Godfather's Pizza History

Godfather’s Pizza was founded in 1973 by William Theisen in Omaha, Nebraska. The company is a privately owned chain of casual pizza restaurants. The first franchise occurred in 1974.  The chain was sold several times, including to Pillsbury in the 1980’s. Today, the company is privately owned by the current CEO Ron Gartlan.

Godfather’s Pizza offers the usual pizzas, breadsticks,  and pasta, but unlike many pizza chains, the company also offers an extensive salad bar and a buffet on weekends.

The company is known for its advertisements featuring imitations of Marlon Brando’s “godfather” character. Typical lines include “A pizza you can’t refuse” and “I know your neighborhood”.

Like to complain about the godfathers in Kalamazoo on Cork & Sprinkle Rd. The air conditioning is not working corporate won’t believe the employees that the air conditioning won’t work. My sister is from out of town in for a vacation for its her favorite place until now she went last week same thing hotter than heck good on buffet even faster had had kids with her they even complained almost passed out it’s pretty bad no air in there in the summer time. The employees said to complain because corporation won’t listen to them wow really. I come for vacation next month i won even try to come u already lost me as a customer sad very sad.

I called my local Godfather’s in St. Peter, MN to order a take out pizza. I explained to the young man (and I’m sorry I didn’t get his name) that I had recently had dental surgery and that I was so hungry for pizza. I asked if he could cut the pepperoni in smaller pieces…but also told him I understood if he couldn’t. He assured me my request would be done. When I went to pick up my small pizza, he was proud to show me that he also had the pizza cut into many little slices that he thought would be easier for me to eat. It might not sound like a big deal, but to me it was! In this day and age, a young employee like this should be applauded! We had a fun conversation before I left with my perfect pizza……..Oh, and I just found my receipt….his name was Devon! Please make sure he gets some recognition!

I have $50 in Godfathers Pizza gift cards and The Godfather’s in Winona MN closed. I went to Red Wing MN Godfathers and was told I cannot use the gift cards there. Where can I use these? How sad that Godfathers in Winona closed and how sad that I cannot use the gift cards my mother paid good $$ for.

I ordered pizza, salad, dessert on 3/9/2018 on the saddle creek store in Omaha, Ne. When I arrived the clerk told me they had to shut down the salad bar because some kids were not behaving around it. I appreciate the honesty and obvious for health reasons they shut it down. Since I ordered it online she could not refund me. I asked how long and was told after she talked to her manager 3-5 business days it would be credited to my account. I then asked if she could show proof I was going to be refunded. She wrote on receipt paper $3.99 refund for salad. What I thought was odd that they had no extra food in the back to make a separate salad. You know, something out of the fridge in the back. I can’t believe that a restaurant would not of had refills for their salad bar. It was only like 630pm. Anyway, it’s a week later and no refund. I called the store and asked the clerk if you order on line and do not get a item how long does it take for the refund. She went and asked her manager Paige. She said her manager told her 3-4 business days. I then told the clerk it had been over a week. Paige then got on the phone and told me ( mind you that she already was the one seconds ago to say 3-4 business days) online orders can never be refunded unless it’s the whole order. The store is not allowed to give you money for online orders. I asked why they didn’t tell me this last week ( remember also Paige just gave out false information seconds ago and is changing her own story). She said the clerk probably didn’t know. I said she asked the manager and wrote it down for me. She said she would just give me a credit for the next time. I said there would not be a next time. I just wanted the card credited. I told her if someone gives you money you legally need to give them something in return. That did not happen. I was given false information twice. She then told me to call corporate and gave me a number. The first number she gave me was disconnected. I called back and she gave me the number that she had to look up online. It’s a shame that Godfathers can’t afford to give back refunds when they can’t produce the goods. I wonder if every online ordering business does this… I think not. Most online businesses I’ve dealt with refund in stores or on line. Godfathers sure is taking advantage of this situation and probably making a good profit off of their customers. Never eating or ordering from Godfathers again. People beware of ordering online from them.

I have always loved Godfathers Pizza, until yesterday. I was trying to order your President day special. A one topping small pizza for $5 and a monkey bread for $1. I was having a trouble ordering online, so I called the N. 108th store to order. I believe the young woman’s name was Christy.. I was explaining my situation, when she abruptly cut me off and told me that it was an online coupon and that she couldn’t help me. 1: As being a former employee of Godfathers Pizza, I know that is not how you are to treat customers. 2: I have ordered online before and the few times that I have had problems ordering online, I then call the store and have always reached someone friendly and willing to help out and take my order. 3: If this is how your management/associates are allowed to treat its customers, then as a company, you should reevaluate your treatment of your loyal or new customers. Again, I have always loved godfathers pizza and never have had a bad experience. I will attempt to order from that store again in the future, should I receive poor service again. You will lose a long-time customer and I will never recommend you to anyone.

