicate with the costumers in any language but English, which is an excellent way to lose customers who do not speak English. I thought when this company would bring in a new GSM that they would know what they were doing but it appears they do not. Almost all of the staff will be quitting soon. Just letting you know why.
Sincerely,
your charming Charlie Employee

Just heartbroken…. Our daughter gave 2.5 years of her young life to this company. When managers were dropping like flies, she stepped up and took on rolls she never should have as a new associate. Because of her hard work and dedication, she was made a lead, then an assistant manager. Six months ago, she entered into her freshman year in college. We made a deal with her and said she could continue working at CC but would have to cut her hours drastically as school came first. She went from 40 hours per week down to 15 and filled in whenever needed. This was working out perfectly for her as she attended a local college and was able to do both. A few months ago, the store manager hired a new asst manager in our daughters place since she had to go part time. Our daughter happily handed over the keys, helped train the new asst. mnger and went completely part time due to more classes the next quarter. Unfortunately, this new asst manager displayed EXTREME “ex-wife syndrome” towards our daughter. Anything and everything our daughter did, she would get mad at. She reported our daughter several times, called her a bully when she was training her, refused to work with her and got another assistant manager who was new as well on board with not working with her. Due to these bully accusations, our daughter couldn’t be on the work schedule anytime these two asst managers were working. This asst manager even went as far as accusing her of fraud. Me think thou protests to much!! So, thanks to the jealous new assistant manager, a store manager who couldn’t handle the situation and see the history and heart of our daughter, she left (more like was forced since she was taken off the schedule) her all time favorite job today, completely broken. Redmond, WA Charming Charlie,,, you have some growing up to do.. BIG TIME!! I will be telling everyone I can about this!! 🙁

Hey Charlie… it appears it’s time you dust off the original business plan I created for Charming Charlie back in April of 2004 (if you still have it) and return to what made CC successful. Do you remember the two categories I told you never to get involved with… let me remind you, “Apparel & Shoes”. I believe the first store I put together and opened for you was your last 4 million dollar store. Over the years I have always chuckled at your taking all the credit for the business model. Good luck putting it all back together.

I was an employee at Charming Charlie in October 2017. I was hired to seasonal associate. I quit after working 3 shifts due to rude assistant managers and staff. I had never felt more uncomfortable at a work place. I never met the Store manager but I was given her email. I emailed her that I will not be returning because it was not a great fit for me. I asked if I will be compensated for the hours I worked. 2 months later and I still have not received a check. I will never give my business to the company after the experience I had during a shift with an assistant manager. Talking about customers through the ear pieces, following a black man around because he might be stealing, patting me down WHEN I HAD NOTHING BUT MY KEYS AND CELLPHONE IN HAND. Disgusting. I would like to have my check and be forever done with this company.

Charming Charlie has very rude and poor managers who do not know people; in today’s world; charming Charlie has assistant managers that are immature and belittle their employees; it’s amazing how this company has grown and prospered from the abuse the employees have received. God don’t sleep ; any giant can fall ; in a biblical sense in the Bible; the story of David and Goliath is a prime example. Charlie has cute lil items and women love accessories and jewels but not at the expense of belittling women to make a profit; corporate need to stop and investigate their stores for the abuse that occurs in their stores; especially at the Las Vegas store on Las Cegas Blvd.

TOTALLY FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!
I have been dealing with Charming Charlies for months now with no results on an incident that happened over the 4th of July weekend.
July 3rd I had my cell phone in between my legs so it would not get wet from the pool. A while later I felt a burning sensation and went to investigate an noticed that my legs were severely red. The next day my legs had second degree burns on them. I visited my local ER for treatment. I could not figure out how I received these horrific burns until I noticed my cell phone case no longer had all the liquid inside. The really weird thing was there was NO CRACKS.
I contacted Charming Charlies to advise what happened on 7/6. The returned my call on 7/13 and sent me some paperwork to fill out and a prepaid envelope to return my case.
The insurance company called me on 7/27 advising that they had never received any of the pictures, doctor bills , lost wages ect!
I was upset at this point and advised them that I had already forwarded the requested information weeks ago. Their answer “well we never received it”.
The insurance company called me on 8/3 and stated that they did receive the pictures and that my case was under review and advised it would be 30 days until I hear from them again. Today is 10/4 and still no one has reached out to me.
I’m so upset and feel that they do not care what happened to me because of a defective product they are selling. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else. I am posting the pictures to ensure that no one will suffer the pain I had from this type of cell phone case!

