Charo Chicken was founded in Huntington Beach, California, in 1984 by Moe Bonakdar. The company operates a chain of mostly franchised fast food chicken restaurants in Southern California.
The company is best known for their flame grilled chicken and Mexican style chicken dishes, such as chicken enchiladas and fajitas. Also on the menu are sandwiches and salads. CEO Raymond Perry states that the company uses no MSG, no lard, and no frozen chicken, only fresh, local birds in their meals. In 2006, the company had nearly 100 locations, however, after the recession of 2009, they were forced to close about half of their locations.
