Vroom was founded in 2013 in New York City, New York. The company operates an eCommerce marketplace where clients can buy, sell, and finance used cars.
The company offers financing from more than 30 banks. Car prices are non-negotiable, but all vehicles undergo a “reconditioning” process and a 90 day bumper to bumper warranty. Vehicles are delivered directly to clients in all 50 states.
Vroom was listed in Forbes magazine in 2015 as one of the Hottest eCommerce Start Ups. In 2015, the company had $900 million in annual revenue. Vroom’s refurbishing plant is in Stafford, Texas, and headquarters are located in Grand Prairie, Texas.
In January 2021, Vroom placed an ad during the Superbowl game for addtional name recognition and awareness.
I contacted Vroom 1/30/21 to buy a car. Vroom was very prompt on taking my money but practically stoped all communication once it came to delivery. They told me the car was 6 hours from me in the same state. They wouldn’t let me pick it up. Vroom said it would be delivered on the 15th so I took that day off work. Well on the 15th nothing but crickets. I called Vroom. They said “sorry for the miscommunication, it will be the 17th.” Okay, well what can I do. So I take the 17th off and what do you know the 17th hits and no car, not call, no email saying it’s not coming. I called Vroom and they said “we are so sorry, it looks like it’s the 18th now.” When I asked why they didn’t notify me they couldn’t answer that. Well the 18th is here and still… no car, no call or no email letting me know what’s going on. I call Vroom again. This time they said we have no idea when the car is going to be deliver. The facility the car is as is closed due to weather.” I laughed and said “the car is on the west coast in Las Vegas at least that’s what the ad said and the rep confirmed that when I was doing the paperwork. I’m in Reno, the roads are clear and good in Nevada and California.” She then said “the car was moved and that facility is closed due to weather.” Wait what? Vroom moved the car from Nevada to Texas for inspection and was going to bring it back to Nevada but it got snowed in while in Texas. At least that’s what I’m being told. Vroom now has know idea when the car will be delivered. They can’t even refund my money because conveniently to them the department that handles returns and refunds is closed and they don’t know when it will reopen.
Vroom is very prompt on the paperwork and taking your money with great communication but once they are paid and when it come to delivery nothing but crickets.
I strongly recommend looking at a different dealer. It will be far less frustration, anxiety and stress. Vroom as absolutely no idea what they are doing and they will feed you BS to try and cover their tracks.
It’s now 2/18/21 and at this point I have no ETA on car delivery and they can’t issue refund so I can take my business elsewhere.
Update: 2/22/21 I had to call Vroom today for an update because they won’t call me. Vroom told me they have no idea where my car is and can NOT get ahold of the shipper. It’s been 20+ days since the paperwork was completed and the large down payment was received and verified by Vroom. I have been completely left in the dark by Vroom. They have not yet had a manager contact me.
This has not been a good experience. I have had to wait 4 months and I still do not tags. I’ve been told over 10 times that a manager would call me. Buyers be where!
Absolute disgrace of a company… No temporary tags and nobody cares!! Forget retrieving your Tags and registration… This company is an absolute mess!!
Worst experience I have ever had with any business. Stay far, FAR away!!! They picked up my trade-in with no prior notification, just showed up at my house, leaving me no car. Then missed the date/time delivery appointments that they set FIVE times. It’s been four weeks and they have yet to issue a check to pay off my trade-in. I’ve called multiple times and have spent hours upon hours on hold. No one can give an answer and just passes you on. I just spent over 2 hours and 40 minutes on hold, and briefly talked to three separate representatives, who could do nothing but escalate a ticket. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told customer service was going to be closing soon, so I would have to be called back tomorrow. I still have no answers and have made multiple calls over the last 12 days about this exact situation.
Never never never!!!!!!!!
NEVER BUY FROM VROOM BUYERS BEWARE
I purchased a 2016 Land Rover from them and received a truck with bald tires NYS stated they would do me a favor and pass me buy would need new tires in about 2 months bad brakes and and rotors scraped two weeks after driving I got 2 lights in dash for brakes being past point of safety. Also in the second week I started to notice every right turn the vehicle would rock and and steering would shake. 1 key sent When I addresses all the issues they told me I could go get it looks T but would cost a $50 deductible mind u it’s been 2 weeks . Was told that the tires only need to legal enough to pass they would not replace them brakes I was told I drove the truck past 7 days so it’s considered wear and tear at this point. READY FOR MORE. I told them I don’t want the vehicle come get it and I was then told they couldn’t because they never registered it I would have to wait for the plates. Few more weeks pass still no plate no reg calling this point daily for answers nobody knows anything managers are always in meetings no one calls you back. Few weeks later truck still sitting I buy a new one from a more reputable place I joe have 2 new trucks. 2 months later Land Rover still sitting in my driveway with paper expired plates still arguing to get this piece of crap picked up looking for lawyer and corporate phone number. Will update soon

Have you been able to get ahold of anyone.
They sent us a car with the wrong Vin# that was reported stolen. I can’t get anyone on the phone.
I’ve purchased 3 vehicles from there and the first one went smoothly now the last two has been a disaster. I’ve come to realize that nobody knows what they are doing in purchasing and administration. On one vehicle it took them longer then agreed to get the vehicle and upon delivery the car look like it had been in a storm now we are dealing with some more bs on this last purchase and sale. They lost our paper work and had to resubmit it to us to do over again after the vehicle was already sold to use and the vehicle we sold to them hasn’t been paid off and it’s been over thirty days. You will never gets straight answer and nobody ever call back.
The worst ever. My vehicle I just received is not even safe to drive. Won’t pass my state inspection so there’s no way they inspected it. The media is going to be doing a sorry on my vehicle after I contacted them. I have all the proof video everything. I’m returning the vehicle but am out 500 for delivery fee. Better then having a20000 dollar lemon that could hurt me and my family. Just some of the problems, type has small hole, sunroof leaks bad, air bag sensor bad, breaks and pads wore bad, cigarette smell horrible in fabric, window mirror having, air condition goes hot after 5 minutes, leaky out oil from somewhere, type pressure sensor bad and not reading proper. Just a nightmare. I may have lost 500 dollars but at least we’re not stuck with this junk car. Save the time and go to a dealership.
Never, NEVER, go through Vroom to buy a vehicle. Liars, scammers and won’t return your calls. They are the worst car company in the nation.
I Agreed. They still have our money for tax tags and title that we have not received we have temporary tags that have expired and we are scared to drive the car because we do not need to get tickets. So it sits in our garage
This company is so unprofessional. They rush you to provide documents needed, then ignore your calls when following up. I am beyond happy I never went through with any purchase. Vroom train your call center agents they are giving your company a horrible name and reputation.
Never order a vehicle from here. They never keep their word. The corporate office will not accept your calls. And it takes at lest a month after you sent them your money to get your vehicle. This was the worst buying experience of my life, hands down.
Never, and I repeat, never buy with these people.
And when you have a bad experience with them, not once will they offer you anything to fix the situation or compensate you for your time and effort.
Never again. Go to a dealership and you’ll drive away the same day with your car.
Received my Honda CR-V December 28, 2018. I was given one key. Around Jan 2 or 3rd I called Vroom and asked for the 2nd key. I was told that was what the owner submitted. I
Then went to Honda Round Rock Texas and paid for a new key of $130.00. A day later I received an email from Sheila Lentini that she was sending me another key. I called Sheila and after a few days was told I could not be reimbursed for the key. I am asking for my money of $130.00 to be reimbursed. This isn’t good customer service practice.
I am requesting the e-mail address for the following:
CEO: Paul J. Hennessy