I was very happy for the opportunity to learn the business aspects of this very unique retail company. Unfortunately, I am writing this resignation letter due to the outcome of how a mistake I made because I didn’t make sure a transaction was all the way completed, was being handled.
Honestly, I cannot pin point how the incident happened on May 26, 2016 that was pertaining to incomplete transaction. It was a very busy day that day. It was only Ms. Vargas and I working that morning. I was on the register constantly throughout the day, assisting to customers, and working on small projects that Ms. Vargas had me doing throughout the day while she was upfront of the store working on the laptop. She was pretty much on the computer most of the day. I was very busy and the only time she would assist me was if I radioed her. There was no team work or cooperation especially when it is to assist customers and make money at the same time.
Neither the sr. assistant manager, Jasmine Vargas, or myself know exactly how it occurred. She even explained verbally that she doesn’t really know how it occurred yet did not write that particular statement on the write up that I received on the 26th of May 2016. However, since we both do not really know how it happened yet the assistant manager, Jasmine Vargas, wrote a very sabotaging statement of how she assumes hypothetically it took place. I did not argue with her about the write-up. But after I heard what she wrote on the write-up is when I decided to put my two weeks’ notice in and later decided to resign today on May 27, 2016. Summer is very busy for me because of the business I run. So that is another reason why I am resigning as well. To focus on my small business.
Also, I do not even know why every time I come in to work, part time, that there is always a divide. I do not really know why they would hire me if that is the way I would be treated. I haven’t been working there that long to feel uncomfortable. However, I am uncomfortable working there. It has only been one month and some days. If Ms. Vargas did not feel like I am a good fit. Then they should not have made a decision for me to receive a second interview with the Store Manager, Sarah Burpo. Ms. Burpo was very nice and friendly with me since I got hired. I felt more welcomed from and by her. Being that she was the one who made a decision to hire me. I appreciate it very much for the job opportunity. Thanks again. Sadly, I do not desire to work in a uncomfortable, unwelcoming working environment. Godspeed

After reporting unethical and illegal behavior I was written up for false accusations. Further the workplace was made to be incredibly hostile until I was forced to quit or be fired.
Now my final pay is being held without cause. It should have been received April 29th and had not been received nor am I receiving answers despite numerous attempts.

am going to contact Corp concerning a return. I sent a return about 60 days ago and I have not heard a response. I purchased a purse from your store and when I opened it I thought it was ok. I cut the tag off and put it in the closet.
When I went to use the purse the tassel came off and the little piece that holds the tassel together. I put it in the box and could not find the receipt. I explained that I just got done treating for breast cancer and I had it ready to go but I kept forgetting about it. I also stated it you wanted to replace it that would be fine.
i have not heard anything from you concerning the purse. i feel i should have heard something back by now. i certainly hope someone did not get the purse and letter and thought it would be ok to ignore it and me. i look forward to a phone call back. My husband paid 20 dollars to ship it back. Please call me @ 302-242-XXXXX

After working for Charming Charlie for two years receiving many accolades I was terminated after becoming a whistle blower for the company. While taking in stride blatant harassment from my managers through phone calls, false write ups, and deleting hours worked from my time sheet. The managers at the XXXXberland Mall store 0251 have made me a victim of wage theft instead of letting me move on from the company in good spirits and professionally. I have never been attacked by a company but this spiteful injustice should not happen to anyone else.
Jeanette West says
I’m hearing this company wide. If you call the hotline you get terminated.

Charming Charlie fan of Business model and merchandising and you! Wow your 37!
Part-time sales (unofficially #1) just ask Amanda or Kara or Megan at Station Park, Utah. Charmer of the month after just 4 months. Had to be let go due to healing for back surgery (fluke it happened). My favorite job ever and managers and product. I spent more than I made lol. I’m a terminal Mom (someday in the next 10 years) I’ve had a lung transplant so I was upfront about my limits and did great for 14 months. Then, my iron went low. They held my job due to employee and other management feedback. Then I had the bad, random luck right after returning. But now, I’m not getting hired back and I know something’s wrong. My two fellow workers and now mgt. just say sorry Jude, love you talk to our store manager. But first she was out sick (very sick) and then just back so I’m afraid to press her and further reduce my chances of ever being re-hired. I love this business with a passion and our people and sales and I come from an entrepreneurial background and think you really are brilliant! I’m also a marketing consultant with 20 years Bus/Mrktg exp. I just thought I would at least say way to go Sir. Although I could be your Aunt (I raised my two nephews your age-Nintendo and all) I just want my job back or a second chance if I said something taken in offense. Congrats on your New York Flagship store! I achieved a flagship Co. For my Dad, Caterpillar Equipment. Then I left to raise my daughter now 18. Nothing has made me happier since my lung disaster and no matter what I want you to know that working for you was an absolute pleasure. I hope I get the opportunity again at my store or a new one in my town of Layton with your goal of opening new stores. I’m going to visit my manager or call and just ask. What’s wrong? Wish me luck. It means a lot to me. And best wishes in your continued success! Truly, Jude Marchant judemarchantXXXXXXXX

