Chrysler History

Chrysler LLC is one of the “Big Three” American automobile manufacturers. It is a consolidated subsidiary of Fiat, which is a multinational automaker. Chrysler Group LLC is the twelfth biggest automaker by production in the world.

Walter Chrysler founded the Chrysler Corporation in 1925, and in 1928 it expanded to include the Dodge, Fargo, Plymouth, and DeSoto brands.

In the 1970s Chrysler was almost in bankruptcy due to factors including the 1973 oil crisis. The company returned to profitability in the 1980s.

In 1987 American Motor Company was acquired by Chrysler, including the Jeep brand.

In 1998 Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz AG, forming the new company DaimlerChrysler. This move proved unpopular with investors and Chrysler was sold to Cerberus Capital Management in 2007, and renamed Chrysler Group LLC.

Chrysler was hit hard by the crisis of 2008 and received loans of billions of dollars from the U.S. government to prevent them from going under.

Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in 2009.  It emerged from bankruptcy with Fiat, the U.S. government, the Canadian government, and the United Auto Workers pension fund as principal owners. Fiat gradually acquired shares from other stakeholders and now has majority ownership.

Today Chrysler has over 65,000 employees and had $65.78 billion in revenue in 2012.

I own 4 chrysler cars, very satisfied, until recently, that my 1998 dodge grand caravan got problems with the dashboard instruments and gauges, took iti to the dealer, the diagnostic was a bad “body control module”, the problem, no one get this part, the dealer, “we dont make this part anymore”, so good luck finding one, this car has only 35731, yes only 35731, i will take it to the dealer and burned it in from of the dealer.

I bought a brand new Chrysler 300 in May of 2014. To date it has a little over 28,000 miles. So far I have had to replace the oil pump, have air conditioning fixed, and now with this low mileage, I am being told I need new struts and whatever the part is that holds it all together. There were no issues with the front end of my car until Redlands Chrysler/ Dodge did a front end alignment that they said was needed. After I picked up the car I noticed a grinding noise in the front end, and when I took the car back they said I needed the struts. The car itself is beautiful and rides very nicely, however I don’t feel the car is holding up mechanically as it should. After only a little over 28,000 miles it is always needing something repaired that should not be going wrong with such low mileage. Please help with these issues or I will not be purchasing any other new Chrysler products.

My name is Donna Cox, I went into Steve Jones Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Wynne Arkansas on August 27th to buy my grandson a vehicle. Shay George called me and said he had a truck for us to look at, so we went and picked out a truck,2011 Dodge Truck 1500 4 wheel drive, they worked out a deal, I asked for sales tax to be included in the deal and they said yes no problem, I looked at me a Chevy Cruz which I also purchased, I told Tito the manager that I could not buy these vehicles unless the sales tax was paid and he assured me it would be done. My deal went thru in a matter of 30 minutes and then we had to wait 2 or 3 days for his paperwork. My sales tax was paid and when I looked at the contract for his truck it was not included (9-25-17). they just called me to tell me that they finally had the paper work to get our tags on our vehicles. I called and asked about his sales tax and they said, I didn’t read the contract and signed it so too bad, I guess they got one over on me, since I had to go there 2 times to finally get my paper work and pick up my grandson’s truck. I think they did a shady job of this deal and I intend to go on my facebook page and let everyone know how they do, to lie to me is one thing but to my grandson is another. He now has to come up with 1500.00 to pay his sales tax. His first buying experience is terrible.
Any answers will be appreciated

