Vectren Corporation was formed when Indiana Gas Company and Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Company merged in 2000. That same year, the company acquired natural gas distributor Dayton Power and Light.
Today those companies continue as subsidiaries Vectren North, Vectren South, and VEDO.
Vectren Corporation distributes natural gas to more than 1 million commercial and individual customers across two states, distributes electricity to 142,900 customers, and has 1,300 MW of generating capacity in Indiana.
The company trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol VVC, is a member of the S&P 400, is #842 in the Fortune 1000, has 5,500 employees, and had $2.61 billion in revenue in 2014.