I completed an application for “Visual Lead” at the Birmingham, AL The Summit Charming Charlie location on Tuesday, June 23, 2015; I immediately received an application confirmation. Saturday, June 27, 2015, Dave, from Charming Charlie Bessemer (the new Birmingham Summit manager is training in Tuscaloosa, AL), scheduled an interview with me for the following Tuesday, June 29, 2015. I interviewed with Dave, who asked me very basic questions until he prompted my own questions: I asked, “Who is currently fulfilling the position as Visual Lead”; Dave was puzzled replying that there is no such position. I have been grossly mislead to believe I applied for a keyholder position. Dave said all “Charmers” have the same responsibilities, and a keyholder visual lead job would go to a more seasoned employee; he had an employee in mind saying she’s “very visual”. Dave offered minimum wage saying I needed to contact HR for the job posting misrepresentation. Dave took no responsibility and made me feel like it was my fault for applying for an unavailable job, though “Visual Lead” is still open for the Birmingham, AL location where I interviewed.

This is the link to the supposedly unavailable job. No one from Charming Charlie has contacted me, nor has anyone removed the misleading job opening.

Dear Mr. Chanaratsopon,
I am a customer and a huge fan of Charming Charlie. I shop your Salinas Ca. store, Colorado store, and San Francisco store. My everyday perfume is Lace Royale, I LOVE it and others do as well. I have so many pieces of jewelry, sandals, purses and pieces of select clothing and scarves that I can’t live without. I can not say this about any other store I had ever been in and I shop at the best. I love how every color has it’s own select area, this makes shopping so much easier and fun! Your merchandise is top quality workmanship, impeccable colors and spirit uplifting. I’m a walking advertizement for Charming Charlies, strangers always comment on my accessories and clothing and I point the way with directions to Charlie. If I could wish for anything it would be that Charming Charlies offered shoes and sandals with a 2 1/2″ to 2 3/4″height, the 3″ and beyond hurt my legs and other women that shop at Charlies say the same thing, the heals are too high for normal people. We all love heals but too high is not any fun, it hurts. I wanted to buy many of your shoes with heals that matched the purses but I could not, they were too high so i bought your purse but looked elsewhere for shoes to match the purses. This is why I am writing to you today. Your shoes and purses match so perfect in every way yet normal women won’t buy the 3″ heal because it hurts to wear them. I am 5’5″ tall and 115 lbs. and in great shape, but I am realistic and like comfort when I walk. If you had 2 1/2″ to 2 3/4″ heals I would buy every pair in your store and so would other women because 2 1/2″ to 2 3/4″ heals are realistic and comfortable for everyday and holidays and travel. I will always shop at Charlies, I love your store but for now your high heals are off my list and so are your purses because no other store can match your purses to shoes they have. I am very disappointed.
A regular customer and fan of Charlies and always will be,
Best Regards,
Aleta

Hello Charming Charlie,
I currently work for the store in Reno, NV. For the past few months, my hours have been drastrically cut and now my hours for the week total 5 hours. At 8.25 an hour, thats only $41 a week. That means I’m making about $82 every 2 weeks. My bills wont even be remotely covered by this. How do you expect anyone to make a living off this? Ive tried asking my managers why they cut my hours but their response was that they “feel im getting worn out.” With only having 5 hours a week, I dont see how anyone could be “worn out”.
Ashley says
I am dealing with the same at my location! they have favorites. Im going to my district manager and HR.

The hours and pay are DISGUSTING!!!!! Even as a manager. The way the company operates proves that it will never keep good help. There is ZERO opportunity for growth and you will feel belittled and worthless when you ask “why?” Or “how?”
I hope you consider a career that makes you feel truly fabulous over this joke. It was the best decision I ever struggled with & made! (:

Is there anyone that handles complaints from this company? All I keep getting is BS RESPONSES on the phone and on FB…Placed for the 3rd time. Feb 15,16 and 17. Ridiculous. Tell me something I don’t already know about my order like what could your manager on shift could of done to fix the situation maybe make sure my order went out TODAY for my trouble of calling in 3 times. One of the times with my credit card company on the phone to make sure the order went thru only for your company to cancel the order the day after. Make sure you have management on staff THAT ACTUALLY HAS THE POWER TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE SITUATION RATHER THAN READ ME THE STANDARD CS SCRIPT BS.
Lola says
OMG! This happened to me this weekend. They are holding the funds on my account but cancelled my order and didn’t even give me any notification. When I called and asked what happened they just said that the charge couldn’t be authorized which is complete untrue hence the pending charge on my account. I even called my CC company to ask them and they said that there was no issue so it is something that Charming Charlie has done. SO, now I am without my order and without my finds until the pending charge drops from my account. I am so dissapointed!