This was my most recent experience at Godfathers pizza on west 41st st. Sioux falls. First i tried to order by phone, kept trying, no on would answer. Last week tried to do the same, Couldnt order online or by phone. So, this time, l drove to the store and ordered in person, then ran an errand. Came back, waited and waited, kept telling me it would be 2 to 3 minutes. After waiting at least 10 more, they then told me the person ringing up the meal, ordered a plain cheese pizza, mine was the supreme combo. So, then had to wait another 10 minutes for that. The customer service at this store is beyond ridiculous. It was a complete clusterf**k. I don’t know how this store can remain open. Godfathers is my favorite pizza, and it was good. But how ridiculous is this place. Oh, and after i had to go t0 the store to order, i went thru the drive thru to pick it up, there was a sign on the window saying you would have to call the store to tell them you were in the drive thru, but, they don’t answer the phone, so i still had to pull around, park, go in, and that’s when they told me they made the wrong pizza. So frustrating, is it possible to contact the franchise owner, i am sure they would like to know how this place is handled. I have never seen such a terribly run business, they are almost like they are trying to sabotage the place, i cant understand how a place can stay in business being run like this, HELP!

Ordered online from store #667, large double pepperoni&largepepperoni,green peppers,onions. Got a large regular pepperoni& large pepperoni with half green peppers onions. When I said something to the woman she just gave me a dumb look, no offer to make the orders over or correct themselves!!! If this is what this new location has to offer it will be closing soon. I just want what I paid for is that to much to ask??

recently ate or tried.. large pizza and breadstix from holiday gas station in lanse mi.we couldn’t even eat one slice between me my wife and son…my son will normally eat about anything,however breadsticks are his favorite snax. them also followed the large pizza into the trash…maybe got a bad pizza and breadstix?? don’t know because I will never try it again..sorry but it was by far the worst pizza ive ever tried.this store just opened recently in town and the local folks I have talked with also say they didn’t have a nice experience.hope you can resolve issues.thankyou for your time,a response would be appreciated or refund?? derek

I bought a Dons lite Baja taco pizza. With only thin crust I thought 25 dollars for a large was some what expensive when a jumbo combo is only 29 dollars and original crust. I got that pizza because it was only 420 mg sodium. It was tasty.

Please bring back Godfather’s Pizza to the Charlotte, NC area because in when l was in high school in the 1980s that was the best pizza to me. The price did not matter because you was the best pizza in town. Thank you very much for your time and hope that you would deeply consider this. Sincerely, Tim a big fan of Godfather’s!!!

Placed an order for delivery and said I would pay cash. The driver showed up and I gave him my $40 (the ticket was $21.39) and he had $5 on him. So I had to pay by credit card which is what I wanted to avoid in the first place. Who sends a driver out know that someone is paying with cash and doesn’t have change? Lucky enough I’m an honest person and called to pay with my credit card and it took 9 minutes just to do that.
I order from that location all the time and today has put a bad taste in my mouth. Is this how you normally do business?

Last night my girls and i went to the Spirit Lake Godfathers for supper. We ordered our food..the screen was all correct. My taco pizza was supposed to have no tomatoes..30 minutes later it came with NO toppings. I returned it asking for my topping with no tomatoes please. It arrived with tomatoes. I told Greg the employee that i requested no tomatoes. He then took the tomatoes off my pizza with his bare hands and handed me my pizza. I could not believe my eyes, or eat the pizza. It was even worse that he didn’t see anything wrong with his actions. I have always enjoyed Godfathers pizza but will not be going back there.

Went to Godfathers tonight on 108th and Fort. Tried to call in a pick up order ahead of time, but they wouldn’t let me due to another storm coming??? Well, no more storms in the area. I get here and the place is a mess. No organization. The cooks in the back are shouting XXXXX this and that. Everyone could here them in the restaurant. Well, I’m still sitting here a half hour later and no pizza. What a joke! Have not been offered anything for inconvenience. Guess I’ll just keep waiting for my pizza…..

Can you please open a full store in Warrensburg Missouri? You have a godfathers in a gas station here. REALLY needs a change in management. I called last night on a Friday night at 630pm. Couldn’t serve me a pizza. Out of dough really pizza place out of dough. It’s happened to girlfriend and me least 4 times. Other times out of ingredients, ham or whatever. I honestly feel if we call for a pizza we only got a 50/50 XXXXX of getting one. It’s terrible. Food if you get it is fine. SERIOUSLY NEEDS looking into. They are not doing your franchise justice at all. Seems they couldn’t care less.

The covering that is placed upon the taco pizza for delivery does not work. When I tried to remove it, the cheese and lettuce stuck to it and made big mess. There has to be a better way to keep the top of the pizza from hitting the inside top of the box. Either use a higher box or use an effective plastic, three pronged tower type rig to prevent it. The pizza is great, but using that covering sucks…

Tonight we ordered carry out from the Lancaster, Ky location and it was horrible! First upon arrival we checked the pizzas and one was wrong. After waiting for a new one to be made we get home to see a horrible looking pizza. We had ordered the golden crust and received what appeared to be thin. We very dissatisfied with our pizzas and we not be a returning customer. Management wasn’t concerned with the wrong pizza being handed out to us and the little girl who took the order seemed bothered when we brought the error to her attention. unsatisfactory