Bad customers service in Parts Department I brought a Dodge Durango vin#1c4rdhag7dc678335 had some recalls, been trying for months to get it done, no one could get the parts, so finally I decided to take it to Premier dodge at 13000 I-10 service road in New ORLEANS La.(504)218-1580,I pulled up to the service depth, and showed the salesperson the recalled letters I had and I explain to her about one of my remote keys wasn’t working, so I asked noel to order me another remote key and check to see why the other key remote didn’t work, she said okay, so we set up the appointment for the following week which was August 22,2016,so I brought my truck over to Premier dodge the week, got there for 6:45a.m,which my appt.
wasn’t until7:a.m.got there third person in line, once again explain it again, I told them that I couldn’t leave my truck over night because I had to go to work, been discussed that the following week before when she first asked me did I want to leave it before, that’s why we set up the appt. that next week early morning, so as it was getting late,I decided to ask a friend of my to bring me to check on my truck at 2:45p.m.I asked was they finished with my truck answer was no, so I said just give me my truck and what ever u had to finish it do it another time ,he said I’ll call you before we close to your truck, never happen I was calling them back to back never answered so I called from my house phone they decide to answer, once again I asked was my truck ready, she hesitate to answer me, it was almost closing time, when I finally arrived it was closed, very disappointed and inconvenience to me, had to search for a ride to get to work at 4:30a.m Tuesday morning, so after I got off I went up there still not finish with my truck the salesperson was so rude fussing and lying about my truck very unprofessional, so another sales person pulled him to the back and told him he was wrong then he offer me a rental truck ,but I had to come out of my own pocket to put a deposit down what kind of company does this, finally on Friday noel call to say my truck was ready ,but one problem still wasn’t fix my remote key, call back and they trying to give me the run around, but it was paid for.Now I see I have to get the News people involved 6on my side to investigate, or call attorney I don’t know where these company think they can get off just ripping hard working citizens off like we got money to lose, if no one contact me within 3days from now ,I promise it will be action taken. Bought a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the v6 engine,3.7 liter in 2008. ALWAYS did the maintenance as scheduled and took very good care of this vehicle. I loved this vehicle, the Jeep just flipped 100,251 miles and the engine total failed. No warning, no nothing. A local dealer outside of Toledo, Ohio…..wants $4600 to put a non warranty used engine in my vehicle. Only after that dealership told me, that V6 engine has a LONG history of failure and Jeep has nothing to fix the problem. Especially the years of 2005-2007 Jeeps with the v6 engines. I’ve called the Jeep corporate offices, emailed everyone I could find , and all dealerships basically with the state of Ohio. How come no one will answer me or attempt to help me. How about Jeep standing behind there vehicle and owning up to their shitty product??????

Our commercial vehicle has been sitting idle for over a month waiting on a back ordered shift control cable PN: 52107847AK. Yesterday I’m told we are 958 on the list once the part becomes available. Currently there is no availability date. What are we supposed do? We have 11 Dodge Ram’s I hope we don’t have any more shift control failures. Please find me a cable asap.

No trust in chrysler… and completely dissatisfied… Hurley dealer in fl has been great… but their hands are tied in the issue… I challenge someone in Chrysler Corp to actually lift their finger and help out a single customer!!!! My 2005 Grand Cherokee has on several occasions turned itself off while driving down the road. The last time this happened was at night and raining and the windshield wipers, headlights and everything shut off for several seconds while driving down the road. Because of this a tractor trailer pulled out in front of me with my children in the car and we were nearly killed. I had no light, windshield wipers, the brakes and steering were very difficult etc. I took it to the dealer today and they stated that there is a recall for this however no fix for the issue at this time?!?!?!?! This is completely unacceptable as my vehicle is completely useless, it is not worth my families lives to take the chance of driving it. I would like to know what is being done about this.

