Circle K History

Circle K was founded in El Paso, Texas, in 1951 when Fred Hervey purchased three “Kay’s” food stores. He simply put a circle around the letter “K” and left it at that. The company went through numerous acquisitions over the years and today belongs to Canadian firm Alimentation Couche-Tard.

Today, the company has more than 8,000 locations in 10 countries, many of them franchises. The company operates a chain of convenience stores with many offering gasoline, propane refueling, and bill paying services.

The company is still expanding, with the first location in Costa Rica opening in 2015, and stores in Canada and Scandanavia being rebranded with the Circle K logo.

Tonight again I went to purchase a 6 pack of beer and again the price shown on the shelf
5.99 was not what the clerk rang up. It was 6.99, only a dollar more but I wonder how many other people didn’t catch this mistake and overpaid unknowingly. this seems like false advertising to me and quite annoying ! This has happened perhaps 3-4 times this year alone and at different stores.

And as always the store clerk told me it didn’t matter because they were not allowed to charge
the price on the shelf if it was different. I’m 55 yrs old and this is the only store I have ever had this
problem with not honoring an advertised price. Once again we’re talking 1 dollar not a lot of money.

I’m sending a copy of this to the local Better Business Bureau and between your company and them
hopefully this issue will be resolved. If someone does not reply to this issue I’ll just let the local news
know about this for a slow news day. Good day

As of this date 9/29/2017 There are two managers at Circle K in Coolidge Arizona that are scheduling my daughter to work for 2/ 3hr. shifts and will not give my daughter more hours unless she agrees to be available 24/7 to come in to work. I believe there is a law against this. They (marketing manager and the made to go manager) get mad at her for not being awake at 9 am to take their calls so she can be called into work instead of being scheduled and told her that’s how she (my daughter) gets more hours so my daughter asked for a transfer that was eagerly approved by the made to go manager of the Superior store and was denied by the marketing manager of the Coolidge store saying that she had to move to the town of Superior before she could be transferred, this is not true. She then stated that she( Marketing Manager) needed to hire more employees before she (my daughter) could transfer but turned around and said she (my Daughter) was not good enough to transfer to another store. This manager also stated that because my daughter was not willing to go work at yet a third separate store to “use initiative and clean it up” that she did not deserve to transfer. My daughter was sent to this third separate store in Casa Grande, Arizona previously to cover shifts. The store was in disarray and had expired food on the shelves for sale to customers and spent the entire shift cleaning and restocking the food in a store she was not hired for; she did not want to go back because of the state of the store. These are personal attacks against a young unknowledgeable dedicated employee. I personally heard the whole conversation via speaker phone. A person cannot live on 6-10 hours of work per week. Is this how Circle K treats all of their employees~ not in Coolidge, Arizona. P.S. It should also be noted that the marketing manger in Coolidge, AZ refused to give my daughter the number for Human Resources when she (my daughter) stated she was wanted to file a grievance and needed to contact Circle K Human Resources.

I stop on a regular basis for morning coffee at the circle k on 953 W Nmisila Rd. Akron, Ohio and 8 out 10 times at 7a.m. they have 2 to 3 employees and every coffee container is empty. Please explain to me why in the world a place that is heavily advertising great morning coffee never actually has coffee available. With the amount of employees on staff it seems to me that hot coffee at rush hour would be priority. Poor management skills and frankly I now drive out of my way to speedway for my morning cup of Joe. I do this because I know they will have fresh coffee and great service. It would be wise to speak with management and find out why this store is to lazy to have coffee in the morning rush hour times. I’ve personally witnessed several others that were stopping for coffee and walked out as well taking their business elsewhere.

I recently purchased 2 of your cheese hot dogs with your mayonaise pkgs your onion pkgs from your 61 SOUTH VICKSBURG MS circle k shells.
It made me sick food poisoning. After i first ate it i didnt notice anything this was around 6pm on june 19 2017. After i ate it i went to sleep to get ready for work at 11pm. I woke up around 9 pm to get ready for work. When i awoke i had this nauseous sick type feeling but i didnt think non of it i had been feeling a lil under the weather earlier soo i just went on to work. As soon as i got out of my car at work about 10:30pm i had the urge to use it..i rushed to the rest room to use it. When i did got there man i blew it upp!! Like bad diarrhea with my upper abdominal area mildly bothering me.again i didnt think much of it. At 10:50 or so i colcked in then went to my work area which am a crane operator at woodyard at IP vicksburg paper mill. When i got inside crane it persistantly got worse. At about 1am or soo i came down to get some rolaids and anacids because i thought i had bad gas or bad indigestion. I went back on crane hoping it would stop and calm down but it didnt the pain and nauseous feeling was steady getting worse. I had a feeling like i was about to die i came off crane walked to the office while walking i was praying i make it and not pass out. I got to office told them i had to go home. I stepped out of office got on my knees held my stomach because it made it feel a lil better. After about 10 minutes on my knees i went back in office told them i coulnt drive home i was calling my wife to come get me take too E R.. I did called her after about 20 minutes my area boss notice how much pain i was in told me he was calling the mill manager to let him know. He came down told me to call my wife back let her know to go straight to E R that they was bringing me there i was in too much pain they didnt know if something had ruptured or what. So we did. They rushed me to E R. I got to emergency room about 2 or 3 i dont really know but when i did. They immediatly took blood tests ask me questions told me my pain was from the bad food i had ate. I had blood testes and cat scan done then finally after these testes at about 6 that morning they gave me a shot fir the pain and another shot i forgot i was in soo much pain when they was giving it. The shots helped thankfully. And the testes they did everything was normal except i had extremly high liver enzymes. The morning doctor around 7 told me to see a doctor and to be checked for hepititas and other things because my enzymes was soo high. I did that day around 2 went to doctor they did all kinds of blood work to see why my enzymes was soo high saying that the food poisoning may had something to do with it but they had to rule out everything.
After a couple days of sweating alot getting hot quickly with this mild nausiated feeling and mild andominal pain i guess just feeling it from when it happend it went away mostly gone after 4 days. On monday june 26 2017 i nervously went back to dr to get my lab results where i was told everything was normal and too check back in mid july to recheck my liver enzymes too see how far down it came.should come back down to normal dr say.
With my emergency room visit. I missed a day from work was off a couple on schedule off days with pain and suffering i think i am owed some monetary compensation!!!!
Am writing to tryto settle this before pursuing this in a court room.
Please know that i am very serious about this. I went through too much pain to not seek compensation. I mean i thought i was about to die. This could have been my child someone baby or something that ate this and could have did them worse then me.
Circle K owes me some compensation and i will seek it
Thankyou and please respond soon like ASAP. I will file charges or whatever i need to do in court of law

I normally call the phone number listed on the window. However, when I noticed the name I knew that it would be in vain. The Market Manager listed is Heather Heller, I’ve called and left many messages in the past and have NEVER heard back from her. Which is in hopes that this form of communication, gets a reply back. My concern is long and very detailed. Therefore, a call back would be better justifiable. The location of concern is Circle K # 2703734, 3443 W Dunlap, Phoenix, AZ 85051 Register #1 4/15/2017, approx. 7:45 -7:55 AM. I very much look forward to speaking with a Market Manager, I’ll be awaiting a reply phone call, (602) 418-XXXX. Thank, you for your time thus far.
