Drago’s Seafood Restaurant was founded by Drago and Klara Cvitanovich in 1969. This couple wanted to create the most unique seafood based restaurant in the world. Drago was known for hand picking oysters himself daily and keeping them alive in the oyster bar until they were ordered.
The company has expanded to four locations with 3 in Louisiana and one in Mississippi. There are about 400 full time employees. While Drago himself no longer hand picks the oysters, his son and extended family still run this family owned chain of restaurants.
Drago’s Seafood Restaurant is known for charbroiled oysters, lobsters, crabs, salads, and French bread with dipping sauce. The company also offers a gluten free menu option, banquet facilities, and off site catering. Unlike many other restaurants, none of the Drago’s locations will accept reservations at any time, with the exception of banquets and catering.

On Friday, October 15th, I ordered a shrimp platter and an oyster platter from Drago’s Lafayette. I have eaten seafood from Drago’s in New Orleans on several occasions, but this was my first Lafayette experience, and I was extremely disappointed. The oysters were rubbery and in my opinion, undercooked. In no way worth the money spent. I will NOT be returning.

Was excited to try dragos for the first time due only to be extremely disappointed wasting almost $70 and being forced to tip a waitress that messed up my order more than once. She was in such a rush, not paying attention that she brought me a completely different plate and by the time I finally received the correct item, everyone was finished eating and I had to get mine to go. Bread was not brought to the table until the end of our meal, no refills, and after asking for items and never receiving them,we just decide to leave instead. Then after all of that I was still forced into topping the horrible service a 15% tip! We will NEVER waste our time or money on this place again after the way we were treated. If you want the food you order on time and good service, I suggest going just about anywhere but here. This was by far the worst experience

For the busiest times of the year, we can understand that a 30-min wait is not that long. But when you’ve worked in a restaurant as a hostess and a server, saw at least 10 parties that got sat after us including one bribing party that had tipped $100 to get sat right away (which is understandable because I would do that too), and been told at least 3 times after following up on our table that it’s still being clean, a 30-min is THAT long. If it wasn’t for the good quality service from our server and good food, I would’ve followed through with my plan to speak to the manager immediately. It’s just a shame to think how excited we were to finally try Drago’s for the first time after ordering online numerous times just to be left waiting for our never ending dirty table.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my first visit to Drago’s restaurant. Drago’s restaurant came highly recommended to me by a few coworkers prior to my visit to New Orleans. I proceeded to order my meal which was the Drago’s Mixed Grill. For starters, the menu was misleading by saying it came with a Cajun cream sauce. When I think of cream sauce, I think of a white alfredo style sauce and not a brown sauce that looks like a gravy for seafood. As I proceed to eat my food, I notice that the shrimp is missing. My meal should not have come to the table incomplete. By the time I received my shrimp. Everyone in my party was done eating and ready to leave the restaurant and I hadn’t even gotten all of my meal. This was a very poor first experience. I told the waitress about the issue and she told me the manager was willing to give me 15% off. This was not acceptable. During this whole time, the manager never bothered to come over to the table to speak to me about the issue, i actually had to request for him to come after we had already received the bill. This was very disrespectful that the manager of a restaurant did not have the decency to follow up with the complaint of a patron. The managers name is Andrew Diamontopoulos (or at least that is what he told me) at the New Orleans location. This incident happened on Saturday, October 18, 2017.