Case # 27175095

I had purchased my vehicle (2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude) last November of 2014 at Cunningham Auto (Edinboro, PA), because it drove smoothly, was reliable and safe. I received a call back in the middle of June (2015) regarding a recall for the air bags on my car. I made the appointment for June 29th, 2015 at North Pointe in Seneca, PA. Apparently there were two recalls that were done on my car that day when it was at North Pointe, which was found on the paperwork that I received. Once I received my car back I started having problems with it shifting and then loose of power going up a hill. The shifting was getting worse as the days went on and a noise start coming from under the hood of the car. I had my husband in the car with me this past Sunday (July 5, 2015) and he felt the hard shifting and heard the noise.
On Monday (July 6, 2015) I had called North Pointe to explain the problem I was having with my vehicle and the gentlemen had informed be “that there was nothing that could be done”. He indicated that Chrysler was the one that told him to tell customers that. He also informed me that there was a second edition to this software that will be another recall, but has no clue when it will be released. If I had known that there was going to be a second edition to this software, because the first one damages the car then I would have never gotten the recall done.
The fact that you (Chrysler/Jeep) have released a recall knowing that it has been causing issues with car really upsets me. Also what really bothers me is that I was not informed of the issues my car may have after this recall and that I would need the second recall. At this time my husband is driving my car, because it is not reliable or safe for my son or me to ride in it. I am all about safety and feel that a customer should be happy about the products they purchase. Since I have to drive my husband’s truck it is costing us more money on gas, due to me driving my son to daycare and then work and running my errands.
My car goes to Donovan & Bauer Auto Group (Titusville, PA) for a diagnosis on Monday (July 13, 2015). As I have read the complaints on this happening to other cars and my neighbor is having the same issue with her 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk, I feel the issue with not be resolved. I would love to have my car back the way it was, which it was running perfect before the recalls were done.
I am extremely upset about this and sick to my stomach that I cannot even drive my car. I received a call from the case worker on Wednesday (July 8, 2015) and stating what Chrysler could do for me due to this situation. I also contacted an attorney to see what my rights are regarding this situation and what laws are out there. Since my car cannot have the computer go back to the original setting where it is not shifting like it is now and I do not want to be stuck paying monthly for a vehicle I cannot drive. I honestly feel that since this is causing a convenience for my family and me, I should be given the opportunity for a new car that is at the same value (MSRP) as the 2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude that I have now. I would expect that a new car will not have these issues and will not make me so upset.

i am the very proud owner of a 2009 Ram 1500 4×4 with a bit over 130,000 miles and still going strong, completely dry underneath, With all original components except the Battery and a few bulbs, As a Disabled Veteran I wish to share this short bit, despite my damaged spine and preciously broken Ribs, I feel extremely comfortable sitting in the cab of my 2009 1500! Thank you for spending g the perfect amount of attention to detail in your product and production lines, Ladies and Gentleman of Dodge, Having owned only 4 dodge vehicles in my life time. I ask of you if at all possible, how does one get selected to test drive a prototype ( RAMCHARGER) that was my first dodge I ever bought just before Desert Storm, I really miss my Prospector. Purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit on 3/19/2015 – Mr. Nicholas Volpe, (Salesperson), Mr. Ivan Ruiz, (Sales Manager), Mr. Bill ??? (Financial Officer) from Jim Browne, Tampa Fl, all failed to indicate or alert to the possibility of an additional tag registration and processing fee after the price was indicated, agreed upon and signed by both parties, in the contract!
Now Mr. Kevin Martinez, from the Dealership, wants me to disburse an additional $159.35, plus have me drive for 2 hours at my expense, to pay that amount, so I can then obtain the tags, when at the time of the sale and before the contract was signed, I was clearly told tags would arrive at my mailing address! ( The only additional expense was to materialize if I requested a special theme on the tag, which I did not request, and the additional costs were specified at that time! After refusing to pay for an amount requested a month after the contract was signed, I then requested for other ways to reach an agreement through a different way to compensate me, as this was definitely a mistake originated by the Dealership and not the customer. Mr. Kevin Martinez, replied, not their problem that I had to pay that amount or that it would soon be more of my problem, as I would be driving illegally in FL.

I’ve been waiting for over seven months to have my JEEP repaired. There was a recall and the Dealership continues to tell me that Corporate has not given them the parts to fix my vehicle. Safty issues are a major concern with this Jeep because of a faultily part.

My wife just purchased a Town & Country Van, new (2014).
All power lift gates & doors open, even when vehicle is locked. There is no signal and vehicle was left unsecured and full of snow, when found.
Need to redesign or change locking & doors. Power doors and power lift gate should not open without unlocking vehicle first.
Very poor design.

I will start from the beginning addressing my initial concerns with salesman @ Davenport Iowa Kimberly Chrysler “Brannon”

– His customer service was done after we reached an agreement and Brannon immediately moved on to the next sale ignoring us through the entire process.
– He forgot (numerous times) several key components of the sale such as the service appointment (date), the pre-payment for the service, and the drop off of the vehicle despite our numerous conversations.
– He also failed to show up when I dropped the truck off.
– His quick blame on the service department for not completing the work on time, attempting to wipe his hands clean of the situation rather than finding and working towards a solution.
– I would also like to address his overall unprofessionalism from the moment we reached an agreement to the last time we spoke to him.

I would also like to focus on my experience with “Shannon” the sales manager

– He appeared intoxicated(still from night before) smelled of alcohol during our initial meeting, did not conduct himself as a professional, and was underdressed.
– He took down a list of what we added, paid for and wanted done with the vehicle, but obviously did not follow through with service, or his salesman.
– He failed to contact us or attempt to remedy the situation when your truck was not completed on time.(1 week later)

Lastly there was the Owner “Dale” failure to contact us within 24 hours.

FYI; I made a calculated decision to go with Ram, even had accessories added, and could not be more disappointed with my decision. I am extremely hesitant to ever bring my vehicle back for service, or to do any further business with your dealership. AS I love the truck! I am wondering if it was worth the nightmare I went through compared to the other pleasant experiences I have recently had at competing dealerships. Also management’s inability or lack of attempt to communicate with me and fix the situation is unacceptable. If possible I would also request that corporate contact us to find a solution to our problems with this dealership and their staff.

To whom it may concern, Please save the Viper. I recently read an article in regards to two liability issues that concern the Viper at the tech and training centers that you support. the article said that you wanted these cars crushed because of that liability. I am a car enthusiast and I like big power ,big engines and rare first production or one of a kind cars. If I had the money to buy one of these cars I would. Unfortunately I don’t. If there was any way to find a buyer or donate them to a museum, please find a way to do so. Even though you claim that these cars have lost there technical value for training because of there age, they are still an important part of the car industry and automotive history. Please do what ever you can to save these cars.

In writing this I realize that it will most likely fall on deaf ears but it is important that I make this statement on behalf of all the RETIRED employees AND the families they support. My husband retired after 32 years of service with Chrysler in Alabama. Many events took place during his employment….some good….some bad but no matter what he continued to support his mother company. During the 1970 financial emergency it was he and his co-workers that took pay cuts and concessions to insure the future of Chrysler so that the “active” and “retired” employees would have a means to support themselves and their faimilies. He made contributions to Chrysler sponsored charities and even helped restore the Statue of Liberty out of his own paycheck. Now comes the time in his life that he worked and prepared so diligently for. The time where there should be comfort and rest. The time when the company he supported and helped grow would return those favors as promised. This is not what I see happening! I see him struggle over making ends meet while insurance companies pay less, cost of living soars, and only minimum adjustments are made on his pension check. There is no fairness is how you treat your PAST employees. Not even a Christmas bonus or profit sharing check? REALLY? Beleive it or not SOME of these employees are still living! That’s right, they haven’t died off yet but seem to have been forgotten for their long years of dedicated service to this company. $2500.00 profit sharing check for ACTIVE employees ONLY? Are you kidding me? There would be NO ACTIVE employees if it were not for my husband and his co-workers! Chrysler would have been thrown by the wayside years ago just like our retirees are now being done! And to add more to this story…he STILL purchases only Chrysler vehicles (for which the money goes back to the company and their ACTIVE employees) as to guarantee that this automotive company continues to thrive in AMERICA! I am his wife….his disabled wife….with only a disability check to show for my 35 years of work and the small check I do receive goes to pay for MY insurance, doctor co-pay and medications. How many other “retirees” are suffering just like us? Anyone run the stats on that before negotiations left these “retirees” to figure it out for themselves? Just a thought….YOU WILL BECOME A RETIREE AT SOME TIME IN THE FUTURE IF YOU LIVE LONG ENOUGH! WHAT WILL BE IN THE CONTRACT FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY? AT THE RATE CHRYSLER IS GOING….THE ANSWER WILL BE NOTHING! You guys need to wake up before it’s too late for ALL OF US (Yes that included YOU!) And as I stated above, I know this e-mail will most likely be ignored but there was a time when PEOPLE mattered to Chrysler and this company acted on the behalf of ALL their employees…..not just a select few. And maybe that company no longer exists, but I would like to think that it COULD be that company again and be a model that other companies set THEIR standards by. Sincerely, Katz Wilbourn
